what is so bad about regular cheese?
sanks51 replied to penman53's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I only eat organic cheese... Mostly goats cheese. I stick to 20-30g per serving -
Wine is a little acidic and may cause reflux/heartburn ...

Everyone has different guidelines. Two days post op was my birthday and I was still in hospital.. My dr said I should have a little 'tipple' to celebrate.. I just stuck to water but you'll hear a lot of varying answers. I'm 7 months post op and enjoy occasionally.

Is there anyone who DIDN'T lose their hair?

I haven't lost any of my hair. I think I mostly attribute this to the fact that when I was cleared to start purée and soft foods 2 weeks post op, I ate clean, wholesome food. I never ate fat free/low fat or sugar free. I would cook my own grass fed meat and have it with avocados or when I cooked eggs I made sure to use a bit of coconut oil or butter. When I puréed butternut squash, I roasted it in a tsp coconut oil first. In my first two weeks post op I couldn't tolerate a stitch of protein and all I had was very diluted lipton ice tea. That was all I couldn't tolerate. I only started biotin after 8 weeks post op. Everyone is so different but I have been lucky. I'm now 7 months post op and still not a stitch of hair loss. I have also highlighted my hair twice since surgery with no problem. I use loreal professional shampoo so nothing special in that either!! Don't sweat the small things and it will all turn out ok. -
All contraception affects people in different ways. The pill is widely know for DVT risk etc which is why most dr's have their patients stop it prior to surgery. I'm 33 and wasn't required to stop my depo shot. I think there are side effects to every form of contraception and obviously people who are on one form will advocate for that. For me personally, I hate the pill, I didn't actually want periods, and I wanted no foreign object implanted in me.. Which left be the option of condoms or the shot. Condoms are just not reliable for me. I have happily been on the shot for 17 years. I have lost 111lbs in 7 months so it has not affected my weightloss, I don't worry about falling pregnant (which I absolutely don't want), I don't have to remember to take it everyday and I don't have anything implanted.. So for me its perfect. I said earlier that I was fat when I started the depo so how can I blame my weight gain on the shot? I just ate too much food. I take calcium supplements - well it's a small price to pay for my peace of mind! Each and every person will tell you why their contraception is the best choice. I think it's up to the individual to decide what fits well into their lifestyle. Good Luck in finding something that works well for you.

I'm a hard stick for drawing blood. Does this change?
sanks51 replied to MNMema's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm a phlebotomist... Eat, sleep and dream veins... Nice big juicy veins... It is harder to find veins on larger people but not always actually.. Skinny people also have pesky veins too My hidden vein is so much juicer to feel since I've lost weight but its still hidden.. My other vein has always been prominent and is just much more prominent now. Butterfly needles get a flush back so you know when you're in the vein in tricky bleeders.. That's why if you're difficult to bleed those are choice... Enjoy the changes to come I can't stop prodding and poking my veins!! -

Fiddleman, another awesome workout waiting for you this evening. I reckon no supplements, or caffeine.. Tonight do the workout as you would and then you can have a benchmark for the next time you do it. If you try the supplements today, you won't know your own potential and won't have a true measure on whether the supplements actually enhanced your performance!

I'm also in the UK.. I use myprotein whey protein powder unflavoured £13.99 for a kg and add the PB2 powders to flavour.. Chocolate one is delicious but sometimes, rarely, makes me a little nauseous. The other that is good is cellucor.. I have the vanilla and cinnamon swirl which I use for baking. These are the only ones I could tolerate.. And I'm still not completely a fan of drinking the protein powder, so that's why I'm now eating it!!

You make me laugh!! One step in the right direction I suppose!!

Awesome job!!

I've been on the depo for 17 years. I was fat before I started it so can't blame it on My weight gain.. I just ate too much!! Don't have a period and I don't fancy any children, so for me it's the safest contraception. I'm yet to meet someone who has fallen pregnant on the depo. Don't have mood swings, tender breasts or anything else. I take extra calcium tablets.
