An English Sleever's Journey

Oh yes, I've never rated lansoprazole, a few times I had my husbands before I got my prescription but they didn't seem as good as omeprazole. Unfortunately when I had my band removed I wanted to cry from the heartburn.. Absolutely anything I ate have me reflux.. Even tea sometimes. So I was put on 20mg omeprazole which helped straight away. Consultant doubled dose straight after surgery.. I suspect I will always be on these tabs!! But they keep the reflux at bay.. Not a nice thing to suffer with!! I'm ok today.. Thanks for asking.. Not much is new in my world.. Felt like a bowl of veggies tonight so that's all I had.. But it curbed the craving!! And I had some delicious meatballs at lunch, but I know you don't wanna hear about food.... So I had an awesome workout at the gym and then sat in the sauna sweating out all these toxins for half an hour.. I'm off to Turkey on Friday so I'm super excited.. I'll be baking my Peanut Butter Cookies on Thursday and will let you know how they turn out.. 2g of carb and no sugar gotta get into the 19st category, appointment at Kings on Friday (I'm 3lbs away) so I'm sure I will. Now I'm watching crappy TV.. Dreaming of sea and sun x -

Have those hiccups gone? Did your dr prescribe you omeprazole or something similar?. I was started and still am on 40mg per day. If I forget to take mine I know all about it. Sitting up for an hour after eating anything sometimes helps a little too. I don't suffer at all when I remember to take them. -

That's it!! Glad you're feeling more positive today. It really is easy to get sucked into this whole guilt, am I doing everything right, oh my goodness I ate a chip sort of world pre op. While your pre op diet is important for many reasons its not worth beating yourself up about! Good on you for the weightloss! I have a good week ahead thanks for asking.. I finish work on Thursday, seeing my sister Thursday afternoon and off to Turkey for two weeks on Friday with my hubby and 8 friends!! Most importantly I hope by Friday (I have 3lbs to go) that I will be leaving my 20st behind and entering the 19st!! So I'm super excited (I only weigh once a week or once every two weeks.. I will be weighed on Friday cause I've got my check up at Kings College)!! Then it will be sushi pre flight So it's gonna be a good week of food.. Trying out a new recipe on Thursday - low carb, high protein peanut butter cookies.. I shall take these on the plane for a healthy snack!! Off to the gym this afternoon.. Head is in a good place this week!! -
I'll double check. Many thanks.

Marywithsound, don't beat yourself up about stuff pre op Hun. You will have so much time to think about all the stuff post op. I was very lucky and even though I was 28st, my dr didn't require a pre op. The pre op is to get your mind into a change of gear before the surgery.. After surgery everything is going to shift again. Just take one day at a time knowing in a couple weeks or so, you will be starting your journey. I agree, grazing is not a good habit.. But after the sleeve you're not even going to feel hungry at first! It's going to be a chore to eat and drink. So my advice is enjoy whatever you plan each day leading up to your surgery. 900 calories is a tiny amount!! You're still on track. Even though I can only eat small amounts of food, I love my food! Love cooking, love tasting, love creating. That's what you want.. Change that relationship so there is none of this guilt factor. It's a new week, Monday. Get your head in the right place, focus on that goal and go for it!! Hope this bit of encouragement helps you. -
My dr used different sites. Band fitted 2008, removed 2012 through port incision. Sleeved 13 months later. Two different dr's did the procedure.

That was an ambitious walk.. Way better than I did!! Don't think I ventured out the house till I was about 10 data post op.. And that was to go to boots so I could stand upon the trusty scale and weigh myself for the first time!! Don't freak out Hun... It's waaaaayyyy to early!! I can eat everything... It just takes a little time.. Tonight I had prawn sautéed with 3 cherry tomatoes, half an avocado, a few olives stuffed with anchovies and... Wait for it... Balsamic vinegar glaze!! It all takes time little by little. I can eat salads, I love a juicy steak (I'm South African and a real carnivore.. Been here for 10 years but not got rid of that!!) I got a bit sick on scrambled eggs but now I eat soft boiled or poached... Bacon can be difficult (just read the bacon thread) but I can still eat it.. One rasher tops!! I haven't tried bread but I couldn't eat it with my band so weaned off that a long time ago!! I drink a coffee a day.. Lost the taste for tea!! Chicken breast is difficult (especially if overcooked and dry) but I've always been a thigh girl anyway.. I take the skin off sausages (feed it to dog!) this month I've been able to tolerate grapes again.. When the time comes, just try a bite or two.. See how you feel.. If it makes you unwell, leave it for a couple weeks or so and try again. The only things I absolutely can't tolerate anymore deep fried oily stuff, soya milk, cream (sometimes) ice cream makes me a little nauseous...can't think of anything else at the mo!! -
I think I have the same, except here it's spelt tabbouleh.. Pretty sure it's the same?? Or maybe not! I used to cook mine in chicken stock.. Then add cucumber, mint, tomatoes and avocado. It was delicious with a piece of grilled salmon or some halloumi cheese. It always used to fill me up. I haven't since been sleeved though. Your lunch looks great forgot to say feta and olives stuffed with anchovies were also a nice addition

It was at least 14 days post op.. It was weird, day after day it hurt and then one day, I was like... Ooohhh the pain has gone.. So count at least 14 days before the celebrations begin and that X goes in the diary. I used to walk around holding my tummy to lessen the pain. Hopefully hiccup will go shortly too... You seem so amazingly upbeat and positive-all I wanted to do was sleep zzzzzzz -

Goodness you've made me giggle!! I should've explained a little more... Bruising was due to heparin injections I had to give myself twice a day for 6 weeks.. I was high risk DVT so that was for that!! Ja, drugs were my trusty mates, and I had pain.. But just one day woke up and it was gone!! It's that internal stitch that pulls.. That's the b***h!! So like I say - my good advice is to chillax!! I think day 3/4 were my absolute worse!! -

Take your pain killers if you have.. I was like a zombie for nearly two weeks.. I had so much pain heaving my large body around that I couldn't say for sure if I experienced back pain!! That gas is not a great feeling, I felt it mostly near my shoulders, but it could be transferred to your back.. Also watch kidneys hope you feel better, don't let the pain get you down!! Rest, relax, recouperate -

I've checked on Netflix.. Didn't think it would be on there because Greys Anatomy wasn't even on there. So I've taken the plunge and ordered from amazon.. Season 5 is not yet available here which I think is what you are on currently. I don't mind paying for tv shows... UK telly is not fantastic, and growing up in South Africa, we lived on US stuff!! I miss it... So I'm looking forward to my package arriving
