We (me and my co-workers) get so frustrated when they do that. Then when it doesn't work correctly they end up billing you again for a repeat. They do it to save money but it's not the best option for the patient. I've seen false positives and people under diagnosed.

Over night pulse ox (finger probe) is not the same as an at home sleep study. Our lab has you pick up and drop off equipment to us at the hospital. I've worked for other facilities who do the same or send a tech/ representative to your home. Are you sure your insurance won't approve an over night in -lab study? They like to approve at home tests because they are "cheaper" but they aren't as accurate and some times end up in repeated testing. We've had patients request an in -lab study vs the over night home sleep study they unusually recommend. Some insurances let you choose. Good luck!

Hi! Sleep tech here. Home sleep studies have been on the rise in the past few years. Its kind of like a preliminary screening. Our lab gives them out as some insurances don't want to pay for the in lab diagnostic test that is more accurate. Sometimes patients end up in the lab for their sleep study after a home sleep test because the results were inconclusive. It should not be hard for you to apply the equipment. An example would be a soft belt to go around your chest, a nasal cannula, and a probe that tapes to your finger. This should all be connected into a box type device. I hope I helped!

mild sleep apnea - I'm pissed
Ashley34 replied to transmformme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm laughing at everyone thinking it's a scam. Please purchase more more life insurance if you're not going to treat your sleep apnea. Would you be complaining this much if the deductible wasn't high? I Agree insurance should cover the equipment. I've been working on this field for 11 years and see it every night on screen. I also see the patients won refuse to wear it come back after a heart attack or stroke and at that point have no choice but to use a form of treatment. I'm not sure what the tech told you but waking up is not the same as your AHI apnea hypopnea index. Insurance won't approve a titration (cpap/bipap) follow up unless you qualify. It would be the same as giving people insulin who don't qualify as truly diabetic. I wouldn't want someone driving around with untreated apnea on the same roads as my daughter and family. Driving while sleep deprived is the same as driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Please know that this sleep study is an actual measurable scientific test and the consequences of untreated sleep apnea are very real. Talk to your physician about treatment options that may work for you. -
From what I've read, carbonation can stretch the stomach. Did you try the pouch reset diet? Why do you need to have so many calories on the keto diet to get in your protein? Are you eating high fat foods?

I had a bad leg break and after my surgery they sent me home with the injections. It was unpleasant but I didn't want to risk a blood clot. It's only temporary and the benefits outweigh the risks. Are you afraid of needles? See if your husband will give you the shot. I wouldn't pretend to take it. Tell the surgeon you're apprehensive and maybe they can explain why it's necessary.

My surgeon said "June" but hasn't given me the date yet!

Why Did You Gain Weight?
Ashley34 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I turn to food for comfort. Any major negative or stressful life event that's beyond my control causes me to binge "comfort foods". Over the past 9 years I've slowly gained 120 pounds, lost 75, and gained back 50. I can seriously narrow down the weight gain to 4 events. Of course now the damage is done, and hindsight is 20-20. I'm hoping with better coping mechanisms and self awareness I won't fall back into old habits. -
Clear liquids tomorrow, then Sleeving on Tuesday
Ashley34 replied to Chris Lee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been worrying about complications post surgery. It may sound silly, but I'm terrified of heart burn. I had severe heart burn during pregnancy and I don't think I want to live with that daily. I try to remind myself the effects of morbid obesity will be worse for me long term. I actually had someone bring up bariatric surgery negatively at a family Easter gathering. She was questioning her friends choice of wanting the surgery since she knew her friend lost 20 pounds on weight watchers. "She should just exercise and eat right since I know she can lose it if she wants to. Seems like the easy way out. " I internally rolled my eyes and said there's nothing easy about surgery. I'm in month 5 of pre op. I haven't told a lot of people yet because I don't ned their negativity. Good luck with your surgery 💜
