Getting sleeved today! 24 April 2017
Cass Elliot replied to Propo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm doing okay but super distracted by life so I am not paying attention to my food except to say I cant eat much. That is such a bonus! I cant eat mindlessly because I'm stressed like I did for the last 79 years (or that's how it felt!). I would like to be better about taking my vitamins and doing the program 'right' but I know that this is the long haul and I'm in. I do worry about not waiting long enough between drinking and eating and blah blah blah but this is a lifetime thing. Not a race. So its a mixed bag over here. But all in all mostly good! -

Sleeve Queen you are doing so great!! I am somewhat distracted by life 's happenings so I havent been v focused on my progress. . I had a stall a while back and was getting obsessive (I think I told you) so I stopped weighing myself so much. I'm just trying to focus on eating foods that I really like in v small portions. I've had a bad stuck feeling in my throat for the past 5 days so things taste good but they dont go down well. And my stomach grumbles ALL the time. I've had some emotional ups and downs too so thats been rough. I am finding myself to be less of a doormat with my teenagers and they are not used to me putting my foot down! You know what happens when someone in a system changes... it causes lots of ripple effects. For mothers day I went up north to the trees and birds and then I spent the late afternoon at my moms.. My brother made quesadillas and I couldnt believe how much everyone ate. WE are all food addicts. I felt so happy to be able to have a little bit and leave the rest. I would have been right in there with them. In fact I ate enought on Easter weekend to last me a lifetime!! Wishing you success and happiness and love. Keep me posted about your shrinking butt! -

Your dinner sounds so delicious! Isn't it great to love food and really get to taste it and appreciate it and not overdo it? It;s such a different relationship to it than before! I have thought about how many times I would have binged or drank too much wine because I was upset about something but its great not to be able to and then it makes you realize that you food and alcohol never helped with the problems anyway. But it took this surgery to find that out I'm glad your big butt was sticking out in the garden and you just didnt care! Because all kinds of things are opening up for us and we are becoming more free! I can walk without terrible pain so now I feel able to go places instead of stay home and cry all the time. /GO GIRL YOU GO GIRL YOU GO SLEEVE QUEEN OF 04/24!! -

yay Propo! Sounds like you are doing great! Slow and steady wins the race... it's hard to see these people with 100 lb plus weight loss when things feel like they are going so slowly. But imagine if you kept losing 28 lbs a month.... In 4 months that would be 120! That's too fast!! You would have one loose birthday suit! Congrats and we are awesome!! -

I love you Finding_Stacy! You are the voice of reason and always weigh in with your wisdom. Thanks for this great post about losing inches and cells filling with water! There is SO much going on at the metabolic and cellular level that can NEVER be measured or seen in pounds lost! You're the best! I vote you sleeve queen of 24/04 (and perhaps even the whole month of April). Hope you are doing well. -

It certainly is frustrating but look at how much weight you've lost!! I hit a 2 week stall also so I stopped weighing myself for a while, walked more and ate less and the scale started moving again. don't despair. you are doing so well -

This really does suck. Not the magic bullet I had hoped for. I'm so hungry all the time. And feeling down in the dumps now. I don't even know what's going on with my bowels. It's all a blur!! Hope you feel better soon. I really do! -

Hi Finding_Stacy! I think we must all be a little nutty in this first stage. We are relearning everything and experimenting to see what works and what doesn.t/ Or at least I am! Maybe I should chill and go with the flow and follow the program too! I'm weighing myself too often and I have been freaking out that if I eat just 2 protein shakes a day plus some low fat soups and my water I GAIN WEIGHT!! What the hec;s with that??? It's gotta be about metabolism and starvation mode etc, Today I ate a little bit of a soft boiled egg and it really filled me up. I bet our bodies are going through extreme changes. But I led myself to believe the sleeve would just do it for me and that is SO not the case. Hope we can all switch to the long term mode - the really fast short term weight loss messed with my mind!! And I came to expect more. Thinking of you all on your journeys! -

You Englishmen (and women) seem to be doing beautifully!! Congrats and thanks for inspiring. I was also sleeved on April 24. A day not to be forgotten. I've been doing well - recovery is good - my incisions are mostly fine except the larger one (lower left abdomin) looks like it will be a pretty nasty scar. I could care less for a scar or two - so unimportant in the whole scheme of things. I am having a bit of a dilemma right now. It seems as if I eat (drink I should say and things like protein shakes and souo) I dont lose! It;s like I cant eat food or I gain weight! I think its all about the walking piece. I have been sedentary for several years and find it difficult to get out there but I've just rented a treadmill. Hoping that will make the difference. AND i need to stop wieghing myself so much!! Cheerio keep up the good work!! -
April Sleevers, What Changes Have You Noticed?
Cass Elliot replied to tlh4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you do a pre op diet? It seems like lots of people have a head start with it (like me) and then it seems like they've lost more weight. I know it must be hard but as long as the scale is going down, you need to celebrate!! ITs not going up like it did for all those years. -

