ARG! Food is evil today and restaurants stink!

Perhaps your anxiety is causing your body to react in this way. I know everyone is different etc. but there should at least be a handful of things you could choose to eat on a menu? Fish options? Vegetarian options? Sometimes I even order the cheese and biscuits which are a dessert option and I have mainly the cheese... If you're not so anxious you will find yourself relaxing and enjoying a meal more. When I had my band, I used to be terribly anxious and almost without fail, I'd walk in a restaurant, and even the first mouthful of soup would have me vomiting in the bathroom. Eating out can still be a very pleasurable experience. I'm off to meet a friend at an Italian restaurant this afternoon.. I'm having roasted monkfish and prawns on a bed of sweet potato mash. Yes I'll only probably manage half the portion or less and a mouthful of mash, but I'm still out enjoying myself.. It can be done

    An English Sleever's Journey

You know, to be honest, I just rested and took each day as it came. I was tired and pale from the lack of nutrition but I actually felt ok.. I wasn't missing food. All my dr was concerned with was me getting in as much fluid as I was able to... He just said sip and wait and sip and wait... And that's all I did.. I think at first I could only have 30ml every hour but each day I built up more and more. I can't say what makes someone more prone to loosing hair than not.. I did cook my food in coconut oil and mash avocado into my Philly (at first I could only eat a teaspoon).. So basically even on my limited intake I never went low fat, fat free etc. Even my Philly was full fat.. I mean I'm gonna make the most taste wise of the teaspoon I was able to eat.. Same with yoghurt.. Nice organic.. Rachel's or my favourite Tims dairy from waitrose or asda! I think this is one of the reasons I never lost hair. My skin has been beautiful too... Salmon has been my fav fish, and I had it in purée and soft foods.. Cooked in a knob of butter in the oven so it stated moist, soft and juicy! You will just find it all falls together.. My doggie was my trusty friend.. Loving all my left overs!! I've never pushed myself to see how much I can eat either. When I feel full I just stop.. Chicken fills me fast, I can eat a bigger quantity of fish and prawns before I'm full and I love my steak-can manage a few slices of that now.... I forgot I had sweet potato mash in my soft food stages and courgettes which I boiled in chicken stock until they all broke up and became mushy.. Now days I don't eat many carbs but I do have sweet potato/butternut and sakata rice crackers.

    An English Sleever's Journey

Well I had the band before... And life sucked majorly.. Practically spent my life vomiting!! It was a long NHS route but very worth the wait.. My only regret that it took so long!! My sleeve journey has been relatively easy, I'm not sure if that's because I was so ready for it? I don't know. I work out tons and I love it. I've always loved my exercise and even did I Triathlon before my op - I never let anything stop me!! It's just SO much easier now. It's very different post op to the USA dr's and what we have available here. To be honest post op, I couldn't tolerate ANYTHING!! No tea, no coffee, no Water, no Protein shakes, no Soup. All I had was very diluted Lipton peach ice tea... It was after about 9 days when I started soft purée foods. I had petit filous frommage frais, Philly cheese, scrambled egg and puréed my own chicken and fish. Had that for a week then moved onto proper food. The best thing I could stomach was prawns.. And how I love them still. My favourite food item. I've been very lucky as I've only in the last couple months introduced Protein Shakes.. I don't like them and prefer to get my protein from food. They taste awful and at times make me a little nauseous. I haven't stressed about my protein intake.. I just eat what I can and be done with that.. I think I get about 60-80g per day.. But not in the beginning! I have also not lost any hair or anything. Obviously I was rather large so I lather my body in bio tissue oil everyday.. I don't know if it makes a difference but my skin feels soft. I take perfection skin, nails and hair, my Multivitamin and an Iron tablet... But also only started those about 2 months post op!! Fitter food London is a brilliant website and I mainly use their recipes-which are free.. Portions adapted to suit me!! They're just basically high protein, clean foods!! http://fitterlondon.co.uk/fitter-food/ Recently I have begun to dabble in cooking with Protein powder and I get my stuff off the protein pow website.. I'm about to make low carb Peanut Butter protein Cookies... http://www.proteinpow.com/?m=1 Mostly just focus on your hydration and the rest will come!! Good luck

    Do therapists work?

100% correct, if you don't feel comfortable and don't feel like you are making strides - make a change!

    An English Sleever's Journey

Well that's just the right attitude to have!! Me too, this was my last chance. I've lost almost 8st in 7 months... Life has changed drastically!! I'm loving it. Where are you having your op? and who is your consultant?

    Do therapists work?

As a therapist, I think it definitely works.. Therapy is kinda like the sleeve.. A tool!! We can't, unfortunately, wave a magic wand and fix everything.. But if you're willing to put the work in, IMHO it's very effective. Sometimes like exercise, you have to find what therapy works for you, it's not a one 'size' fits all... But then we all know one size just NEVER fits all Good Luck!!
