Sleeve to Bypass REvision
Donna1017 replied to Alley1016's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Waaaayyyy slower! I have lost 20 pounds, and my surgery was on 2/28. I have a lot less to lose, and I also sprained my ankle so I have swelling and am more sedentary for the last two weeks. It's certainly not like the 1st time around! -
Not expected...roux n y

I'm 46, so not quite the same, but I did have a harder time with RNY. I'm 5 weeks now, and it is getting better. I had the sleeve 7 years ago, and bounced back with no problem. This time I was in the hospital 4 nights, had to have 2 blood transfusions and 8 bags of potassium. I don't have any regrets for either surgery. High blood pressure was resolved within a week! Hang in there. I think it's a little tricky to begin with, but hopefully once you and your body adjust it will be just fine. -
I tried watermelon, pickles, and artichoke at 3 weeks. I had a very tiny bit of salad the other night, and didn't have any problems. I also started with steamed veggies around 3.5 weeks. I had a tangerine the day also. I was afraid it might have too much sugar in it but it tasted so good, and went down fine.

I like the SF strawberry Fanta packets to put in bottle water. It is really sweet though. I bought some isopure, but that stuff was really hard to drink.

I get the reduced sugar Quaker Oats maple and brown sugar. Adding protein powder is a great idea. I have the flavorless powder, and don't use it often.

I'm there right now. My stall happened at about 2 1/2 weeks. I'm just over 5 weeks now. I gained 3 pounds before my stall happened so I was really doubly sad, but I just keep going. I do track with myfitnesspal. I have always done better when I track. Good luck-we'll break the stall soon!

I'm 5 weeks out, and right before I stalled I gained 3 pounds. This stall is 3 weeks now. I am hoping my body is ready to start losing again. I feel like it. I just keep doing what I need to do, and I track my food on myfitnesspal. I did cut out the 100 calorie no sugar added fudgesicle and went back to the 30 calorie popsicle. My doctor and nut were happy, but it is hard to not get the gratification of seeing the scale move. I think it is pretty normal to have a big weight loss after a stall.

I'm a sleeve revision to bypass. My surgeon and nut have both said that revisions lose slower. Cells remember the previous loss and hold onto the weight more. I'm 5 weeks and down 25, but I have been on a stall for 3 weeks. I was down 28, but gained back 3 pounds right before the stall happened. I started tracking with MyFitnessPal as I do much better when I track, and I keep following the rules. My doctor said don't worry about the scale right now...easy for him to say. I also started at a lower weight. The less you have to lose the slower it will happen.

I'm so glad that you are on your way to a happy ending! Wow, how scary for you and especially your family. Best wishes for your continued success! -
I take a High Potency Chewable with minerals that I get at Trader Joe's.

Gastric Sleeve Revision (Getting it done twice)
Donna1017 replied to samskiles's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a revision to RNY due to gerd on 2/28. When I had my barium swallow it looked like I had a gastric fundus that had grown at the top of my sleeve, but when the surgeon went in my sleeve was fully intact, with no fundus and minimal stretching. My insurance would not have covered a resleeve. My doctor would never perform a resleeve as he says it's too risky although I have read some promising research that it can be done safely and is a good means to restart weight loss. However, it wouldn't have fixed my problem of gastritis and reflux. I had my sleeve 7 years ago. Good luck to you! -
Heartburn Post-Op?
Donna1017 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely call your doctor, but I have it worse now that I have had RNY then I had it with the sleeve (gerd was the reason I was revised to RNY). My doc says sometimes it takes the body a little while to stop producing gastric juices. -
Possible switch to bypass because of GERD.
Donna1017 replied to shy1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve in 2010, and was revised to RNY on 2/28/17. I was having really bad gastritis and gerd; however since getting RNY I have had 2 episodes of waking up to full on vomiting even though I am still taking a PPI. My surgeon said it sometimes takes the body a little while to stop making gastric juices. My doctor expects me to lose about 40-50 pounds. They have (doc and nut) said weight loss will be slow, and I will probably have to work for it. I have lost 25 pounds so far. -
My nut said I could have pickles at 3 weeks out as long as I cut the skin off, got rid of the seeds, and chewed very carefully. I was craving pickles so badly.
