BANDIT GIRL

My surgery date has been set for August 4th!!! I have my pre-op class on the 23 of July. I am really nervous now that it is real!! I cannot wait to start my journey of life after the band. I pray that all goes well. I think I am still in la la land and cannot believe this is actually gonna happen.

I got approved!!!!!!! I checked the optima website and it says I'm approved!!!! I am sooooo excited and happy that this is finally gonna happen! It took 2wks and 2 days to get an answer. I have a tentative daye as Aug 6th. I just need them to call me and give an official date!!! Thank you guys for all your support!!! I has been such a big help!!! :Banane11::Banane06::Banane03:

Thanks for the info! I guess I see what you mean about WW helping you get back on track because it really does force you to make better food choices to keep within your points. The band just makes you feel full so you don't feel like you are still hungry as I always do with any diet even WW. It does work but I find I end up sabbotaging myself in the end because of the hunger. Which I am sure is partlyhead hunger. Thanks for breaking it down for me! Do you have any before and after pics that you can share? And again....congrats on your success for losing and keeping it off!!! That is soooo awesome and VERY reasuring to us pre-bandsters and newly banded. And I do realize this isn't going to be easy nor a "sprint" but I do know it is gonna get me to a place I cannot get to on my own.

Hello Megan, my name is Della and I enjoyed your post! It is so great to hear success from a long time bandster. Congrats on your wonderful new life and success!! :scared2: I do have a question....how much does your band hold and how full is it? And shouldn't a fill be the answer instead of ww? That just kinda scares me to need other diet plans I have been on for some much of my life. I really thought that the fills were the answer along with healthy and sensible eating.

I am soooo amazed you have lost 70lbs since march with only one fill!!! That is awesome!!! What is your secret to success? congratulations!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::biggrin:

hello fightergirl, was just wondering what caused you to need a revision? was it your port?

i think they go by a persons bmi now and not weight. it used to be 100lbs over weight and i believe my dr said the national requirement is now bmi. so she may meet that requirement by her height and weight ratio.

yeah, i would be turned off as well. i've been to 3 seminars and all included the dr. the insurance person was there and a couple of people who have had the surgery were there for questions and to share their experience. that is weird. try another office and go to their seminar. i would also ask if their dr's attend befor you go.

so ya know what i say......don't go. don't do it if you feel like that. don't let him or anyone else judge you or make you feel like a fool ( you are NOT a fool) he is the fool!! you shouldn't let him drag you into something that only he should feel like a fool for doing. what ever you do , do it for you and what makes you feel good about yourself. and i read your earlier post about about being a surviver.......i am proud of you as a fellow woman who has suffered the same heartbreak for getting through it and becoming a survivor!! you can do it!!!

wow! i am glad to hear all is well now. if u don't mind me asking, what brand band did u have before and which one did you switch too? i haven't gotten mine yet but i know my dr. uses the lap band and now the realize band. good luck on your new one!!!:biggrin:

I know how you feel. My EX husband cheated on me too! I guess it's a trend. I was devestated and we didn't have kids, so I know how you must be feeling. I can tell you that i too had lost some weight due to being depressed and was looking good and he wanted me back also. I tried it but i guess he came to his senses too late cause I had already moved on emotionally and realized I didn't love him anymore. Of course him prancing his new much younger ( and I was young myself) girlfriend in my face at my job kinda helped me to fall out of love with him. The only real advise I can give is listen to your heart, it will tell you what to do. Trying to work it out with counseling is a big help and if it doesn't work out you will always know you given it your all. I commend you for your effort and wish you the very best in whatever you decide. And one last piece of advise....ONLY TIME CAN MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER AND HEAL YOUR BROKEN HEART. And if it doesn't work out......like they said above, his loss. You now have lost 106lbs!!!!! and that is wonderful!!!! Begin your new life with your kids and enjoy and embrace it. Maybe this was meant to be and you are destined to do something great with your life.

that is funny that we were all at the same meeting. yeah i c dr fontana is pretty popular.i haven't met any of the other dr's. but my friend is seeing dr boustany for gastric bypass and she really likes him. yes a year is a long time. i have done weight watchers since 05 untill jan of this year with minimal weight loss here and there and always gain it back because i am hungry. so i love the idea of the band making me feel full quicker so u don't feel like u r starving. i'm hoping that coupled with the last 3 months supervised will be enough. if not then i will only have 9 month left since i am done with the program.

that is great!!! i am a patient of him too! he is really nice and seemed very knowledgeable! he actually answered all my questions b4 i could even ask. the people r very nice and it has been a pretty smooth ride so far. good luck on your journey! keep us informed.:thumbup:

Hello Tia. I know how you feel. I called my insurance a few times on the very same subject and go a run around too. I was flabergasted(lol) that they couldn't answer my question. Afterall, aren't they the ones who are supposed to have the answers? Then when you submit the paper work they wanna reject you. I don't know what to tell you but keep trucking along and i wish you luck!

Hello Heather! I was at that seminar last night too! I went with a friend as support. Small world!Dr Fontana was the speaker because Dr Brooks wasn't there? Well anyway, congratulations on your decision.:rolleyes2: I know the labs and x rays are pretty standard but alot of the tests depend on your health and issues you may have. I had to to have an ultrasound of the liver/gall bladder,chest x ray,labs and ekg.I had to get him a copy of my latest mammo and pap smear. Yeah, I know abouth the insurance bear.I have optima for sentara employees and they require a 1 year Dr supervised weight loss attempt.That totally sucks. They just started paying for it this year.I am hoping for approval with them as well. Well good luck on your new journey and please feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

hello karen, u look great!! i only hope i look this good at 183!!! i'd be totally happy at that weight if it looks that great! i know exactly how you feel about being almost 300lbs. i'm there now and cannot wait to start this journey and get where you are.i wish you the best of luck and keep up the good work! have you had any issues or complications since being banded and are you happy you did it?

IF UDON'T MIND ME ASKING, WHAT TYPE OF PROBLEMS HAVE U HAD. I AM GOING THROUGH A PROGRAM FOR THE BAND NOW AND ALMOST DONE WITH EVERYTHING. I HAVE READ ALOT OF INFO ON COMPLICATIONS AS WELL AS SUCCESS AND JUST INTERESTED IN WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO U. THANK YOU.:biggrin:

hi nikki, u should just know u r doing this for u and ur health so u don't become an overweight adult. i kinda feel the same way about people wanting to be my friend after i lose the weight....like men at work who pay no attention now......i just figure i will only deal with people who seem genuine to me. u sound like u can tell the difference and will know who is real and who is not. hang in there and don't let them get u down! u r a special person and very brave to go through all this (especially surgery) just think positive and don't worry about them......just do u! have a great day!

thanks!! i was wondering if u have any pics .....we r the same height and the same weight as pre band for u. i'd like to get an idea of where i might be if i got down to ur weight...i do realize we may carry our weight different but think i would get the idea. :rolleyes2:
