I'm young(ish) and my wife and I like to drink. We'll have several glasses of wine or cocktails at dinner (esp. at a restaurant or with friends). We go to SEC football games a good bit and drink beer or whiskey there with friends. We have bloody marys and mimosas on mother's day and Easter, etc. We go to music festivals (Jazz Fest, Memphis in May, etc.) and drink there while enjoying the music. It suffices to say that our lifestyle has involved alcohol since we were college kids, albeit much less (and more responsibly) now that we're 30. Do any similar social drinkers have advice about how to juggle VSG with light cocktails/wine/beer? Will my VSG prevent me from drinking at all?

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not trying to engage in a political debate. I am, however, very interested to learn more about how today's healthcare bill (assuming it's passed in the Senate) will impact bariatric surgery coverage. Wasn't obesity considered a pre-existing condition before the affordable care act, and therefore usually denied? Any politicos/healthcare policy wonks out there? I'm thinking that coverage remains the same for 2017 (since most policies are subject to annual contract renewal), but could those people researching/looking to have surgery in 2018 be affected? Thanks for any comments/prognostications!

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have Highmark of DE. My coinsurance max out of pocket is $500. But there's also a "total max out of pocket" that's like $7k. According to the Highmark glossary, the coinsurance counts towards meeting the total out of pocket costs of $7k. What ridiculous terminology! Did you find out what your out of pocket is going to be?

I have Highmark of DE as well. My coinsurance max out of pocket is $500. But there's also a "total max out of pocket" that's like $7k. According to the Highmark glossary, the coinsurance counts towards meeting the total out of pocket costs of $7k. What ridiculous terminology! Did you guys pay anything near $7k (if you dont mind me asking!). -

Do you have Highmark BCBS of Delaware? I'm seeing an out of pocket max of $500 (for coinsurance), and then a total out of pocket max of $7100. How much are you guys having to pay, if you dont mind sharing. I'm just starting out on this process.

Have you really lost 46 lbs in a month, or does that include a pre-surgery diet regime? Sorry, newbie here.
