  3. I would just advise you to get as much rest as possible. I had to go back to work two weeks after my op and wished I had more time!! I used to do my morning shift, come home and sleep for a couple of hours before going back out for the late shift. Between week 5 and 7 I started to feel a bit better. I also had a Vit B shot and I think that helped a lot.

    That looks like an amazing tool.. Currently I only have the julienne slicer to make small little strips... But long ones.. That's just great!! Hope our amazon UK has one of those!!

    CHIA Seeds

    Hi Everyone Was wondering if anybody has experience with Chia Seeds? Do you use milled or whole? How do you use them? Have they had a positive impact towards your nutrition macros? I was reading a bit of research on them earlier and think nutrition wise they seem to have lots of benefits. Just not sure how to incorporate them.. The recipe I saw and that was very non specific said chia seeds soaked overnight, coconut cream, and a sprinkle of cocoa nibs. To top it there was a juicy raspberry on top. Looked delicious, and right up my street! I'm cleared to eat seeds etc so there are no issues there. Many thanks for your input in advance -

    CHIA Seeds

    Thanks for the ideas Marcy, I wasn't too sure how to use them. I'm not sure I would be a fan of gloopy chia seeds.. I've got a small bag so I'll try them in my yoghurt this morning. I don't do many liquid things like soups and smoothies.. Think I was put off for life in my post op liquid phase

    Starting a workout program

    I started at the gym after my first consult with dr which was 7 weeks post op. I do a Kettlebell class twice a week and strength training with a PT two/three times a week. On a Saturday I do a circuit class which is circuits/kettle bells and Abs!! Love my gym. At first I just listened to my body, but was lucky and never felt any kind of pain.

    Breakfast Ideas Post Op

    I don't always eat 'breakfast' things at breakfast. Sometimes I have slice of ham or ox tongue with celery and a spoon of tzatziki. Sometimes I have ground pork/turkey (mince) with mushrooms, peppers and a few slices of zucchini. Sometimes I have a small bowl of prawns cooked in a teaspoon of coconut oil! Sometimes I have mackerel. Like Lynda said, we don't necessarily have to stick to eggs, yoghurt etc for breakfast which is great if your feeling creative in the mornings

    Soft food question

    Spinach is very soft when cooked. I eat it raw too instead of lettuce! I can't see why you wouldn't be able to eat it, taking into account your portions etc and whatever nutrition plan you were given to follow.

    Crabmeat?

    I had crabmeat in my puréed and soft food stages. At first when I tried it, it tasted very rich and did not agree with me. It was a great type of different protein.

  18. Zenandnow, great advice!! Weightloss is absolutely not all about cardio, cardio, cardio. I have done no scheduled cardio workouts (treadmill, cross trainer, etc.) and I have lost my 104lbs (in 7 months) purely from strength training. It's so much more difficult to recover you muscle mass afterwards. If you are able to I would absolutely incorporate weights/strength training into your workout. Muscle is much more efficient at burning calories. If you look at Fiddleman's posts in the fitness section he also talks about his experiences with cardio in the beginning vs his weight/strength training. No good personal trainer will have you injuring yourself. They will be coaching you and your form! I'm only half way through my journey and for my weightloss my skin still looks pretty OK. I attribute this to my weight/strength training and functional workouts!! There is life beyond pounding the treadmill for hours! Just find the balance that works for you.. Obviously if you want to be a runner.. Then you will do more cardio
