2 Days Post Op, any tips?

I still have a hell of a time getting my fluids in. The groups here have advised ice chips and broths. They help a lot. I found that hot and cold liquids are easiest for me. You can find protein20 in Amazon or Walmart. They are yummy, best served cold imo. So I freeze them in ice trays and then blend into shaved ice. Starting my water so far is the only trick I know. The gas yes killer! Starvstion yes I feel like that too, my doctor told me our bodies are learning to talk to us in a new way. We feel hungry or like we are starving when we are dehydrated. So if your doing the shakes and youf tummy is growling or the cramps kick in and you feel hollow... Drink. Best of luck Sent from my QTASUN1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I'm surprised your counting calories still. With cutting the meals down it 1\4-1\2 cup for everything, counting seems mean. Sent from my QTASUN1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I felt the same way. I mean hell we should be able to on our own. It's will power and working out right? Wrong, there are solo many aspects that go into our relationship with food and with ourselves that affect our mental, emotional, and physical health. Stop looking at this surgery as you failed at doing this correctly. This is a tool to help you make the changes maybe you knew you needed to make and some you didn't. I don't know about any of you but, my family taught me very bad food habits. I'm married with no kids but I book for an army because that was how I was taught. Or I work long days it's easier to get McDonald's than to make a healthy meal to take with me. Yeah, excuses. We can come up with hundred s if we tried from medications, mental health, physically I just can't work out or I'm tired. Bottom line is how long have you been trying this on your own? The tools you have used in the past diets, work out marathons, medication who knows what all you tried. I however tried them all. I'm an athlete I was injured in a car accident and broke my back. My weight gain started there but it didn't stop. After 12yrs battling with losing what I learned is I don't have all the tools or information. Our society is built for convenience which makes us far and lazy. Then fills us with shame and guilt. I say dump the shame and choose to mindful instead. You wouldn't be in this chat if you were doing it well in your own. Great news, your not alone! We have a chance to learn from each other and better yet pass on the knew knowledge and healthy living to the kids. Just my opinion but use this as the tool you need to kick start some major changes you need. Is it hard? yes, does it hurt? Yes. Is it worth it? I'm 14 days post op and down 21lbs. I've learned that it I didn't have all the tools to do it on my own and now I'm seeking the healthy ones out. So yes it's worth it to me. I wish you all the best. But to me it's scarier going on the way I was diabetic, suck, unhealthy, and unhappy. You still have time to change your mind. Until they take you back you can cancel so just decide can you do it on your own? I couldn't. Sent from my QTASUN1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Do some research every surgeon I spoke to about the weight loss surgery s gate the bands. The slip or just are not as successful. I can't tell you what to do but I'll tell you what I did after research. I just had the sleeve done April 3rd. I was type 2 diabetic, insomniac, snorer, Ptsd, ocd, chronic pain, fybermalgia, and worse still fatty liver. My surgeon recommend the sleeve for me as I only need to lose 100lb and that should decrease call of my other medical problems. Gastric bypass wasn't a good option for me because I didn't need to lose 100± but the band isn't an option she said because they are not safest. I wanted mostly to get off my metformin and tend to my liver. The research showed that with the bypass 1\2 go in diabetic but leave the hospital without meds or diabetes. The sleeve I have to work harder to lose the weight to lose my diabetes but I'm 2 weeks out. I've come off all medication and haven't had to stick my finger in a week. Do your research there are better weight loss surgerys out there to meet your needs. Insurance company's usually only pay for 1 surgery if this type so make it a good one. Best of luck! Day one post op

Crap I'm failing!! I'm 2 and 1\2 weeks post sleep and I still have problem s sipping and getting my waters in. The cramping is redivulous. I had a complication in my surgery that forced my doctor to go smaller than she wanted. So I was admitted in the hospital for 3 days. But since I've been home I've gone in 3x for IV fluids. How are you guys getting your liquids in? I'm struggling, I can drink 1-2 of the shakes and maybe 16 ounces of water in a day. Advice please. Sent from my QTASUN1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    April sleevers!?

I had mine done on the April 3rd. Having a support system in place before hand helped a lot. I wasn't really nervous because I knew I needed the surgery and I trusted my doctor. The roads not easy but don't read the surgery. Start talking to people to help you out. You need a good face to face imo as well as online. Good luck all! I'm down 20lbs. Motivation beast. 8. From everyone I talk to they say a big key to long term successful is to mentor someone just starting out. This will give back motivation to you as well as help another. In all things weight loss there will be these valleys of no change. You can exercise 5 days a week and eat great but your body will pick up on the routine and then expect that to maintain. So if you do less or eat more you gain. If you keep that routine you only maintain what you have. The trick is to change things up so that your body can't just settle and get comfortable. Keep it guessing as you get back into it. An example if this is soliders in PT they often have to change their routine from muscle failure to cardio or whatever so muscle memory has to be earned. I'm only 2 and 1\2 weeks post sleeve. So I don't know what your going through. But from the 10 years fighting to lose and hitting the gym everyday I learned that I can maintain my weight I just couldn't lose it. Luckily I started talking to anyone who would share their story for help. They helped me start this process and follow through. Motivation is hard for everyone but remember how miserable you were and the hard road that got you this far. Remember learning to eat all over again, the pain, and the discomfort. Remember what lead you to this in the first place and then choose... Start over or give up. My bet is your all fighters or you wouldn't be asking for support. I joined this chat cause right now I'm scared about next week thinking 3yrs ahead not yet. Maybe we can help each other. Sent from my QTASUN1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    When does eating feel "normal"?

I'm 2 and 1\2 weeks out as well. I had complication during my surgery that forced the doc to decrease the size of my stomach more than normal. I'm just now on 1\2 liquid and 1\2 soft. But everything I eat and drink feels like that rock mentioned above. You don't have any problem s getting your fluids in? I'm getting IV liquids 2x a week so far.🤔 Any tips for that?
