Are essential oils okay to use after gastric bypass? I love lemon in my water and use DoTerra.... any thoughts?

Hi all, I'm wondering if bone broth is acceptable for the clear liquid diet. I'm guessing so but don't see anything mentioned on it here. It can be up to 10 grams of protein per 8 oz serving so I'm thinking it would be a great source.

Reactive Hypoglycemia After Bariatric Surgery
kidchick replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
What types of "snacks" do you keep on hand for this issue? I'm interested in knowing what would be doable during the liquid phase particularly. I'm thinking cottage cheese for the soft food time but this is not something you can have on hand in your purse on the go. Now, before WLS I always carry almonds in my purse. That's not doable after surgery.... -
oh yum - I'm going to go add some herbs...thanks! Good luck with the pre-op liquid diet - I have a feeling the bone broth will be a big help!

What else did you use - I put onions, carrots, kale, turmeric, a little apple cider vinegar, garlic, and lots of water of course....any other suggestions?

Thank you ladies - I looked up a few recipes and bought bones this morning and it's cooking as I type! Smells really good - can't wait to try it in several hours :).

How would one make it at home? What bones do you use?

Vitamin problem. Need suggestions
kidchick replied to Cober1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just received a coupon code in my email! Use code "Cheersto59" at checkout and the machine will cost $59 instead of the $99. -
I can't imagine it isn't okay so thank you. I'll talk with my doc when surgery is scheduled to be sure but wanted to start my list of things to prepare.....

Arbonne carries a vegan protein in vanilla and chocolate that I really love. I'm not fond of the pre-made ones but the power is really good and has been a life saver for me being lactose intolerant as well.

Vitamin problem. Need suggestions
kidchick replied to Cober1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recently purchased a Tespo and love it. The vitamins taste like tang did back in the day. It's a super small amount so very easy to take. I also purchased the sleep pod and love it, too. Definately worth the price in my book and if you order on subscription you get discounts depending on the number of pods you purchase so with me, my husband, and sleep I receive 40% all vitamins by subscribing to them monthly. -
I have a milk intolerance and I'm allergic to wheat so.... I use a pea/cranberry protein from Arbonne that is soooo good and carries 20 grams of Vegan protein per serving . They also have a flavor free Vegan protein that I add to shakes and soups as needed. Instead of milk I love the Silk Protein Nut Milk - it has 10 grams of protein per serving and it works well for me. This isn't an Arbonne commerical, however, they have these things called Fit Chews that are low in sugar and taste great. I enjoy the lemon ones the most. They are good for when I need a little something sweet.

Advice on whether to pursue VSG. BMI 35. Orthopedic disaster.

Thank you - I just ordered it from Amazon for my kindle - I'll begin reading it tonight! -
Hey all - so the reasoning for RNY is to lose weight so that I am not straining my back with added weight and the RNY has proven to be the most optimal surgery for situations like mine. I take Oxycodine as needed and had an ablation in December to help with lower back pain and it helped the left side a lot. I do not take NSAID's any longer. In the meantime I continue with steroid injections done in surgical facility under anesthesia every other month. My back doc has me on recumbent bike exercising only - he does not want me walking for exercise because of the stress it puts on my joints and spine due to spinal stenosis, annular tears and disc herniation's and therefore weight loss has proven difficult to impossible. My weight loss doc has had several referrals from my back doc and after talking to me about all that I've done already to try to regain back health he recommended RNY believing it is the best option for me. Heather S is correct and I would rather be walking and enjoying life with my grandbabies than being confined to a wheelchair in chronic pain! I just finished all but one of my pre-op testing so I'm nearing the finish line to see if I qualify through my insurance.....

Hi - I'm new on here and there is tons of info - super excited to dig through all these posts. In the meantime I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what kind of weight loss to expect monthly when I have a total of 50 pounds to lose. I have been referred for RNY by my back surgeon and approved for it due to severe back issues - I'm only 5 feet tall so the extra weight causes continued issues and I am not approved for exercise other than a recumbent bike because I am not to do weight bearing anything until I can get at least 30 pounds off - then I will be approved for walking and strengthening. Any info would be great appreciated. Thank you!

This is a very helpful post - I don't "qualify" for WLS either - bmi too low and 50 lbs overweight by the charts but I feel the same way - it's not going to get better and I have a very bad back and am unable to do a lot of weight bearing exercising (per doctors orders) so the weight is just not coming off. I appreciate this info and this site so much - I'm new but learning so much and am so encouraged by the responses on this post. I stopped telling people my back doctor referred me for WLS because they think I'm ridiculous for even considering the possibility. The truth is, I don't want to live in pain for the rest of my years if I can do something about it! -
Boost Your Protein with Unflavored Protein Powder
kidchick replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Arbonne makes a protein boost that is flavor-less - it is made with pea and cranberry protein - vegan friendly so no whey - very nice and has 10 grams of protein per serving
