    When will I feel better

I wanted to update that I am on day 9 now and I seemed to turn a corner yesterday. I woke up more rested and felt more like myself. I was also able to work from home a bit which helped me get out of myself for a bit. Today I went to Target and got a pedicure. I'm down 15 lbs already and I'm thrilled with that.
  2. I brought loose fitting shirts and pj pants and underwear. It made me feel human to change out of the hospital gown asap.
  3. Have you spoken with your endocrinologist? I had to adjust my insulin a bit during the pre-op diet to avoid lows. When I did get low I took glucose tabs, which my bariatric Dr approved. The liquid diet sucks super bad. I had to make a list of things I hated about being fat and refer to it often when I felt weak. It helped me get through. Good luck!

    Presurgery diet

Days 1-4 were the absolute worst. Then it got better. I made a list in my phone of why I was doing this so I could refer to it when I felt weak. It helped a lot. Big picture here! Also I lost 21lbs on the preop diet which made me feel victorious.

    Any other Type 1 Diabetics?

Not sure what this has to do with my post...
  6. I have T1 diabetes but insulin resistance combined with bad eating habits have brought me to bypass. I am scheduled for May 2nd and start a 2 wk pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. I was instructed to decrease my insulin by half (I wear a pump) and adjust from there as needed. I am so worried about low blood sugars post op. Can anyone share their experiences?

    Pre-op diet

It seems every surgeon has a different pre-op diet. Mine is 14 days of 3 protein shakes a day and 3oz of lean meat and veggies for dinner plus 64 oz of water per day. I'm on day 2. All I do is pee. I haven't found a protein shake I love. A lot of people recommend Premier and that was the most vile thing ever. Right now I am doing the Atkins shake. Flavored water has been helping me curb some cravings but it is hard. I have heard of people losing up to 20lbs. I am hoping for some movement on the scale but won't get my hopes up too high.
  9. I'm really sorry you are going through this. My Dr. instructs that no one should get pregnant until after 2 years post op due to malabsorption. My cousin has surgery 4 years ago and recently delivered at 29 weeks. Her son is healthy now but it was quite scary. So keep that in mind when making your decision. I wish you all the luck with conceiving, no matter what route you take.

    Pre-op RNY Journey

I went to the info session in September 2017 and am having surgery May 2nd. I took a good month or so off from doing the requirements because I started a new job and didn't want to leave for appointments. Then my Dr.'s office was short staffed and I lost a few weeks there. I could have had the surgery in April but had travel for work so I delayed it. If I did everything right away I think it would have taken about 4-5 months to get through the requirements.

    MAY BUDDIES

May 2nd. Liquid diet starts tomorrow. I am dreading that piece and am getting quite anxious. The Dr. I see has us do 3 protein shakes a day and then 3oz of lean meat and veggies for dinner. I can't find a protein shake that I like but I'm just going to use the ones that are "okay". I am also traveling for work all of next week so that is going to make it even harder. I did pre-op testing today. They said no news is good news.
