    Breakfast help

One of my favorite breakfasts is white beans with roasted diced tomatoes (both canned) with avocado and Moroccan spices. It's really easy to split into small servings from one batch. I also like adding a over easy egg on top. I just myself moved to purée myself but am really looking forward to eating this again. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 243.2
  4. After month of liquids total from preop and post op, I was feeling so incredibly thirsty all the time. I was drinking 100oz of fluid and had clear urine. Turns out since I was only doing my protein shakes that have 11% of my daily sodium recommendations each, I wasn't getting enough sodium to actually have the fluids I was drinking enter my tissues and blood. It was just going straight through me and compounding my dehydration. Lesson learned. Make sure you keep up in you electrolyte balance. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 243.2

Maybe Backing Out - Too Scared

I'm not self pay but most people that I have read with complications still would have the surgery all over again. Also note that the people with completely smooth sailing don't really post how easy it has been. I'm only three weeks out from my bypass so I can't say if something won't pop up, but my experience so far has been very typical surgery recovery. However you need to look at everything that has lead you to consider having surgery, weigh all your options, and make the choice that is best for you. You can always call the person that did your psych evaluation and discuss your worries with them. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 243.2

    Sitting up

I found when sitting with a pillow for support over incisions helps. I am 17 days post op and it still bothers me a bit to sit straight upright. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 243.2

    Losing Weight on PreOp Diet

    I lost 12 on my ten day diet. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 247.2
  9. Well, I finally ventured out today. We went to the mall and saw Spider-Man Homecoming. Then we went to Red Robin where I had a cup of beef broth since I'm still on clear liquids. I was in a fair amount of pain towards the end, but think it was good for me to get out. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 247.2
  10. I had my surgery 6/29 and I got in 64oz of fluid starting day three post op. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 247.2

    Coffee?

I like big train protein powder. It comes in a mocha that doesn't clump when you add it to your morning coffee. I got mine from Amazon. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 247.2

  13. I have a foam wedge pillow that has been a blessing. Makes it easier to get up and down into bed since I'm not completely supine. I've liked having the premade premier shakes because from day one I've been able to get 60grams of protein in by drinking two slowly through the day (I'm currently Six days post op). I personally couldn't put the abdominal binder I got on by myself so I used a small dense pillow or small blanket folded into a small rectangle to support my side. Find loose easy to put on clothes. SAIL INTO SUMMER CHALLENGE

Dashofpixiedust8 I'm doing well. I'm struggling when I'm up and walking. I can only tolerate about ten minutes then I need to take a break. I keep thinking each day will be easier to walk but that hasn't been the case. I'm looking forward to being able to move freely again. Pre surgery I swim for an hour three to five days a week. HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6
  15. No. At least I didn't. They had the pre op stuff set up in case the radiologist didn't like what he saw with the first drink. I didn't have to drink much of the first drink, but it was so nasty to me. HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6
  16. How gross the drink for the upper gi X-ray the day after my surgery was. It tasted like soap. It was not the same drink I had pre-op. HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6

Should I force myself to eat more?

My nutritionist says to stay at 600-800 until goal is met and not to increase until then. HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6
  18. The protein shakes don't need to be clear. The hospital gave me high protein ensure and I started premier protein shakes when I got home. HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6
  19. I had surgery 6/29 and laughing hurts. My hubby keeps forgetting and makes me laugh. I feel like I should yell that line from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? "One of these days you're going to die laughing." HW-292 SW- 256.6 CW-256.6
  20. My blood pressure has been running low so I haven't been allowed pain meds. I'm pretty uncomfortable but managing. Lol, what choice do I really have.
