Hello! Was searching around the Internet last Friday when I happened across this site. I'm so glad I did! Since then, I've spent hours reading posts, writing down tips, and generally putting my mind to rest over my upcoming VSG on May 12th. I couldn't figure out how to go back and edit things on my profile (starting weight, etc...), so here goes. Would be great to have a buddy to share in the highs and lows of our journey together. Surgery Date: Friday, May 12th Location: StarMedica Hospital, Juarez, Mexico Surgeons: Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villarreal & Dr. Elmo Aramburo Funding: Self-Pay My only main concern at the moment is travel. My husband is travelling with me from our home in New Hampshire to El Paso, TX (via Atlanta). This doesn't worry me for the outward journey, but am a little concerned about spending 8+ hours traveling 2 days after my procedure. Has anyone had a similar experience and is able to offer any advice?

Walter.Sobchak's answer is spot on. So in short, no, your insurance company cannot tell your employer what (if any) procedures you had done. That is, as long as you do not work for a health insurance company...

Anyone get REALLY scared close to surgery?
Bri_Guy replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great T.Rene! Makes it a little easier for those of us yet to go under the knife this week. I hope everything continues to go well for you. It definitely seems you've succeeded in one of the hardest parts, getting your mind adjusted to your new life. All the best to you! -
Wow - you look incredible! Such an inspiration - keep on keeping on!

I did tons and tons of research before I choose my surgeon (as I'm sure everyone else did, too!) I finally decided on going with BeLiteWeight after speaking with my representative, Jessica, and about 10 previous patients (I was supplied with a list of nearly a 100 previous patients who had volunteered to speak and share their experiences). Additionally, I liked the fact that my entire 4 day stay will be in their hospital. I know plenty of people here have done really well with having their operation and then moving into a 5-star hotel - which is great for them. That said, I've had major spinal surgery and donated a kidney to my sister 4yrs ago, so I felt it was important to have a full medical team available in the unlikely event their were complications.

Darn. I'll also be in Mexico, but in Juarez with Drs. Jose Rodriguez-Villarreal & Elmo Aramburo. Regardless, best of luck to you!

Hi LinzLou22 - I'm also the 12th. Where are you having your surgery done?

I love Hint - exactly as the label says, it has a hint of flavour, without tasting like bubble gum

Canadian going to Mexico
Bri_Guy replied to Rosemarie4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck to you this weekend! Do keep us posted when you are up and about. I'm also working with Jessica at BeLiteWeight and am scheduled for May 12th. Like you, have read many glowing reviews (and 1 negative one that I asked about) - but firsthand knowledge is priceless. Safe travels! -
<draws back the curtain> Greetings, salutations, and all that Jazz! I'm pre-op at the moment, so let me get back to you in 6 months to a year

Good luck Imlosingit! Mine is May 12th - and thankfully (I guess) I only have to do a high protein / low carb diet for the week before.

Uk Sleevers wanted to chat about your journey Pre op or Post op
Bri_Guy replied to chucklecheeks's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi chucklecheeks! Not in the UK at the moment, but I have dual citizenship and spent the last 15yrs in London. Does that count? Where in the UK are you? Believe you me, I can definitely relate to difficulty finding clothes, unkind glances on the High Street, etc... etc... If you need a friends to chat with, here for you. I'm being sleeved in the Mexico on May 12th, so pre-op for a few more weeks. -
Such an inspiration - you look incredible. Love your beaming smile in your new pics - you truly look so very happy! 18 days and counting to my surgery. It's such a comfort and boost to see those of you on the other side doing so well!

That's wonderful. He's a great father and grandfather and commits a lot of time to the VFW. I've decided not to tell him about my surgery, as I would love to surprise him the next time I visit. But I digress, sorry for the off topic, but thank you for your service!
-
Congrats Redmaxx on your journey - totally looks like you nailed it! My father is also involved in the VFW in his local area, Post 3243 in Fenton, MI. He's served as Commander twice. Perhaps you've met him? First name is Keith.

Apple - where in Mexico are you going for your surgery? Sorry if I missed it if you already posted. I'm travelling to Star Medica Hospital - Juarez, Mexico on May 11th, for my surgery on May 12th.

Hello looking for a sleeve buddy!!
Bri_Guy replied to MrzT2bsleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Indeed - starting to get nervous. Just wondering how I'm going to manage this whilst dealing with life events, but this is for me, and I just have to keep remembering that. I sent you a private message - give me a call if you like I've found this whole process kinda scary - so the more friends we have to see each other through - the better! -
Hello looking for a sleeve buddy!!
Bri_Guy replied to MrzT2bsleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi MrzT2bsleeved! After spending the best part of the last 43 years struggling to control my weight, I finally decided enough is enough. I'm being sleeved on May 12th. One can never have too many friends when starting this journey. I'm happy to have a buddy!
