Hmmm.......Sneaky????
kidchick replied to Deleted Account's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope that wasn't one of my posts! If so I'm sorry. I am excited about the Tespo and have mentioned it a few times on here and gave a link to someone interested in them....I noticed that BariatricPal is selling them now, also, so that's good....I'll refer people to this site from now on. -
Items to have on hand post-op
kidchick replied to allie2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
A couple other thoughts - 1. There is a fairly new protein water available if you are okay with whey protein. It's called Protein2O and it has a good taste to it with 15 grams of protein per serving and no sugar. I like the grape and wild cherry flavors. If you contact the company they will send you a handful of coupons for .50 off each bottle so it makes it more affordable to try. 2. Bone broth is something to look into. It has tons of protein with a bit stronger taste than regular broth. It can be quite expensive to purchase but may be worth checking into - pick up a container just to try. I make my own and there are lots of recipes...google bone broth or I'd be happy to tell you how I make mine if interested. I did order some 8oz sized ones from Amazon to have available at first when I'll be away from home. 3. I read someone suggested a mug plate - one of those things you can plug in to keep your coffee warm. She used it with her small dinner plates and bowls to keep food warm since we are to eat over a 30 minute period. I thought that was clever. 4. A Yeti-type double insulated mug - again because we are drinking a lot and things warm things go cold in a regular mug. For hospital stay someone mentioned a pair of pajama bottoms so your back end isn't hanging out while walking the halls at the hospital lol - thought that was a good idea..... -

what do you use the papaya tablets for? -
I love to add a few cucumber slices and a sprig of mint to my water. I use so much that I have begun to free cucumber slices and mint so I can keep a good stock on hand. If I have frozen whole strawberries on hand I place a couple in my water with the cucumbers and mint - yum! DoTerra essential oils is another thing I use. I love the lemon and put two drops in a 16 oz bottle and off I go. I keep the bottle in my purse for adding a drop or two in my restaurant water as well. Helps with bad water flavor. If you are a "sweet" person True Lemon and True Lime carries lemon/limeade - black cherry limeade is great and it's sweetened with stevia. Stur is also sweetened with stevia and they have several flavors that are good. And lastly - I just came across Protein2o water. Its a bit costly but if you contact the company they'll send you out coupons so you can give them a try for less. I like the Grape and Wild Cherry flavors and they have 15 grams of whey protein in them. I'm not a fan of whey but for an occasional easy to pack and take drink these are good.

I've read this as well - good advice, thanks!

Cool - thanks - I'll go check it out!

The flavor of the bariatric one is like Tang back in the day. It does not taste like vitamins! If you order through the link I attached you can get $30 off the machine. I think you can even google Tespo coupons and add a 2nd one at check out if you can find one to make the price even less. Bone broth is so easy to make and I really enjoy it. Hope you do, too! Keep in touch!

I am planning also - Oct 19th here. Liquid stage I was told to get sugar free jello, water enhancers like Crystal light, and broth. I am using bone broth because it provides a lot of protein. I got a recipe from someone on here and made some up - very good! You can also purchase it but it's pretty costly. I also understand sugar free Popsicles are good to have on hand and diet fruit juice diluted. I purchased a Tespo machine and love it! You can purchase bariatric vitamins for both men and women along with other options. I've seen others here like the patch vitamins but my doc said he doesn't believe they do as well as the Tespo does but that's just his opinion. For the puree stage I have black beans I pureed (yes I'm OCD too and have stuff ready already lol) and pea soup pureed. I'll grab some unsweetened applesauce and sugar free pudding and yams to mash also. I'll be using Arbonne protein shakes because I've used them for years and love the taste and they have 20 grams of protein per serving. I'll be following you to see what else others suggest :).

Oh wow - thank you so much. This is awesome! -
Hi - does anyone have experience after WLS with their hypoglycemia? It seems to me it would get worse and if this correct, what did you do to keep in under control? Thanks in advance!

I'm hiding my surgery from family anyone else ?
kidchick replied to mzsantiago88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you - putting a modest amount of food on my plate and swishing it around sounds like a great plan. I shared this idea with my husband and he said he'd be happy to pick at my plate while eating his so even less food is left on my plate LOL -

I've told my husband and oldest son - no one else. I'm still struggling with if this is the right way to go - surgery is scheduled in October. My biggest concern is how do I share in holiday meals without being questioned as to my food choices based on where I am post-op and food amounts and if I am questioned what will my cover story be? I'm not worried about weight loss being noticed, just how slow I will be eating, what I will be eating and the amount I will eat....any thoughts -
Surgery date: October 17...Is 1 day in the hospital enough?
kidchick replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm scheduled the same day as you with an overnight stay as well. A friend just had WLS recently with an overnight and said it was no problem. -

Protein powder with no concentrate?
kidchick replied to Lmichelle310's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Arbonne Protein powder - it is Vegan so there is no dairy in it nor is there soy which can cause problems for some. I love it and it carries 20 grams of protein per serving so it's great for helping to get the protein in. They also carry an unflavored protein boost that adds 10 grams of protein per serving that can be used in soups or to add to protein shakes, jello, etc. -

That is so good to hear!

Hi - I'm wondering if the use of essential oils is okay after bypass surgery? I love lemon oil in my water and hope that I can continue using it and others. Anyone have experience with this and whether or not your docs have been okay with it? I use them a lot, for sore throats, upset stomach, etc. Mostly topically but I safely use some of them internally. (I use DoTerra). Any thoughts, ideas, articles, etc would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks everyone - I was concerned about using them with healing at the beginning. I will ask my NUT first but appreciate your input. I'll check out the pastense, too! Thank you. If you learn anymore please post. I'll do the same :).

Weight loss calculators/predictors at each month
kidchick replied to Emailkariann's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for your insight. I, too, have made several changes and am moving to more of a WFPB lifestyle. I removed wheat about 4 months ago, totally, and that has helped considerably. I will continue to tweak it as I go along. I already live with little to no sugar, processed foods and dairy so I'm on the right track. Looking forward to getting my weight off and my back to a place that I can enjoy life with the grandbabies that much more :). Blessings! -
Weight loss calculators/predictors at each month

Apple1 - I see you have a total of about 50 pounds of weight to lose from beginning to end. That is my situation as well. I am approved for surgery due to back issues with the desired loss to be about 50 pounds. Do you have any words of wisdom for a fellow 50 pounder? I'm having RNY on October 19th. -
I got my approval this morning and am scheduled for October 19th! No pre-op diet for me - just clear liquids after midnight on the 18th. I'm super excited to start feeling better. I was approved for surgery due to back issues. Insurance agrees it's a better option than back surgery even though I don't qualify though the weight and BMI requirements. I am looking forward to less pain and a better quality of life in the very near future. So thankful to have you all to follow and learn from :).
