Hello I'm a newbie here!!! I joined for the support...I had my endoscopy on 4/3/17 and was told I have a hiatal hernia and it can be repaired during my sleeve surgery. I'm so terrified that I'm thinking about cancelling everything. Can anyone give some helpful insight on what's going on or what to expect..... Help 😐

I had my sleeve March 21st. Also hernia repair. I felt awesome right after the surgery. Then when I got home the real struggle began. I have struggled with eating and my weight since I was a child. It was my crutch and my comfort. The surgery part I don't regret , until the need to eat hits me. And I can't do it without hurting myself. I truly did not think of that aspect before the surgery. Now that I am passed the full liquids and can eat soft foods it's better. I know so many people that have been very successful and inspire me. But now I realize that if I don't get a grip on it now. Years down the road I could gain it back. It's a major decision and no going back!! Good luck to you and I'm excited to hopefully not have to shop plus size ever again!!

Hi- I had my surgery 18 months ago. I too almost backed out. I had a huge hernia (size of a grapefruit!) that had to be repaired too. It is surgery so that has to be thoroughly thought about before doing it. But... I went in...counted 100, 99 and the next thing I knew I was in recovery. It hurt but in the scope of things this is such a short little blip in time. I have never had any trouble with my sleeve. I don't get an upset tummy, I did not have a change in the way food tastes, I don't get hickups...nothing. I think the real thing to know is that this is a tool- not a cure-all. If you continue to eat like you always have you will continue to be overweight. You need to do an entire mind-change.
