    Pre-op diet started

I'll tell ya a little secret. Along with my liquids there was the occaisional Xanax.
  2. As I am quite aware, men's bodies are different from womens'. I read about expected results, percentiles and all that stuff but wonder if the numbers for us guys might be different. I started my two week pre-op diet 17 minutes ago and can't wait to get this all over with. But I wonder what I can truly expect to lose after this procedure. Any of you guys willing to share your results? I'm also curious what you think helps with your success.
  3. I have been banded four days now, so there's no turning back. But I have a question for those of you who've been banded awhile. I'm just trying to set expectations. For those of you who're a few months or more out, how often do you PB, vomit or otherwise get in distress? What do you do to lessen the effects? Any tips for you might bestow on a newbie?

    nervous

Banded on Thursday and so far so good. I going to go to the mall with the wife and get some walking in. Not too much, but I can't sit still any longer. I've also pretty much stopped the Hydrocodone (I'll probably use some tonight to help me be able to sleep). But I do have a question for you band-veterans. I keep getting this feeling in my throat/top-middle-of-my-chest like I need to burp, but nothing will come up. Is this normal? If so, what in the world is it? To DWRD and Watcher, hang in there guys. Its really not that bad. I think the worst part of the surgery day was right after the surgery and they wouldn't give me but four ounces of ice chips. Thankfully I was still kinda sleepy so I slept most of the post-op time.

    Signing off

Cirrus, I think that the fact that they sent you a PRIVATE message, offered to help you get what may have been wrong fixed and left the impression (at least with my reading skills) that if there were indeed two people in the household using the same computer it might be OK, all say to me that it was no big deal.

    Issues, issues, issues

Ticker works fine. :Banane37: Glad to hear things are going well for ya. I get banded tomorrow at 9:00 AM. Wish me luck. :sleep2:

    Pre-op diet started

Yer most welcome. Don't know why exactly, but for me, I could eat a whole plate full of Egg Rolls. But earlier I was speaking to my wife about the diet and she pondered just how low the percentage of patients there must be who truly stuck to the pre-op diet... I mean to the letter. I did it for a little over a week and it was rougher than I was expecting too. As I mentioned above, I had to cheat a little with some crackers just to be able to function. My surgeon told me that he's done many operations where once he got them open he could tell they'd likely eaten anything and everything right up to the night before surgery. Sure enough, while they're coming out of the sleep of surgery and seem to be prone to truthfulness, he asks them about their diet and they confess. But if you're serious about this, then the pre-op diet is the beginning of a path to more energy, less diabetes, more confidence, less hypertension, and so on and so on. Seems a small price to pay.

    Pre-op diet started

Dwrd, it's monday and I'm ten days into the two week pre-op diet and I can relate to everyting you wrote. We did the farewell tour as well, ended up at Ryan's. I suppose it's telling that all the waitresses at Ryan's said they were going to miss me. But anyway, its Monday and I get banded on Thursday. As to the pre-op diet, I found that the shakes were what staved off the hunger the best. I'm doing two a day. I found that mixing in some ice and running them in the blender to make what seems like a real milkshake helps a lot. When I crave something else, I go with cream of chicken Soup. Only I like to load it with Texas Pete hot sauce (do so at your own risk cause it'll burn twice if you know what I mean) to give it some flavor. On Friday, I was feeling real weak and a little dizzy. I added a sleeve of saltines to the soup for supper and I felt a whole lot better. I know this was cheating, but I had to do something. I also did some studying of labels and found that if I substitutes some cheese in my diet, it helped with the diarhea (sp?) and the calorie and carb count wasn't too different than having cream soup with skim milk. Hang in there. Right now you're thinking about food. I know I was. Trust me, when you get three days out, like I am now, you're thinking about surgery. And for what its worth, it does take your mind off of food. Hope this helps. BTW, the first week of pre-op diet I lost 12 lbs., now its kind of stabilized. I guess it was the crackers.
  9. That sounds wonderful. Your words came in handy to help motivate me while I still have a few days of liquid pre-op diet to go )cheated and ate a sleeve of saltine crackers yesterday cause I was feeling so crappy). Had my pre-op with the doc yesterday. He mused that a good target weight for me is 230 lbs. With a start of 305, he's thinking I'll lose 75 lbs. I want more. We'll see. I'm already down almost 20 lbs already. I go under the knife Thursday. The the fun really begins.

    Pre-op diet

Well, I've been a lurker here for awhile (this is my first post). But I am scheduled to get banded on the 12th of August. MY Dr. requires two weeks of liquids only. I tried to see if Scotch qualified as a liquid...to no avail. But starting Tuesday of next week, I'm officially out of the buffet line. I do like the idea of no carbing until Tuesday to get me weaned off of carbs. Anyone have any thoughts?
