Hey all, I'm 2 months out - curious how much you guys are able to eat? I can eat 1 cup of food and am worried that is too much? Curious to see how much other people can eat at this time. Thanks in advance

Hi all, just curious if any of you knew the reason we can't drink carbonated beverages. Is it because it will harm our new stomachs or for fullness reasons? My bachelorette party is today and the doctor OK-ed me to have some wine, but my mom bought this really nice champagne that I would like to try. Thanks in advance for your help

BREAKING OUT / EXTRA SENSITIVE
heylizzyclay replied to BGOV1225's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes - it is normal for this to happen apparently. Your body is going through crazy hormone changes - it has something to do with fat deposits and estrogen - losing fat makes your progesterone sky rocket. My doctor sent me to an OB to alter my birth control and get face meds. -
Hello, has anyone had problems with their periods coming a week or two early? I'm one month post op

Weird periods?
heylizzyclay replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is exactly what is happening to me oh my god - thank god I'm not alone. I have been losing weight slowly but it makes sense that my period being so constant affects it. Pre op I always gained and retained water weight through out my monthly. Do you mind sharing the name of the pill you are on? I'm currently on a rx cream right now but maybe something oral would work better. -

It sucks! My acne has also flared up - it's very clear my body is going through hormonal changes. Happy to be getting healthier but it is starting to get annoying. -

Thank you!!!! Awesome protein count. Wow -
Seriously - Biotin. I haven't had any hair loss. Actually my hair has gotten stronger and fuller. Also, it's important to stick with your vitamins on schedule (AM/PM). That really helps too I've been told.

Slow weight loss Anyone and feeling super exhausted???
heylizzyclay replied to princessK23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem - went to my doctor and cried. He was nice thank god. But explained to me that my metabolism was still slow - the small tummy resets your bodies set point but the years of overeating and a large stomach and probably lack of exercise has put a huge dent in our metabolism. So I started doing things to increase metabolism: green tea, HIIT training, walking in the morning, mostly weight lifting. I went from losing 10 lbs in two weeks to 8 lbs in one week. Going to the gym SUCKS. But I really do feel a high afterward. Waiting for that moment of it becoming a habit and me enjoying going to kick in [emoji23] luckily my fiancé is super supportive and is going with me. Oh and also, protein is SO IMPORTANT. If you don't eat enough protein your body goes into starvation mode and tries to not let you lose weight; makes your body turn to eat its muscle. Eat enough protein paired with weight training and your body will eat your fat deposits. I'm not a doctor, so if I misquoted anything please correct me! But after harrowing research and a therapy session with my doctor this is what I understood [emoji23][emoji85] Hang in there! -
Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
heylizzyclay replied to wlsfeb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not a lone. Whether you ate a whole pizza, or someone else ate a whole piece of cake, two glasses of wine - a lot of us come from a background of overeating and binging, followed by shame. It's okay that you are a work of progress - you are in a transition period. You are trying to change who you are as a person - which is NOT easy. The small size of our stomachs make it a little easier to change, kind of forces us to eat less and less. I'm about a month out and finally getting out of a Huge depression state. I used to find joy and solace in eating. But at the end of the day, it's your mind that makes the decision to eat. If you decide to pick something up and swallow, your stomach doesn't really have a choice. Think about your goals. Make a dream board on Pinterest of healthy bodies, motivational phrases, vsg recipes, at home exercises. Remind yourself of what you want - what you were willing to deal with the insurance company for, the hospital stay for, the possible family and friends that didn't understand your decision. You did it for YOU. As a side note, a psychologist has really helped me. You can fix a fridge or a car, but you cannot fix a person - a person has to want to fix them self. Stay strong! -
Please help :( Not losing weight?
heylizzyclay posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 days post op and haven't lost any weight. I have definitely been consuming less, drinking water, walking. My period has been this last week, do you think that's the reason why? I've read some stuff online about your body holding onto water weight after surgery while it heals, is this true? Although I feel pretty healed; no pain, vomiting, no food or water intolerance, no trouble swallowing. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday but my anxiety is rendering me into a swallow of depression and I just need to know if anyone else has experienced this? -

Thank you for sharing. It really sucks. I already deal with depression so I just feel extra low. Plus I'm worried if I like messed it up or did something wrong (I know this probably isn't the case). I guess my expectations were just high! I should know better by now [emoji848][emoji849][emoji4] -

Thank you so much. I will definitely google that right now. You are totally right about the protein and water. Will definitely focus on that. Luckily haven't had any problems with hair loss. If anything my hair has been healthier since I've been taking biotin supplements. Thank you again [emoji5] -
Well, I've really been taking advantage of this wonderful support system. I've asked so many questions and gotten so much help and relieving answers. Thank you. So now, my next one. I was sleeved last Thursday. In June, literally 2 months from now, is my wedding. What are you all eating 2 months post op? Liquor? Are you able to eat more than 3 bites of something? Thanks in advance. Appreciate you all

Surgery on 4/13. Blender just broke. How important is it to blend everything if I chew it very, very well? Have plans to get a new one but finances are tight right now [emoji27]

Blender necessary?
heylizzyclay replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all!! -
Hello, Sleeved 4/13 - no major complications. Doctor said my liver was smooth and the opposite of fatty, no diabetes, no allergies that are known. The first evening after the surgery I noticed my face was a little flushed. The next day I went home to find a rash on one of my breasts in conjunction with the flushed face and chest. Today the rash seems to be on my stomach also. It's splotchy, slightly raised (enough to feel a difference when running your finger over it). Has anyone else experienced this?

lol! Yeah I haven't been the most pleasant person lately. My poor fiancé. This surgery is crazy physically and mentally. I go through things of regret because it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel while experiencing this pain and wanting to have an English muffin for breakfast [emoji24][emoji23][emoji85] -
Wayfair memory foam mattress. And my fiancé to help pull me out of bed because the doctor said to refrain from using abdominal muscles (also it hurts like hell to get up out of chairs/beds/couch [emoji24]; kind of having that "wtf did I do" moment)
