I completely agree. I'm 9 wks post surgery and am allowed to eat anything now, and People keep saying to me, oh when will you be able to 'eat normally' .........I tell them this is my normal now, I'm happy with it. I pretty much eat everything except for bread. I just try to eat as healthily as possible, and in much smaller amounts. I lose weight every week, sometimes only 1.5 lbs, but I'm happy.

Does anyone have a good recipe for homemade protein bars/snacks ?

I notice that most people's comments here say they don't eat rice or pasta. Do you find that you're very tired, or lacking in energy without the carbs ? I'm 10 wks post op, and can eat absolutely anything, but I find that without brown rice, or wholewheat pasta, wholewheat bagels in my diet I'm like a wet noodle all the time.....so tired ! I only eat small amounts, but I have carbs with every evening meal, sometimes lunch as well.

I think it's ok in moderation, but given that I like to drink a pint a day of semi skimmed and that contains 26.6g sugar, I thought I should cut it back. I'm not really sure if that's the right thing to do or not ?? But it's like everything else, probably ok in moderation.

Hi, that sounds lovely, I'll try the infused water. The Crystal light sounds interesting, is that available in U.K. ? -

Arthritis medication after surgery
susiesue replied to Sosewsue61's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was dreading having to stop anti-inflammatory meds, as I've taken them for about 6 yrs for arthritis of the spine, and problem with shoulders. So, I spent months researching natural anti-inflammatories, and have found curcumin. It has to have high strength bioavailability in order to work, but I believe it's a miracle cure. I have heard very positive things about it from a couple of people I know who use it, and I have emailed the details to my Sleeve surgeon and I'm seeing him next week for a check up, so he'll tell me if they're ok to use, my GP seems to think they are ok, so fingers crossed. The brand I've bought are CurcuDyn. But I'm sure there are others available too. Good Luck -
April 2017 sleevers how's it going?

I had my surgery on 24th April. Am doing great, no regrets, and so far ( touch wood) no problems. Have lost around 23lbs so far. Don't know if this is above or below average, but I'm happy. Have only started exercising a couple of days ago, so watch this space. I manage to get all my protein from food, but that does mean my fats/sugar contents are a little too high, but I'm working on it. Best thing: loving myself again, having spent years hating myself. Worst thing: cannot find anything I like to drink as cannot abide artificial sweeteners, so I struggle to get enough liquids in, it's a running battle ! Love fresh juice, love milk, but both are a no no in large amounts. I used to drink 2-3 litres of sparkling water a day, but just don't really like still water. Any advice welcome. -
No, thanks for that info, I'll look into it. X

Oh wow, that's an amazing weight loss, well done you. I am just coming up to 5 weeks ( sleeved 24/4/17) and have lost 22 lbs, which I'm perfectly happy with. I'm not having any protein shakes, I absolutely hate them, and I'm so sick and tired of spending money on different ones only to discover that they're foul ! I'm trying to get in as much protein as poss from food, but it's sooo hard, and I've been told by my dietician that I need to up my protein now to 65g daily. I can get my protein intake up, but then my fat / sugar intake is too high. So I'm struggling. I have eggs every day for breakfast, and I carry a chilled lunch bag with me wherever I go now with grilled chicken breast, and low fat cheese, Greek yoghurt, and beef jerky ( which I love ) so whenever I'm hungry, I eat from my protein stash. I know it would be much easier to find a palatable protein shake, but I suspect we don't have as much choice here in UK.

Not enough calories maybe? Confused....

Oh that's good. Hey, I'm hoping I will be a slow loser, that way there's less chance of baggy skin. I've been fat for 10 yrs, I don't mind taking a leisurely stroll towards Thin Ha Ha . -

I'm nearly 3 wks in, and a friend of mine had the same surgery a yr ago, she said best piece of advice she could give me was, only weigh once a month, otherwise you're in danger of becoming obsessed with weight loss. As I'm now weighing every single day, I've decided to take her advice, I'm hoping it'll take the pressure off . -
Great to hear someone else say they forget to eat slowly. I'm almost 3 wks post op, and I've found that on the odd occasion ( 3 times in nearly 3 wks) when I've over eaten, it's just been by a teaspoon, but God it makes a difference ! I'm uncomfortable for hours and hours, I find hot coffee is the only thing that goes some way to fixing it. It's so hard to gauge when you're full. I can do the 20 chews thing, it's the wait in between mouthfuls I'm forgetting to do, I have to try harder !

Hi, I had mine on 24th April. I'm in same boat, feel great but get sooooo tired. Fluids are my main problem too. Pre surgery I drank 2-3 litres a day of sparkling water, so that is the only thing I miss. Not a fan of plain water, and can't bear sugar free juice, so am trying fruit infused water, and am also drinking loads and loads of milk, but not sure I'll be able to continue with that, as it's quite high in calories. Good Luck

Hi I had my Sleeve Gastrectomy on 24th April. In U.K. It all went really well, and I'm doing fine, fortunately my surgeon only has his patients on liquid diet for 24hrs, then puréed / mashed foods for 2-3 wks, then I can eat anything as long as I can cut it with a fork. Does anyone know when you can take normal tablets i.e. Paracetamol. I don't do liquid meds, yeuch ! So have had no pain relief since day 2. But now and again I get a headache and would like to take a painkiller.

Stage 2 -One solid meal replacement. (Question)
susiesue replied to crivera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had one day of liquids, 4 weeks puréed, then 4 wks of anything soft enough to be cut with a fork. I'm only 5 days post op, but doing ok.
