If any of you could have had the sleeve done in your 20's would you?
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to rachel_babe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a sleever, but I think this is still relevant. In my 20s I wasn't emotionally ready yet. I wasn't ready to make the big sacrifice and commit to the program. I wasn't mature enough yet. I had to go through some dieting experiences and have the big 'aha' moments first. I think I could have gotten it done in my 20s had I wanted it bad enough, but I didn't. I wasn't ready for the commitment and the sacrifice. -

New BariatricPal Tracking App! What Features Do You Want?
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Having the option of tracking a single bite of something. I don't know how many grams or ounces is in the average bite of food. I too use MFP because of the huge database. -

I want to join in! -
I've been using straws the past week and no issues. I don't see what all the fuss is about, but maybe not everyone can use them as easily as I can.

How often so you weigh in?
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to maggieO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm up three pounds today from a week ago, despite eating an average of 800 Val's a day. I should stop weighing daily. It's maddening. -

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's because everyone these days has a M.D. from Google and Very Strong Opinions[emoji769]. I'm only going to tell people I regularly eat or drink with because I will soon be unable to eat or drink that way. -
My 600 lb life
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to Candigal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Skin Tight because it's people closer to my weight at their start. My 600 lb life is harder for me to relate to. -

Glad to hear you're feeling better already! -
I got a Mirena for a few reasons unrelated to surgery, but it turned out to be a even better idea once I found out I wouldn't be allowed to take the pill for a year after surgery. Implantation was... unpleasant... but it's been great since. I've spotted a tiny bit a couple times. If you decide to do a hormonal IUD, this is probably it. Ask your doctor about getting a cervical block during implementation.

What's eating like 2+ years out?
Roux-en-McClanahan replied to Roux-en-McClanahan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks, cat woman! Crazy as it sounds, I like the idea of having the threat of dumping as it acts as a natural incentive to avoid too many carbs and fats. I desire that limitation. I'm hoping my stomach stays small for life as it will be easier to maintain that way. -
