    Carb Blockers

I haven't, but be careful, because the ingredients in some of them is something called chitosan which can swell in your pouch and cause an obstruction -- I would stay away from them until you've had a chance to discuss it with your doctor or lapband nutritionist.

Whey protein powder that tastes good?

  3. I had an episode Friday where I ate a bite of grilled cheese sandwich too quickly, it got stuck and I ended up throwing up -- ugh. I've been on liquids since and yesterday, I accidentally drank something too quickly and had it come back-up. So, liquids for a few more days, I guess, then soft mushies -- does anybody else find that it is harder to swallow/ingest in the morning? It seems as the day goes on, the swelling seems to be less...

    Sliming and PB'ing after fill

Up to a week, eh? I had an episode Friday where I ate a bite of grilled cheese sandwich too quickly, it got stuck and I ended up throwing up -- ugh. Solids Stage Recipes

I was trying to replicate the item on PF Chang's menu with the same name, but without all the fat and calories -- I made it and it is really good and satisfying! 3 oz cooked chicken fillet 1 serving(s) Powdered Peanut Butter 1/4 cup celery 2 tsp House of Tsang Hoisin Sauce 2 tsp A Taste of Thai Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce 1 tsp sesame seeds (toasted, if you prefer) 1 Tbsp ginger root 1/4 cup Dole Green Onions 1 Tbsp rice vinegar 1/4 cup cilantro 1 cup bean sprouts (sprinkled on top for more crunch) Mix all the ingredients together, except for the bean sprouts, then serve in iceberg lettuce cups, top with bean sprouts...yummy and only 5.5 points on Weight Watchers! (or roughly about 275 calories) You can also add Water chestnuts, if you want more crunch and to fill it out a little. Yummy! :leaving:
  6. Same here -- I aim for 60 - 70 grams of low fat protein per day, the rest is veggies & fruit and healthy carbs, whole grain pasta or potato -- but only like 1/2 cup. I'm trying to stick to 1200 calories a day, too, so that doesn't leave a lot of 'wiggle room'.

    Weight Watchers

Hi, Texas! My doctor told me that the people who do best with the LapBand Surgery are the ones who continue with Weight Watchers. And so far, so good! I do the Weight Watchers at Work meetings and I like those because I find them to be more interactive and supportive than the regular community meetings.

A different kind of frozen yogurt...

Weight Watchers just came out with a couple of really cool sweet treats -- their one point (roughly 80 calories, but with fiber) giant latte bars and their two point 'sundaes' -- choc chip, choc chip mint (my favorite) and turtle -- omg -- they are so good! --

    Help! Just banded!

Being a coffee addict, I understand -- what I did was started out with a blend of decaf and herbal coffee (Teeccino Caffeine-Free Herbal Coffee / Coffee Substitute Coffee Alternative), then gradually have gone up to a half regular coffee/half decaf or herbal -- and I find it very satisfying -- hope it goes well!
  10. Congrats on the weight loss, that's great! Yeah, I would have the nurse check out that scar bleeding -- better safe than sorry, I think. Have you been to see the doctor post-op yet? My first visit is next week. My husband and I went out to Applebee's and I got the baked haddock (nice & flaky) with mashed potatoes and the steamed veggies, which were pretty mushy, overcooked, -- I was able to mash 'em up with a fork. I ate the fish, and I forgot to ask them to go easy on the butter, but it sooo yummy -- ate the vegetables and about a two tablespoons of the mashed potato. I was very happily satisfied and my husband was impressed, cause in the past, I would have been asking 'what's for dessert'? My weight loss has stopped, for the time being, but I'm optimistic and looking forward to my first fill!
  11. Here it is, almost a month later and I'm feeling much better -- lost about 12 pounds the first two weeks, but then gained 3 pounds back on solids -- I'm definitely eating less than before the surgery, but I was a little discouraged that I put back those pounds, but apparently that's not unusual -- by sticking with fairly low carb, I've managed to stay the same -- how are you all doing? I'm thinking about my first fill and wondering what that will be like.

    Solids Stage Recipes

If you add some grated ginger, garlic & chopped cilantro to this, you've got a really tasty treat -- sometimes a I kick it up a couple of notches by adding 1 tsp toasted sesame oil (a little bit goes a long way), 1 tsp sesame seeds and some Oriental hot (chili-garlic) sauce! Yum -- even my husband, who doesn't like fish, will eat these!

    Low Fat Creamy Mashed Cauliflower

I usually find them near the ethnic foods section, like near plantains and yucca root -- here's a pix at http://GourmetSleuth - Chayote. :Dancing_wub:

    Blood pressure

Same thing happened to me -- it took about 2 weeks for it to come back down to normal!
  15. Same thing happened to me, but they sent me home with a catheter! Visiting Nurse Association removed it Thursday morning -- my poor husband had to help me empty my pee bags!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Sounds like reverse peristalsis to me -- that is grounds for going to the ER!!! Don't waste your time here -- go see your doctor!

I am so glad we all have a sense of humor! Makes it a lot more fun place to hang out!
  18. I had my surgery St. Patrick Day's, exactly one week ago and I'm feeling pretty good at the moment -- last week, though, I had to admit that I had a hard time imagining going back to work this week, but I have to say the tide turned over the weekend. I've lost 2 lbs since my pre-operative weight (lost about 15 lbs in the six months before surgery, then got 'stuck') and I started on the full liquid diet on Saturday and feel pretty satisfied! Only about 75 more lbs to go! Whoohoo! I am inspired and hopeful! I still miss coffee, though -- I'm enjoying various teas but I want to know when I can have my first espresso - And I want to know how everyone else who had their surgery last Monday is doing -- have you gone back to work? Anybody experience hunger yet? -- I did, especially on Friday, the last day of the clear liquid diet. Have you found the full liquid diet satisfying? I have to go to conference next week and have requested pureed food, but I suspect that the quantities maybe way too much. Anybody experience nausea? I've heard about people throwing up after trying to drink too much Fluid, but, boy, I'm glad I haven't had that problem. Look forward to chatting with you all!
  19. Thank you all so much for responding to this question! I was just banded Monday (Mar 17) and I stepped on the scales this morning only to find that I had gained two pounds! :wink2: Feeling rather discouraged, I just did a google search and found this chat room and I feel so much better now! Of course, it makes sense that I've retained Water -- if feel pretty sore and bruised and the pain meds make you retain water, too -- so now, I will stay off the scale until next week and take it slow! :wink2: Thanks for being here everyone!
