Don't lose too much - aaaargh!

I think, and this is definitely true for me, people have got so used to me being very fat for many many years. So when the weight starts to come off they have an altered perception of the new you and how you look. They can't process it in their heads!! I have had a number of people tell me I must be close to goal etc... I'm only halfway!! I still have another odd 100lbs to loose! Maybe to them they can't visualise me at a healthy weight because they have nothing to measure it against. So me been a thinner fat person is better than the fat person!!Perceptions are funny things!! All I can say is watch this space, as I'm not taking advice from anyone as to how much I should weigh.

    Decision Confirmed!

Various wake up calls for me... Not fitting in the bath, I couldn't fly because I felt like I didn't fit in my seat properly so I haven't been on holiday for three years, just looking at myself made me sick, always wearing pants to weddings and functions because a dress looked silly on me, and physically I really wanted to do what other people were doing.. Running etc!! I had to wait 13 months to have my sleeve once I had my band removed!! It was a long wait!!

    Open sleevers?

Yes I've been completely open with everyone. Most of my friends and work colleagues watched my tortured band journey from 2008-2012. Everybody supported me post op when I returned to work and was as white as a ghost and barely made it through the day!!! And they still continue to support me and compliment my weightloss. There are a choice few who remain quiet but it doesn't bother me. I made this decision for myself and I have a long journey ahead. I would prefer the support, besides I found this surgery liberating so I want that freedom throughout my life to continue
  6. That is very exciting news!! Not long now

    animal protein intolerance?

Yes like I said, definitely don't recommend drinking the pea protein but cooking with it is good...if you go onto the website called protein pow(Der) there are a few low carb, high protein recipes.. One is for crepes, they are made with egg whites, pea protein powder and whatever form of milk. We get dairy free coconut milk in the carton here in UK, it's very nice!! Hope you find something that works for you!!

    animal protein intolerance?

I am a true carnivore, but from time time I use other forms of protein powders.. You can try pea protein (not great to drink) hemp protein, egg... And a few more I can't think of off the top of my head. It might be the milk you are mixing it with too.. I went dairy free etc only to discover it was the soya causing the cramps and runny tummy!! Good Luck!!

I have now lost half my starting weight - wow

Wow! You sure are breaking barriers!! Awesome.
  10. Soft foods could be like cottage cheese, greek yoghurt, you could blend chicken, tuna etc to make it more like a puree (add a bit of greek yoghurt). Any fish lightly steamed or poached could be mashed up until it was soft, scrambled eggs or a poached egg mashed up with a fork. You could make soup with protein sources, and you can try protein shakes to top up your protein requirements.

    Does anyone watch Breaking Bad?

Sounds a bit like something I would enjoy...I'll see if I can find the series on SKY TV

    nuts

I eat nuts... Mostly ground almonds to cook as a 'flour' substitute and then my second favourite, which is macadamia nuts. I only have them occasionally and about 5 or so. I find they really satisfy my hunger and I know I'm fuelling my body with healthy fat too
  13. Glad the surgery went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery, and do keep us posted on your progress.
  14. Oh my word... that sounds like food heaven!! Thank you for sharing

    Afraid to Weigh..

    Love your approach!! Its refreshing

    Afraid to Weigh..

I was 10 days post op before I weighed, and what a wonderful surprise! For me the sleeve was my chance to start my eating lifestyle over..no obsessions, just liberations. I mostly weigh weekly or once every two weeks. I have yet too see a stall and have consistently been less each time I have stepped on the scale. This works at the moment for me

    Recovery question redux

    So how was it?

    Recovery question redux

Yes, I don't think a 'bit' of cardio will do you harm. I also think you really want to go, so I guess don't end up regretting it.... But be strict on Sunday and completely rest and recover!! Have one of shakes after, I'm sure you've planned that too

    Recovery question redux

Yes I think go for it ... When will your next rest day be?
  20. That's fantastic!! Well done, amazing achievement!!

    Recovery question redux

Wow Fiddleman, that sure is some workout. I think your plan for rest days and recovery is better than 6 days in a row. I don't have anywhere near the stamina or fitness you are at, but I have competed in two events which were a 100mile cycle and a triathlon. At the time I was weighing close to 300lbs. In both I did not feel any difference when I had an energy shot or even ate anything. I think I was just pushing towards exhaustion. On the 100 mile cycle on the last 20miles I had a bar with like coconut oil, dates, protein powder, macadamia nuts but I cannot 100% say that helped me to finish my race any stronger than I would've without it... Although my finish was solid. My triathlon less so but I am weaker at running than the other two disciplines so no amount of sustenance would have made me any faster. Sorry I know this is not much help in response to your question.

whats the deal with sugar free post op?

My surgeon didn't advocate sugar free anything either. To be honest I'm not a fan of artificially sweetened foods - just the thought of sugar free jello/pudding is making me a little queasy!! I much prefer the taste of real food. I haven't really craved anything sweet, and if I do, I sprinkle a teaspoon of raw cacao nibs on my yoghurt or whatever or a square of 90% dark. I now prefer that bitterness as opposed to the sweetness like before. The aftertaste of anything 'artificial' makes me nauseous. Everybody seems to have different guidelines, I think you will find what works for you pretty quickly though.

Did you keep a "before" outfit?

I just can't seem to get rid of my big clothes.. I have packed them up in a bag and asked my husband to put them up in the loft. Physically dropping them off somewhere.. No I haven't been able to let go yet. Maybe it's partly because the last time I lost weight I got rid of them all, then when I gained the weight back, I had to buy all new big sizes.. Even bigger than before.. Maybe it's in my subconscious. I shall work more on that when I have my hypnotherapy. Letting go...

Post op antacids/ acid reflux reducer?

Everyone's dr/hospital seems to follow different tablet protocol. My painkillers I was given in hospital were two whole tablets. I broke them in half and swallowed them fine. That was two days post op. I've never had chewable tablets or liquid..
