I had surgery 3 months ago and am in exactly your situation @nickyvsg! I actually felt that I was writing the post lol. I've been told to check with a dermatologist as they're better equipped to deal with this stuff.

Hows it going everyone? I am traveling these days. Appetite is not even half of what it used to be. a few bites and I'm full!! I havent stepped on the scale for 2 weeks now almost, but my clothes are fitting better and I actually wore an outfit I had made 4 yrs ago last week that wouldn't fit. So the NSV's are definitely there!

So I just tried a scrambled egg with cheese and other than the fact that I couldnt manage more than 4 bites and my bfast has stretched into lunch, it tasted great and felt so good to be able to chew something - I mixed some salt and pepper into the egg whipping and add cheese while it was on the stove.

Im so sorry to hear @sonjak1. Glad your feeling better @DS1 I started pureed food today. Will do scrambled eggs tomorrow.. and report back. I had home food pureed today and it tasted fine. Was only able to have a few spoons and was done!

@bs19gal Good job for trying! You'll get there - slow and steady! I'm actually hesitant to go back to the gym at the moment. My dr said to wait 6 weeks and to walk walk walk. So thats what I'm doing! @DS1 Just breathe. You'll be fine!

Dont be - I had someone the same weight as me whose down 25 lbs only a day earlier surgery than me. I'm down almost 20 in 10 days! and my clothes fit better, I look better and I feel awesome (other than the surgical incisions)

I had gas pains but I was walking about 1 hr after waking up and I made it a point to get up and out of bed every 2 hours or so unless I fell asleep. I was drugged up very well with morphine so that might have been helpful but I know the walking helped a lot, I did have left shoulder pain one day 2 but that went away as soon as I went to walk. The surgery is painful and ofcourse the healing is individual but dont let the gas pain scare you! All the best!

Oh wow! I guess each surgeon is different. Mine has me on the liquid phase until monday (got sleeved april 10th). So I cant say Im not jealous haha.. The pain goes away once you walk. Its mainly gas and the more you sit the more it'll accumulate so try and move as much as you can. I have to remind myself to move more but once I do I feel a ton better! Enjoy the egg tomorrow!!

Food on Long Haul Flight - Traveling 3 weeks post-op
reignmystic posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I'm on a 13 hr flight on the 30th of April and was wondering what to do about food - my husband was awesome enough to upgrade me to business class so I know I'll have a menu card with options (and they're GOOD options) but I'm still a bit wary. I'll be exactly 3 weeks that day, starting my 4th and I know it says that you can transition to soft texture foods or stay with pureed for another week. So far I've been doing fine, my doctor wants me to continue with the liquid diet this week just to make sure I'm doing ok (surgery was a week ago). So my fellow sleevers+travellers... any tips? -
@DS1 I had my sleeve surgery on the 10th and can totally relate. Ive been averaging around 400-500 cals a day too but that's ok because the sleeve is healing. Initially I thought the Dr was putting me on pureed food starting day 8, but when i called to confirm he said no way and asked me to continue the liquids for another week, I am not hungry most of the day - when I am I try to sip on water first before my protein shake. Today I did go out and get a decaf skinny white mocha but only a few sips in and I was done (and that was a tall btw). Mostly I'm sipping on a protein shake I make in the morning , and chicken broth, water - I went out and got jello and custard to break the monotony so excited to actually taste something different - For me the first 5 days were hectic. I was discharged after 1 night in the hospital, and I felt fine until the morphine line was taken out 3 days post op. The one big incision on the left of my stomach hurt ALOT so much so that the dr had to give me a higher dose of painkillers than I was taking. Haven't needed pain meds since yesterday - which is a relief because crushing up those tablets and having to drink that down is NOT my idea of pleasant. Im so ready for monday!!!

Amazing progress @wcherry5901. I'll be 14 days post on Monday - cannot wait to actually chew on something - One thing that is helping is jello and custard - hope it goes well for you xx

Missing food: so emotional
reignmystic replied to katieroybal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know its ok to be sad. its a lifestyle change. It's not easy and it won't be for a little while. It will get better though.. I'm only 6 days post op but today I feel better. Tomorrow I start pureed food as per my doctor and you know what? I'm ecstatic!! Basically I'm relearning HOW to eat again - from liquids to pureed to hopefully solids in a few weeks, but more conscious of portion! When you see the scale move, the clothes fit better, the overall changes; food will become something much less important. Letting go of what once was is always hard.. and who says you wont be able to have "some" things - key is.. moderation. you will start comparing nutritional values and see what is better and slowly but surely everything will fall into place. -
How's it going everyone? I'm 5 days post-op - surgery was on the 10/04. Still sore at one of the incision sites but overall better than I was yesterday!!
