  1. surgery on a friday afternoon, back to work on following tuesday. floor job in factory. i was tired by the end of the day but nothing major. everyone is different but i can't imagine needing 4 weeks off for this. as far as pbing at work...you won't be eating mushies for 10 to 14 days so it won't be an issue. up to you but being home that long with not a lot to do but rest will drive you nuts. at least at work you stay busy and don't really think about not eating.
  2. hey, relax. i was banded 2 weeks ago in juarez mexico. went alone. i freaked out once i arrived and realized surgery was only 2 or 3 hrs away. stood in my room alone and had a mini-panic attak. seriously...i almost left! took some deep breaths, sat down, called my wife. once the 5 minute panic attack passed i was fine. everyone says it's a piece of cake, no biggie, whatever. it is a big deal. you put a lot of time and thought into this decision and lets be honest...surgery sucks!! you will have extra holes in you! that being said, relax. you should be a little freaked out about going under the knife, but you will be fine and once it's over you will be glad you went thru with it. trust me. good luck.

    Too Much To Handle?!?!

alanon i believe is the support group for families of addicted individuals. they specialize in the sort of psychological support you most likely need. i have no experience with this. i do know others that went this route and it was helpful. find a chapter or google them. like they say during the flight safety instructions on airplanes....before assisting others with their oxygen masks, 1st make sure your own is securely in place. you can't help others if you don't ensure your own survival. sometimes in life we MUST put ourselves 1st for the good of all. sounds like that might be the case here. good luck and God bless.
  5. dionna, i agree the self pay folks can get banded much faster but i don't think that the insurance company requirements actually educate insured patients anymore. yeah there are hoops to jump thru and a lot of info and advice along the way but listening to many on this forum it seems that most just complain about the hassle and "just want to be banded already". haven't heard a lot of "boy i learned all kinds of stuff while i waited". not saying this applies to all here but i feel that self pay folks as a whole do MORE research than insured folks and go into this with eyes wide open. when we are laying out many thousands of our dollars we want to know everything possible. sorry if this part seems harsh but people using insurance for this procedure(God bless you for having the coverage, honestly) do not have to sacrifice as much as self pay folks. i could be wrong but the more a person has invested the harder that person will work to get results. faster doesn't mean less informed anymore than slower means more informed.
