Really one of the reasons I gained 80 pounds...My doctor told me not to exercise because he was concerned it would dislodge the blood clots in my legs and cause a stroke, that combined with the cramping and the mood swings, it was a recipe for disaster....so I always try to keep my friends from getting the shot.
-
Made me crazy too, I was so miserable. I didn't know if the bleeding would ever stop.

I like trutein...you can try sample sizes for 1.99 to see which flavors you like. I recently ordered one of each and I like pumpkin spice and and red velvet the best.
-
Thanks for your kind words. I mainly wanted to say though, be wary of the shot! Have you thought about Mirena?
-
I got the shot and bled for a year straight and the birth control they gave me to help stop thr bleeding caused blood clots and a pulmonary embolism....needless to say I wont be going on birth control..

Maybe try telling them you are sick...and that you are doing everything you can to get better but talking about it tires you out... -
Dinner out at 14 days post op

Maybe he could just order the 6 course meal for himself and you can have a bite here and there? I think that is going to be my general strategy after surgery. -
Something doesn't taste right...

The best tasting protein powder I have tasted is trutein, my favorite flavors are strawberry cheesecake and red velvet. -

I don't know if it's the same thing, but when I had galbladder surgery, I had this incredible pain in my back. I found out it was from the gas used to inflate my stomach during surgery. It was at about the lower portion of my shoulder blade. Of course talk to your doctor, but what helped me with that pain was a heating pad on the area. Hope you feel better soon! -

Anybody else try to talk themselves out of it?
hardwork&dedication replied to lilj8588's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My irrational fear....in the future a global food crisis....and I won't be able to eat normally at a time when I need every calorie...and then I will die thinking I should have never had that operation.... -
1st day of liquid diet
hardwork&dedication replied to aipvisual's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That doesn't sound normal, I would think you would just be hungry. Are you on medication that is supposed to be taken with food? Maybe it is messing with your stomach now that you are on a liquid diet. -

Struggling with the decision
hardwork&dedication posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone, In about a week I will have my 4th supervised weight loss doctor's appointment. As the reality of having surgery looms closer, I am really waffling on whether or not to proceed with the surgery. My husband and my family are really against it, they think I should be able to lose the weight on my own. I am really scared of having bad reactions to certain foods after surgery....What if I want to have a macaroon in Paris one day? Or some of my (hypothetical) children's wedding cake? I'm really worried about doing something that is so permanent when I still have doubts. To make matters worse, I really don't like my surgery coordinator. I think she was really rude and condescending. Also, the wls support group that they referred me to seems to not exist. I've been twice and no one was there. On the other hand, I'm scared I won't be approved for surgery in the first place. I gained a little weight on the second month of my weigh ins (although I am still down 18 pounds overall). The weight loss doctor told me this is very bad and can be cause for being denied. Anyone have thoughts on this? -
Struggling with the decision

From this website...click on patients>weight loss surgery information>side effects and complications. You have probably heard it quoted as "less than 1% mortality rate"...which is true...but 1 in 200 is still a lot. -
Who are you telling (pre-op)?
hardwork&dedication replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told my husband and 1 coworker but today that co-worker let it slip to another coworker so now I think...probably everyone at work will find out. NOT very happy about that. -
Drain and catheter?
hardwork&dedication replied to Beeks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great question...I would really like to avoid a catheter if possible. I've had gal bladder surgery before and did not require one... -
Arm Cramping Hell
hardwork&dedication replied to hardwork&dedication's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone else have this problem, with last minute requirements popping up? -
The surgery coordinator told me 3 weeks ago that I should have been keeping food logs for the entire past 4 months for my nutritional evaluation today...and they have specific forms that they want them on....so Im scrolling through my online food tracker for the past 4 months and writing everything out by hand and my arm hurts.....ugggg.

Struggling with the decision
hardwork&dedication replied to hardwork&dedication's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I'm really scared too because I personally know someone that died from weight loss surgery. The mother of one of my friends in high school had weight loss surgery and died. He had to go live with his grandparents in Texas after that because she was a single mother. It's probably why my family is so against it as well. -

I guess the thing that is sort of rushing my timeline is that Im 30 and I want to have a couple babies as soon as possible...and I would like to be at an ideal weight before that happens...but they also say not to get pregnant for at least a year after wls....soooo times a ticking -
