Yogurt options pre-op
nomorefattypatty replied to BlessedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned from early on with my nut doctor that learning how to rehab my diet meant tasting food not add more sugar diet or otherwise. I don't crave very sugary drinks. I've been able to add just a half of a packet of stevia into my protein iced tea otherwise its too sweet. If you don't like Greek yogurt try a lowfat yogurt and add a scoop of unflavored protein to it. It adds your protein and you get the yogurt you really like, I tried it and loved it. I have used stevia sparingly because if I don't get the sugary cravings under control I will never eat properly. All white stuff has to go, sugar, bread, pasta and potatoes. If I have any pasta its only a half cup, if I want a potato I split one with my mom, I just try to eat the meat when I'm craving Italian bread with sausage and peppers sandwich I only eat the sausage and peppers and omit the bread. It doesn't make my mom very happy about any of this because she has an insane need, as an Italian mother to want her kids to eat pasta and eat it well. I believe that the hardest part of this journey for me was letting her adjust to the fact that I am not going to be able to eat the way I used to.She's getting better at it. We've never been big on too much sugar, they don't want you to eat sugar of any kind or choose low fat low sugar foods and adjust to it because its gonna help in the long run. nomorefattypatty replied to Serendippity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had problems with my pancreas and whenever I have a lot of acid in my stomach it can trigger an attack. I've been taking omeprazole for the last three years every morning and I haven't had any problems since. Mine is covered by my Aetna better health. You can also get it at Same club for about 22.00 a month. Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Leaving dieting behind
nomorefattypatty replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree if you think of it as dieting for the rest of your life you could definitely be setting yourself up for a downfall. However, I use mental imagery to set myself up for a lifetime change. I often picture myself eating vegetables, and passing up fast foods, or just remembering to measure out my portions. Its not because I'm restricting myself to a diet as I'm learning to eat healthy and pick better choices instead of just plowing food in my mouth just because its what I like at the moment. Once I start eating something its like I can't stop myself so I'm going to keep on making right choices for me and to protect my sleeve after surgery, everyone should. Leaving dieting behind
nomorefattypatty replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I totally agree, the food binging is how it all started. When I was younger I was never fat, but then I knew to cut out stuff I liked if I even felt my clothes a little tight. Over time I did recreational drugs and never ate hardly at all. When I quit seven years ago I turned to food. I have an addictive personality so I have to watch anything I do. Now through the help of my nut doctor and this Bariatric program, I am addicted to getting outside and enjoying the wonderful sunshine every day I'm able to. Yesterday I mowed my lawn which is about 4.6 miles of walking, then I walked to the bus stop which is a total of about another 3.8 miles. I try to plan to go outside each and every day if weather cooperates. The only thing that keeps me indoors is my leg and arm joint pain and arthritis, but if you don't move it you lose it. I am having my surgery on June 21st and any muscle definition I can get before I lose weight will help me look better and feel better about myself. Anyway just do the best you can with what God gave you because life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get. But you can guide yourself to a life you'll really want with hard work and determination Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Leaving dieting behind
nomorefattypatty replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its hard to know what works for some won't work for others I have learned through all of my nut classes and trying to incorporate all my new eating habits that I have bed, and I have to be careful with everything I eat or drink. My medicines don't help either. I have up a drug addiction 7 years ago and realized I substituted food instead, neither is good for me. I'm now using my AA tools for my food addiction as well. If I use the things I learned through my meetings and apply it to my food addiction I feel like I'm winning this insane battle I've been trying to fight for the past 7 years. Either way everyone needs to use whatever works for them. There is no right or wrong way to lose weight just as long as we do what works for each of us. I totally agree eating like that is what got me so fat in the first place I cannot afford to be non chalant with my eating habits because I have my surgery on June 21st and I don't think I'm ever going to miss bad foods or unhealthy food choices ever. I've worked too hard to get this surgery to have it all go to hell because of my unhealthy eating habits. I hope you do well. Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
nomorefattypatty replied to wlsfeb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She definitely needs some psychiatrist help, it's not a weakness to need some help and it could probably help her understand why she gained weight in the very beginning. I'm bipolar and get help from my psychiatrist it's not a bad thing to admit you need help, we wouldn't be here if we could do everything ourselves. I got into AA after years of drug abuse and am 7 years clean now but I quit drugs and adopted food as my new addiction. I use my steps in AA to help me with my food addiction. It has helped me immensely. I just do it one day at a time, sometimes when I am craving foods and I know I've reached my true limit I just distract myself and before I know it the craving is gone. It is truly worth a try to find what works for each individual, we are all different maybe what works for one won't work for someone else check out all your options and don't be so negative about seeing a psychiatrist they are truly some great drs. Good luck. Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
nomorefattypatty replied to wlsfeb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't agree I could never eat a whole pizza by myself now or especially after I have my surgery, she surely needs to see her Dr. to find out what to do I agree she needs immediate mental health care to find out why. Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I have had acid reflux forever and finally I've been on 40mg. Omeprazole, once a day for the past year and have had such relief it's amazing, I have to take it every morning but it works every day. Sometimes at night I might have to take an extra one or if I ate something that is a little too strong on my stomach but I try to eat properly and the medicine helps. I am bipolar and taking meds for that has given me nausea but it will also be helpful when I have my sleeve on June 2 1 St. Also I have zofran sublingual tablets for nausea they help also. No Negative Comments! Did anyone cheat during Pre op
nomorefattypatty replied to Misha42000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She wasn't asking a question with a question she was simply stating that there is a lot more to your question that maybe you might want to rethink, I mean why go through all this if we can't maintain and control our diets. Maybe you should get some help from some of the many support groups. She had some good points and you shouldn't take people's advise so critically we are just trying to help each other out on this website we have enough people putting us down because we're overweight, let alone we hit on each other. Congrats mine is June 21st, getting excited. The other day I dreamed I was in the hospital and didn't have much pain and I can remember wanting to get out of there the very next day. I believe my dreams because I've had precursor dreams before. So I'm pretty sure that the only real pain is gonna be the first day. Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app
