One week in and I am feeling pretty good. I have had my rough moments with the family eating some of my favorite foods but I know I can't eat it and if I could I would hate myself anyway after. This has been a somewhat emotional roller coaster but I am loving the ride. Shirts are fitting better than they have in ages and I am looking forward to next Monday for my 2 week post-op visit. Can't wait to see the progress I have made numbers wise. I know I feel it in my body. Full liquids can be rough but I can see puréed right around the corner and solids is next. Right now I am just craving Good healthy proteins. I want salmon and chicken so bad. Does anyone know how bad steak is on our new tummies? I am badly wanting a fillet mignon. Anyway I feel like I am rambling. I hope everyone is doing fantastic. This new life is a gift. HW - 537 Pre-Op - 506 SW - 499 CW - ??? Hey there guys. Had the surgery yesterday at about 8AM and according to my wife I was in a great amount of pain. By the time I slept a bit and woke up later in the afternoon I felt pretty good. Was up walking laps by 6PM. Felt better every hour and was discharged at 1PM today. I have the On-Q pump so that helps a bunch I think. Now just to follow the doctors orders and stick to my diet and beat this thing and use the "tool" for what it is. Thanks for all your well wishes. HW - 537 Pre-Op - 506 SW - 499 CW - ??? So far so good on rocking this thing. Happy early Birthday to both of us I guess. Yours for being born and mine for being born again and given a second chance. Just over a week away and I am just not sure how to feel anymore. -
I must say that I have been looking forward to this day with some trepidation. I know that moving forward all will be good but I think just knowing that I can't have "certain foods" makes me nervous of failure. I know I have come this far in this process to have a fear of failure stop me. Surgery scheduled for July 17th. So now the real countdown is on. Here's to getting healthier!!

Thanks Russ for those kind words. Congrats to you for breaking into the 200 club. I look forward to being there sometime. I look forward to the day of sitting in many seats comfortably...movies (to see Last Jedi of course), hockey games, broadway productions. Man, I hate the feeling of buying a ticket to event only to dread going as the date approaches because you hate the looks or feeling of just being to big for the seat. This goes with air travel as well, though I don't think I will really be comfortable in those tiny seats. I hope to have the success you have had. Almost one week in and it hasn't been quite as bad as I thought. Though I do miss a great many things. -

Thanks Nav, could you imagine trying to shave that walking carpet? A goal of mine is to build my own Wookiee suit when the weight comes off. So I have some goals and look forward to my new version of life after surgery. -
So here is me in a nutshell. I am 42 year old father to a beautiful 3 1/2 year old daughter and husband to the best wife a man can ask for. I have been heavy my whole life. Currently, I am about 6'4" and around 535lbs with a BMI of 65. Ever since I turned 40, I have been haunted with the thoughts of not being here for my daughter when she grows up. I like many other people have tried many different diets and exercise programs but never found myself being able to keep any significant amount of weight off. I did CrossFit for about a year, going about 2-3 days a week. I noticed a difference in the amount of weight I was moving but I was hard on my already stressed joints to keep up that pace. I have gone through most of the preliminary things that I need and have a surgery date set for 7/17/17. I am looking forward to using the "tool" that I will be given to help me live a long a happy life with my family and be here to walk my daughter down the aisle, hopefully many many many years down the road. I am very excited to get back to my CrossFit family and use that to propel me to another level. I look forward to all that life has to give and look forward to speaking with all of you!!
