Holy cow....I can't even begin to tell you how often your posts really make me laugh. I think it's the complete honesty with no screening...it's so good for me to read some of that and I don't even know what DS is...lol Lanie

Hey all, Wow I remember being on this forum a few months ago and I would go days and days without responses....I knew there were other Canucks out there! This is so cool...my best friend lives in Washington and I luv the States but alot of info I need is so different up here so it's nice to have people that know what I'm talking about. Anyways a little about me. I'm 33 and I've been with my husband for 15 years. We have 3 boys and a girl...14,13,10 and 7. The girl came last...good thing or she might be an only child...lol. We live in Calgary where my husband is a mortgage broker and I'm a domestic engineer. We also have to spoiled dogs...Molly our Maltese and Daisy(my precious yorkie) who was my six month non smoking gift from hub. I'm getting banded in Mexico by Dr.Kuri on 07-08-06. I'm really nervous but trying to stay busy compiling lists of what I'm going to eat and drink when it's done...lol...and still my life is all about food. Well bout sums it up! Lanie

I've been secretly watching the recaps on Sportsnet for the past couple weeks...lol...I'm a die hard Flames fan but since they didn't make it I'm cheering for Edmonton....which you have to do very quietly in this city...lol Lanie

My kids and I live on this through the summer. Add whatever kinds of fruit you prefer to a bowl...lots of different kinds of melon and fresh pineapple. Then you mix in low or no fat coolwhip...usually I use a whole tub...mmm luv it! We also add cool whip to sliced bananas and strawberries. We eat an obnoxious amount of watermelon in the summer and I force myself to ignore the high sugar component...

Do you take off your shoes?
Time2live replied to argon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Okay so up here in the arctic(Calgary actually) 8 months of the year requires heavy duty winter boots and all the gear that goes with it but in the other 4 months, I think I would be offended if someone came in and didn't take their shoes off. I sometimes have little people over that are crawling around on my floors and the bottoms of people's shoes are gonna have some pretty gross stuff on em...besides why does it matter how clean the bottom of your socks stay? It's not like you lick the bottom of your feet...lol. Lanie Getting banded July 8th.06 Woohooo!! -
Wow...I hope my post on this thread doesn't get lost amidst all the canadian posts...lol... I'm still weighing all my options and googling like a crazy person to gather as much info on the lap band as I can so that I know exactly what I'm in for. I have a few calls in to doctors in Calgary, Alberta...trying to see how much trouble I will have getting in for fills if I go to Mexico for the surgery. Anyways...this site is great...I've been able to gather sooooo much info...it's been awesome and really inspiring...maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Lanie

Hey there, I'm in Calgary too. Who is the doctor in Calgary that does fills that you know of? I've spoken to a doctor as well. There is a team of doctors that are going through all the red tape to be able to perform the lapband procedure but probably won't be doing it until summer and there is a waiting list however the doctor I spoke to said that he thinks that initially the surgery will be covered by Alberta Health. Mind if I ask what you are looking at paying for yours? I hope all goes well and you have a speedy recovery. Lanie

I'm not even going to think about the reconstruction aspect...I know I'm going to need an obscene amount of work...I hope my plastic surgeon is cute...I may need a new husband by then.

I think that you're just being cautious and smart...people are crazy to not ask questions before hand. At least you can go into it knowing what you are dealing with. I've been spending hours and hours researching...reading all opinions, general comments, everything about post care, all of it. I want to know all of it, the good and the bad. For me personally, I think that I will be going ahead with surgery in March. I feel like safer getting the band than gastric bypass. I think that you should keep asking questions until you feel comfortable one way or the other. Good luck in your search. Lanie -
I'm trying to delete the visual of me in a thong from my mind....let alone letting my husband see me in one...I think that I'm having a panic attack thinking about it. Maybe in 100lbs I will have more confidence...but I sure did love reading these posts. This place is a wealth of information

Hi all, In my Quest to make sure all of my questions get answered before I go ahead with the surgery, I've created somewhat of a small fear in my mind. If I go ahead with the surgery I will almost certainly be headed for Mexico as I have insufficient documentation to warrant getting it covered by medical here and would ultimately pay less than half down there. My concern is that I will struggle to find a doctor here in Alberta that will do my fills because of legal issues or what have you. If there happen to be any Canucks out there who have dealt with this already I would love to here from you. Thanks much. Lanie
