Should I cut my hair? (Hair Loss)
Neversaynever replied to AstroCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just watched a video on Youtube by someone who had thinning hair and she uses a product called Toppik. You can watch the whole thing but its interesting and relevant from about 4 minutes in. Heres the video, very inspiring - Googled it and I bought a 27.5g for £3.98 delivered. I am sure people from other countries will be able to find one on their own Ebay sites or maybe Amazon? -

Neversaynever posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, I was interested in how much I had lost month by month so I did a quick chart for myself. I am a slow loser compared to some but I am still very very happy at the weight I have lost so far. I would be very interested in how much otehrs have lost month by month here's mine so far Weight lost on preop - 19lbs 1 month after surgery - 22lbs 2 months after surgery - 9lbs 3 months after surgery - 8lbs 3.5 months after surgery - 5lbs 63 lbs lost so far and plenty more to lose! -
Bingeing with Bypass
Neversaynever replied to MissLindseyR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, I try to stay under 1200 but usually fall between 1000 to 1100 most days. My best advice that I use, is when I am eating at home, I put out what I can eat and no more. For instance I bulk make a lot of my meals. I like mince so I do a lot of chilli and I do a lot of meatballs with sauce, that kind of thing. I know I can only eat three meatballs so I split it into those quantities, any more and I am constantly trying to get rid of the water/foam in my mouth from overeating. Same with the chilli or anything else I bulk make like stews etc, I just portion it into what I can eat and no more, I can tell by sight now, how much to put into a tupperware for later. It works for me but its a lot harder when you are out in the real world and haven't brought something with you, hence me trying to eat a full sausage sandwich this morning when my stomach only fits a third! -
Bingeing with Bypass
Neversaynever replied to MissLindseyR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have done this too, today actually. I bought a sausage sandwich from the supermarket deli counter and could only eat a third of it. I was driving so after about half an hour, I ate another third and when I got home, I warmed it back up and ate the last third. I didn't feel good about it at all but reasoned it wasn't a massive thing as it was roughly 350 cals and it was all I had had up to that point (1pm). I did post about a very similar thing a while back, probably when I was just a month out myself. I feared that I could wreck the whole thing by constantly doing this. However, I do have my head screwed on most of the time and I haven't continued to do that. I agree with Orchids solution, if you want to eat more but know you shouldn't, trash it so you are unable to, that way you don't have to fight your willpower. -

The last supper! Food funerals anyone?
Neversaynever replied to shoregirl75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can manage it, do it. I thought I had taken plenty of before pics but, there are very few that show in a clear light, what I actually looked like. More so, I wish I had taken skin pics, as in a bra and pants type photo as I know I have changed so much but don't really have any unclothed pics to compare it with. The more you take, the more you have to compare with later on when you lose all the weight, its such a boost, honestly. -

Should I cut my hair? (Hair Loss)
Neversaynever replied to AstroCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have long hair as you might have seen in my previously posted pics. I love it and don't want to cut it but the hair loss is so annoying! Filling my brush and everytime I run my fingers through I come out with more strands -
I had Lanzaprosol for 1 month only but haven't had it since except two times in the 2nd month when I had a little bit of acid reflux. I haven't had acid reflux since then. So if it can happen years down the line, I'm not in the clear yet then!

Congratulations! -
I was offered all three options but chose the sleeve. They tried to push me to have the bypass but I wasn't having it! My daughter had the sleeve and was very successful with it. My son had the band and he had a lot of problems with it. The bypass scared me as it seemed such a big step and the malabsorption really worried me. I didn't even know about the dumping part of it until after I had the operation and started reading these forums but even so, it would probably have made me more inclined towards the bypass as a way of keeping control. Question though, I have never really had a problem with acid reflux, except maybe a couple of times since I had the sleeve operation. How long does it take to manifest if it is going to appear?

So I started at 304lbs ( 21' 10 ) for the uk'ers and blimey did I feel every pound! I have lost steadily and I am now 245lbs (17' 7!) so very chuffed, and cannot believe how much my life has changed. Here are a couple of before and afters, one at my heaviest and the other, two days ago for clarity. I can't really see a massive difference myself but others have told me they can definitely see it, can you?

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

Not with a 30 year old daughter, that would be a feat! -
I had dry mouth from surgery day up until a few weeks ago. It was very noticeable to me at the time but it just seems to have faded out and it has now stopped. I even went to the doctors about it as I was quite worried but they just told me to drink more and try to sleep with my mouth closed. I am a mouth breather unfortunately so I know it would have dropped open as soon as I went to sleep lol. But never fear, mine went away, hoping yours will too x

Not loose Weight pre op
Neversaynever replied to lili@ne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very very true for the UK Steve, I had to go through so many hoops to get my surgery. Its true that I had to fail at the first requirement, which was a 12 week course, of losing so many lbs, to enable me to go onto the next stage which also lasted 12 weeks and which was more intense. If I didn't lose 5% on the second 12 week course, I wouldn't have been able to go any further in the system and by default, my health and weight would have got worse. It took over 2 years for me to get the surgery but it was worth every single minute of waiting! I only managed it because my husband was diagnosed with Diabetes type 2. He put himself ( and by default, me) on a very strict low carb/low sugar diet which had the added bonus of me losing 14lbs just because there was no rubbish coming into the house for me to snack on. So I have my husbands Diabetes, to thank for my eventual surgery. He has lost almost 6 stone, roughly 85lbs, by willpower alone as he said he would not risk having limbs amputated for the sake of eating the wrong food. -
