Any December Sleevers?
anjelinaj replied to weightnomore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for December 29th.....great way to start the new year, right? I imagine I will be on my liquid diet thru the holidays, and that sucks, but will have to be a testament to how much I want this..... When I was first scheduled I was incredibly anxious and nervous, now I am becoming more excited to get this show on the road...=) -
My surgeon requires I enter all my health information onto w website called RemedyMD BEFORE my initial visit. Anyone elses surgeon require this? I heard it was for research purposes. I dont like giving my health info to a third party internet site without knowing exactly what they are doing with it.

I am a new Christian, and started the Lapband journey before giving my heart to Jesus. I have been struggling with the decision about whether or not to go through with this, and what to I see, THIS THREAD. I will continue to pray for guidance, and know the Lord will have his way. Thanks again!!

Hey guys.....I haven't posted for awhile probably because I felt like my appt was so far off. I am going to Florida for a week, and then my appt will follow. I am still worried my insurance won't pay, cause I'm right there on the line. :-( We'll see!!

Nay, i do have the 6 month wait, but my appt with Watson is not till June, i am thinking of switching to Hodge, not to get in sooner, but because i have heard he has a better bedside.
-
Sorry to hear about your setbacks. Do you have to do the six month wait? If so, at least it won't postpone your surgery. What did you think of Hodge? I am thinking of switching from Watson to Hodge.

I assume, even though you are talking in the third person, this is your personal experience. Please correct me if I'm wrong) What was the reason you wanted to see the ultrasound before the abortion? -

An assumption was made about what I posted, I made an assumption about the reply to my post.....how is that accusatory? Personally, i think the reason people can't have a civil conversation about abortion is because it always breaks down into name calling and personal attacks. gagetlady=When someone opens up a line of discussion on a public forum, it is not an invasion of privacy for someone to ask questions related to that issue. I didn't open a line of discussion about whether or not I had an abortion. -

anjelinaj replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, that would be the wrong assumption. I was there to support a friend. Why do you want to know if she looked at the ultrasound? I assume it's because: 1. How could she look at an ultrasound of her 'baby' and then have an abortion? or 2. Why didn't she look? Did it make her feel sad to look @ her 'baby' and then have an abortion? I only posted because you stated mother's are not allowed to look @ ultrasounds in abortion clinics because 'it's bad for business' and I knew in this case it wasn't true. It would be intersting to know which side of this debate throws around false statements the most. -
This really rang true for me. When I was in PT school, I was working in a clinic, and had a PT from the Phillippines supervising me. He didn't get any slang or sarcasm-and to make matters worse, we are in the heart of Appalachia!!!! It was so fun messing with him at times, and he would do the same to me, by acting like he had no clue what I was trying to tell him, and then bust out laughing at me.

While I can't speak for every abortion clinic in America, I can speak for one. The ultrasound tech did ask if the mother wanted to see the fetus, and the ultrasound was only performed prior to the abortion, not after to see if there were still 'baby parts' in the womb. I never got the impression the clinic staff was trying to meet a quota, and showing ultrasounds would be 'bad for business.' Rest assured this is an extremely personal and heart wrenching decision for most women. We think we know what we will do, but sometimes, until you are there, you don't. I stand proud as a pro-choice supporter. -
Psych Eval...WAY too long, WAY WAY too long
anjelinaj replied to MMS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to laugh out loud at whoever it was that referred to their therpist as Captain Obvious. Too funny. As I have gone thru life (all but a brief period 5 years ago) overweight, i have put my own psych spin on things. We all have our own way of dealing with things. Some eat , some drink, some do drugs, some work out, some starve, some are angry, some internalize everything, some sleep, some make their lives so busy they don't 'have time' to deal with things, etc. Some of these things are healthier and more socially acceptable than others. That being said, I am a girl who can wipe tears with one hand and eat with the other--BUT I also LOVE food, and often food is the focus of celebratory events in my life-Graduate from college? let's go out to eat! New job? Let's go out to eat! Get a raise? lets go out to eat! Hear some good news? Let's go out to eat! Birthday? Anniversay? Holiday? Let's go out to eat! You get the picture. I am looking @ this procedure as a way to start over from scratch and learn to eat right. Sorry to go on & on, I'm just excited!! -
Thanks! no my doctor didnt tell me that but I read it in the medication info. I didn't know if I could take it before bed-does it make you feel nervous, or did you have any insomnia? Did you lose any weight with it?

anyone here diagnosed with hypothyroidism? When I went to my PCP to get the referral to a surgeon, he gave me the referral, but said he wanted to check my thyroid. They called today with my bloodwork results and said I need to go on meds for my thyroid. I imagine this will delay any surgery (and possibly the consult )until it is under control? Anyone with similar experience, please let me know! Thanks guys!

I have read and read but I cant find anything on where the port site is. I am a physical therapist (HOW IRONIC IS THAT?!) and I often work with patients on transfers. This sometimes requires my arms to be in close to my body when lifting, and am wondering about the sensation of feeling the port under my skin. Thanks for any info!!

Hey guys! So cool to see people from the Tri-Cities on this site. i think I am addicted. My consult is in June with 'the other one' and now I'm thinking i should switch. I got Dr W's name from a friend-where she got it I don't know. My PCP got me the appt, because I said Dr W--Should I/can I switch to Dr. Hodge????

Newbie needs a weightloss buddy/have 6 months to wait.
anjelinaj replied to bonnn39's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so disheartened when I found out I had to wait so long. I am feeling really motivated NOW. Anyway.....guess it will give me more time to think about this decision. Does anyone have the same feeling as me, that this is a chance to start over, and learn from scratch the right way to eat? I think that is why I am so excited, and HATING to wait SO LONG :wink2: -
How To Hide Lap Band From Work
anjelinaj replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not planning on telling people either.....I live in a small town, and people are too nosey, and I don't want people commenting and talking about it. It is MY business. -
If You Had To Gain Weight to Get Lap-Band Covered By Insurance...?
anjelinaj replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
LMAO!! My appt is in JUNE of course. Jeans will probably be the heaviest thing I could get by with without raising eyebrows. It will be hard to remember not to take out keys, cell phone, shoes-I'm used to trying to ditch anything that might make the scale go up! -
If You Had To Gain Weight to Get Lap-Band Covered By Insurance...?
anjelinaj replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am all set for my first consult to get the band. I am nervous, but excited. I am worried about the BMI and insurance question, though. I am right on 40 now, but my insurance is requiring me to go back to my surgeon once a month for 6 months. I would hope to lose some during this time, but am afraid my insurance will deny me if I drop below the required 40. Anyone with similar insurance requirements??
