    Physician heal thyself ....

Marc ~ Just from reading your post I could sense what a special man you are. I am sure you are loved beyond measure by many. So much of what you shared has nothing to do with gender, race or sexual orientation. It's what all obese people come to right before they are ready to really do something about it. I spent my last week pre-surgery feeling some really deep things and having some big emotional meltdowns due to the fact that I was so tired of "carrying" this weight. Not just the pounds...but the hurt, humiliation, dissapointments of prom dresses not worn, and family hikes I opted out of and basically the fact that I sat out on life. Do this for yourself...you won't regret it. Dr. Kuri did the surgery for me and my best friend and we had a phenominal experience. Definitely do your research but don't doubt for a second that you are so worth doing this for and every pound you lose you will find a little more of yourself. I am so glad that you found this site. You will be supported, heard, understood, answered and most certainly welcome!!!! (((((HUGS)))))
  2. Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that we leave for Mexico Friday morning!!!!! Just wanted to say thank you to all who post here, who have given us a wealth of information, different points of view to consider, emotional support that understands just how this journey feels. Whether its worrying about what to eat after or working through a lifetime of struggling with emotional issues from being overweight...you all have something to offer! So thanks to everyone and we are so looking forward to sharing our struggles and successes when we get home!:clap2:

    QUESTION for moms.. FUNNY

These just cracked me up...my oldest couldn't say vagina so she called it "My China" which seemed fitting to her daddy!! Now they just refer to it as my privates. When our oldest was 3 we had "the moment" when dad's and daughter's have an "awareness" moment and total modesty begins. My husband was in the shower and our daughter opened the curtain and was talking to him and then focused in on his penis. She ran to me (I was in the kitchen) screaming and crying, "I need tape...I need tape!!!" I asked her why and she replied, "Daddy's hoo-hoo is broken and it's just hanging there!" I held back the laughter and asked why she wanted tape and with motions she said "I will pick it up for him and tape it to his bum!" So, needless to say my horrified hubby has never left the shower unrobed since that day and I laugh everytime I tell the story 7 years later!!! Kids say the darndest things that is probably half the reason they bring us so much joy!!!

    Bellingham Bandsters?

Hi Kathleen, I am from Lynden and getting banded on July 8th!!!! Yeah!! I would love to chat sometime, especially since I am telling very few people that I am doing this. I'll be sending you many "happy" thoughts for this journey. Plus I would love to know who is going to do your fills. I recently heard they were starting to do the surgery in B-ham. Had you heard that too???? Good luck with everything. Have a great day!
  8. Hi all, I haven't been on for a long time and before that I was a newbie. Proud to say that in the middle of personal crisis for the last 6 months which includes my first separation from my husband (married 9 years) I have booked my date! My surgery is July 8th...I'm beyond excited and really not nervous or trying to talk myself out of it...I think because I never really do anything for me. Anyway, hubby and I are trying to work it out but he is very jealous of me at my current weight (258)...I am worried how he will respond to the weightloss. I would value and appreciate all feedback... anyone else experience this? I have always tried to make him feel secure and loved. So I am stumped! Thanks...Have a great day!

    Instructional Video???

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any information on an instructional video or tutorial of some sort that I could give to my Doctor. He is willing to learn how to do my fills and handle my post-op care, and nothing would thrill me more. It will save me hours on the road...since I would have to drive at least three hours to the nearest fill doc. Also, he is willing to charge me for a regular office visit. Would love any feedback!:help:

    Instructional Video???

Thanks so much for the response and the valuable info...I'll pass it on to my Doc. Do you think that it is a better decision to have someone local that is willing to learn to do my fills that already handles my health care or do you think it's in my best interest to go to a doctor that is comfortable doing fills? I just liked the idea of having someone 5 minutes away rather than 3 hours. Plus, I love my Doc and was thankful that he was willing to do something like that for me.

    Anyone with IR or PCOS

Thank you all sooooooooo much for posting. It was really valuable to me. I to have PCOS and have tried to basically ignore it my whole life (diagnosed at 13) now I am 29 and ready to get banded. I was having to acknowledge that I really need to confront the issue that maybe this too would not help in my quest for healthy weight/lifestyle. I am encouraged and educated having read what you wrote. I haven't dealt with the PCOS due to no insurance most of my life. I think its such a crappy syndrome with a ton of emotional side affects. Years ago I lost almost a hundred pounds on my own (very challenging...many HUNGRY nights) it was at that point that I was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters two years apart. Since then I have been on the pill, just went off in July and haven't had a period. Anyway, now that I have blabbed on and on...We would love to have another baby (our girls are 10 and 8), and I know it won't happen until I get the weight off. Thank you for posting and letting me see that there are others in my same boat. Have a great day!

Trying to make an informed decision

Thanks so much for responding so quickly! As you can see from the hour I wrote my first post...its kind of been all consuming. I seem to have a hard time sleeping these days. Kathy, what about going to MX was different for you from in the US. A friend of mine had hers done there and said the only things that stood out was the language barrier between herself and the nurses and that the hospital (while extremely clean) was older. I would love to here more about your experience, and why you would choose to have it here if you were to do it again. If you are burned out on re-telling your story you could even direct me to other threads. Thank you for the welcome NJChick, and I hope to talk to you both soon!
