NC Road to Sleeve to DS Revision

Your surgeon assured you that it is resolved with the DS? -
Staples will always be there. The risk of leak gets smaller and smaller over time. Nothing is impossible, but I doubt you can cause a leak by eating something. But, if you have a severe trauma to your stomach like an accident, that may lead to a leak.

NC Road to Sleeve to DS Revision

Do you mind if I ask if you had any acid reflux with the sleeve? -
Another possible prespective, living with long-term risk of complications due to the surgery, such as strictures. None of us are assured to live that long.

NC Road to Sleeve to DS Revision

All the best. I recommend you check the obesityhelp.com DS forum. Such great and knowledgeable folks Were you a band to sleeve revision? -
I just cringed when I read this! Why would you trust the same surgeon? Also, you do realize your risk for complications was increased significantlyas this is your third wls and second revision. Furthermore with a tighter sleeve your far more prone to gerd, strictures and gastric torsion. Is it really worth it? Anyway, hope your okay post op

Abdominal Pain that travels down my thigh

Gallbladder? You're still early out. Get it checked before it's too serious -
One word, ulcers! As a sleeved person you can't take NSAIDS, steriods or smoke. Basically avoid anything that can cause an ulcer. There's not much stomach tissue left and ulcers eat away at your stomach
-
Good luck! I am curious was your sleeve stretched or the surgery was done incorrectly? Do you have acid reflux now?
-
I was thinking of older wls and with a google search ran into a forum for folks who had the VBG. Reading the stories of folks who are dealing with complications 10 and 20 years was scary!

Nutrisystem after weight loss surgery?
Blater replied to Lexigurl82's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with the above. Leave those fad diets behind. -
Ah ok. I think...the mere fact you lose 80 percent of your stomach is still pretty invasive. GL!
-
Do they leave more of the stomach with the mini-sleve? That's interesting.
-
I have seen a few posts resleeve, try the search function. Out of curiosity, did you see the image of your stomach yourself? It would be interesting to see how much it has stretched and how much will be removed. Moreover what would the stop your stomach from stretching again? Hope you get some experience responses!

Band to Sleeve, Still Nervous wife not thrilled
Blater replied to rosstheboss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just came across this 6 year study on the effectiveness of a revision. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/28347647/?i=24&from=gastric sleeve -
I am not sure abut deaths from being put to sleep. But yes, there are reported deaths from complications like leaks and blood clots. Check pubmed and do a search. The gastric sleeve is a simpler surgery than the bypass but not less invasive. It's a major surgery with significant risks.

The OP must be wondering what happened to her post! Lol

So I am struggling quite a bit with acid reflux that's leading to esophagitis. My throat is very sore and I cam feel every swallow. I am taking 40 mg pantaloc right now in the mornings. Any suggestions are welcome
-
Ok Interesting. I didn't realize Greek yogurt was acidic. As thsts the last thing I ate that led to an attack. I don't eat any spicys food, no citrus, etc etc. Acid reflux post op is not only caused by food, it's mechanical issue unfortunately
-
You should be careful. Nsaids even in normal people leads to ulcers let alone in a person with so little of stomach tissue left. Take them with lots food and ppi if you can't avoid them
-
To be quite honest, you can cycle through all the prescription ppis until you hopefully find something that works, but at the end of the day if nothing works and you continue to reflux the only option is to revise to Gastric Bypass. It's mess to be honest and my acid reflux is slowly going out of control si in a couple of years if none of the meds work I will need a third wls. For now if you're not on prescription meds for acid reflux get your hands on some asap.

Revision with bmi 33? Anyone had it?
Blater replied to jnewbie's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
True, you can't avoid the GERD but it can be most likely resolved by a third revision to RNY. GL