/Wow sounds like a real mixed bag - lots of positive and some challenges too! How upsetting about the water. I have heard quite a few people say that through reading this forum. There's something about water than seems HARD ( ever do a belly flop??!) unlike a blended soup or mashed potatoes. Wonder if there is anything to that. (I tend to imagine a lot of things!) And in the picture you seem to have a baby . There are usually really tiring in my experience!! ha ha I guess the best part os the jeans and the scale going DOWN regardless of the rate. YOU'RE DOING IT!!!! -

Funny about that pizza. Like you were going to push over some kids to get a slice! Do I get it? oh boy do I! Im so glad I can no longer hurt someone (ie. myself) to get food. I was sad and lonely on Saturday night and if I would have eaten everything in sight I could have. THANK GOODNESS I COULDNT!! Its the beauty of the procedure. Hopefully it teaches us that we can manage sadness, happiness, loneliness and everything else without relying on food. That's what I hope to work on while I am healing and relearning how to eat!! -

I feel so much regret sometimes too. It;s like grief. I wonder if it gets better when you can eat a bit more. -

Great topic. Thanks for asking. I had my surgery one week today and so far I've lost 20 with the pre op. It just shocks me that 20 pounds are gone! My daughter says my face looks different already and I seem smaller. Wow. So on top of that: 1. I have way more energy 2. I am more clear headed 3. I feel really really hungry all the time but I don;t want to eat. Weird huh? I think about food alot. 4. I don't sleep as much 5. I also dream of food! Cheesecake so far 6. I don;t like when my 14 year old eats Kraft mac and cheese in front of me (my most fav food) 7. I am really grumpy alot. 8. I feel like my best friends (food and wine) moved far away and left me behind. But they were bad friends in the end and so they were doing it for me. The end Love to hear more from others! -

OMG that is FABULOUS!! Congratulations!!! Can you imagine this EVER happening before? 15 lbs in one week? It was always more like 15 pounds gain in a few months. You must be thrilled!! Keep up the good work! PS. I'm down 12 from surgery and 20 overall since my pre op diet!! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
Hi - I just had my surgery on April 24th and I've been looking for in person support groups. Online is great, but nothing beats hearing a real voice and seeing people face to face. If you're in the Toronto area, text me and maybe we can get something going! Hope everyone is doing well!

That is sososososossososo great that you quit smoking. Harder to stop than cocaine they say. What an accomplishment! I can't believe I've stopped drinking my barrel of wine every night. I quit 10 days before surgery and I gave up coffee too which was another one of my addictions. My gawd I had so many. Anyway. these are BIG changes we are making!! I can feel myself moving around better already. More energy sleeping better. What is to come??? It;s so exciting. Even though I feel like chewing on a table leg I am so hungry. BUT I WONT. I wont do ANYTHING to jeapordize my sleeve and the healing. You'll get through the liquid diet!! Before you know if you'll be eating cottage cheese ha ha -

My surgery was fine - the aftermath was rough, tho!! OH MY GOD I started to feel better at day 3. Now I feel really hungry but I don't want to eat so that's good. I've lost 18 pounds since my preop! I am really really excited. I feel pretty grumpy most of the time and yelled at someone who blocked my 80 year old mother from pulling out of a parking spot. -

I cant believe how much the anesthesia bloats you PLUS all the gas they inject into your abdomen during the surgery. That seems to be the most difficult part of the recovery. Everyone on my floor was suffering from it. I thought my diapragm was bruised but I think it was just the gas stuck there but it HURT SO MUCH. I also gained almost 7 lbs after the surgery. but I tried to tell myself that it was the after effects. I mean, I'm a person who gains weight AFTER having a baby! (that literally did happen with one of my kids). So onward and upward on this journey. Feeling good if a little nauseated. But happy to have broth and not be hungry! I even feel like I am more able to move around. And did the seatbelt on the plane get looser???! IS that even possible? Oh I hope so - for all of us! IT will be such a more joyful life to move around and tie our shoes and go places! GO APRIL SLEEVERS GO! -
