  1. I had a staged duodenal switch. When I started I was 441, now I’m sticking at 295 but mostly because of a lymphatic mass that I hope will be removed this spring. The plastic surgeon says he thinks it is easily 30 to 45 pounds. My pain is less that it was 150 #s ago... it is not gone but I have more mobility and more ability to do more things for myself! Both of my knees are bone on bone and I use a walker to get around at home, and a wheelchair when we go out. There are “inconveniences” after having the surgery but I sure don’t want to go back!

    What just happened?

When I had surgery it was 4-6 weeks before anything “solid.” Don’t rush. I also remember being “sick” of protein drinks, especially post surgery!

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Surgery TODAY! DS at noon! I’ve been waiting for 6 months for this portion of my journey. Sure, I’m a little apprehensive but I’m confident in my surgeon, the hospital, and God. 20 months past sleeve, and 100# down from when we initially started pursuing WLS. Under the knife by 2:00 this p.m. Your prayers are appreciated!

    Pain Relief

I’m prepping for DS surgery so I can get both knees replaced... both are bone on bone. Orthopedic dr won’t do anything til I’m under 300 (275 preferred) and get skin removed... insurance doesn’t allow plastic surgery til 18 months to 2 yrs post op and weight loss plateau... sooo it’s a long journey but we will make it!
  5. Preparing for DS surgery! I’m preparing for DS surgery 11/8! Had sleeve done in March ‘17 as start of staging for this! I just love these protein drinks soooo much (pardon my sarcasm)... started from my highest at 464# got as low as 350, now maintain at about 360. Hang in there folks! Getting this far has taken a lot of time, Dr appointments, phone calls... you know! It’s been a long road and the journey is just started! More to come as we go!

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Just got thru pre-op tests and checks! I’m go for surgery 11/8 for stage 2. Was sleeved in March 2017 getting duodenal switch coming soon! Back to protein diet for 2weeks pre-surgery. Went from 446 to 360 with sleeve. Looking for suggestions for exercises. I’m on a walker b/c of knees, or a wheelchair if “out on the town” can’t do long distances. All this plus plastics to remove excess skin THEN heading for knee replacement! Chime in folks! Thx for your help!
  7. I'm 1 month out and still getting used to the new me! My problem is constant belching... using kiddie utensils helps out some... makes me eat slower and possibly let less air in also...

    One month out !

Thrilled with my outcome so far! Started process in August 2016. 446#! Day of surgery 397# on 3/9/17! One month check in 370! Not only loosing weight but also medications! I'm done with insulin (10 yr. user)! Morning sugars have been 110 - 125! So far it's been worth it!
  9. I just had gastric sleeve 3/9/17! Mid 40s would have been nice but insurance and finance would not allow. So here I am at 59 and one month post-op. The changes are surprising and daily! I'm down 20#s from surgery and 70+#s from when I started getting clearance/ medical tests, checkups and follow ups. I can't wait til 3 month check up and hopefully having lost 100+#s by then! Hang in there youngsters! Best is yet to come!
