Can I change surgeons after approval?

Wow this is great news...thank you so much!
  2. Hi everyone. I've been having problems with the scheduling at my surgeon's office and am disconcerted by their behavior. In a previous post here, I mentioned that there was an oddly long wait to get a date. I waited the entire time frame (plus a few days) that the scheduler gave me for her to call, and she did not call. I contacted her today and she said I should expect a call in the next TWO weeks from today (well over a month from my approval). This is making me sick to my stomach as I am up against a deadline here to get the surgery. I mentioned this and it seemed to be brushed off. Backstory aside, is there any way to contact my insurance company and try to see if they'll switch my approval/pre-authorization to another hospital? Does anyone know if this has been done before? Thank you!
  3. It surprised me too! I had to be the first one to reach out to even know that I was on their radar and that left a bad taste in my mouth to begin with. Thanks for the advice!
  4. Thank you for confirming what I was thinking! No one I know personally has had the surgery so I didn't want to think this was strange and then have it be normal.
  5. Hi everyone! My insurance officially approved my VSG on 5/26. When I didn't hear anything from my surgeon's coordinator, I emailed her and asked when I should be expecting to discuss a date. She told me that she would contact me early next week (6/19) at the earliest. This was incredibly discouraging to me as I will start law school in mid-August and want a few days to recover before going (I'm 22 and don't expect and prolonged recovery). I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or if this is quite odd. Thank you!
