I am so grateful to find BariatricPal. It's informative reading about everyone's experience with their weight loss surgery. Since the 2nd grade, I gained weight steadily hitting 100 lbs my 6th grade year and then 200lbs my Senior year in high school. Fast Forward hitting my high weight of 296. The most I ever lost on my own was in 2001, I got down to 195 lbs. I kept it off for maybe 2 months then was right back to where I started. Last year when I graduated with my Associates degree I knew my moment had presented itself to have surgery. Since April 2016 I started the Real Appeal program through my insurance (United Health Care). It kick started me to losing almost 50 lbs. I started reducing my portions and working out. I started eliminating soda and reducing my portion size. I tried my best to prepare myself for surgery. My first week post surgery was pretty rough. On my 6th day...my worst day... I was given some pretty valuable advise that helped me snap out of my woe is me moment.... my pain eased and now I'm just taking it one day at a time. I'm still slowly introducing soft foods. I'm trying to increase my protein intake. I'm just taking it one day at a time....
