    Doctor vs nutritionist

I am beyond frustrated to say the least. Every appointment I go to I hear different information. My doctor told me to stay under 20 g of carbs a day where as my nutritionist says under 50. My doctor says I can substitute meals with protein shakes and my nutritionist says cut back on the protein shakes and eat more meals. I am at a loss and I am not losing! I am having about 100 grams of protein a day and 600-700 calories 6 weeks post op. The most I can get in is 3 ounces at a time. The nutritionist told me today to eat five meals and get up to 1000 cal does this seem right, once again different then the surgeon. What are you guys doing at this stage???
  2. Hi all! I am 13 months post op and 8 weeks pregnant. I am really struggling dealing with the food cravings and being hungry all the time! I am still king mostly healthy choices but if I don’t eat like every two hours I feel sick. I have gained a few pounds already and was hoping for some diet help. I can’t eat cold meats or deli meats which made up most of my diet before. Does anyone have a diet plan they follow during pregnancy? I understand I will gain weight but I want it to be a healthy weight gain. Thanks!
  3. I am so confused thinking about the next stage. I get things have to be soft but my team says protein first then vegetables. How is everyone making recipes and doing the protein first? I am really interested in everyone's go to or favorite stage 3 foods. Thanks so much!

Diet plan help! 8 weeks pregnant

I have spoken with my surgeon and my nutrionist and to be honest they haven’t been that helpful. Really they said to switch the focus of Bariatric dieting to healthy pregnancy. I am really hoping to find a meal plan other pregnant woman have used that wasn’t successful. I’m hood at sticking to plans but when left to my own I can make fluctuate.
  5. I never thought I could or would be as successful as everyone I saw on this forum. The first few weeks post op I looked at people posting 100 pound weight-loss thinking if only that could be me! I have to say that it happens so slow and yet so fast! I am one of those people that loses weight every few weeks! 2-3 weeks with our losing weight then a 10 pound weight-loss, it’s so crazy! The biggest thing I take out of this is a new relationship with food that I hope to keep for a lifetime! So excited to see what the next year holds! Good luck to everyone on this journey. I don’t regret it for a second (except not doing it sooner!)

I never thought it would be me

I don’t know! I haven’t lost any weight in 3 weeks that’s why I did this post, to remind myself! This is getting harder, I just want to get the next 40 pounds off. But I know it will take time. Are you stalling at all?
  8. HI all, I am approaching the 6 month mark and have been in a 3 week stall. I am wondering if I am eating what I should be. I average about 800 calories a day and I am not sure if I am eating too much. Average Day: Breakfast: 3 oz greek yogurt Snack: reduce fat cheese stick 1 or 2 Lunch: Turkey and reduce fat cheese roll up (4 oz) Dinner: Ground turkey meat (4 oz) Snack/ meal: spinach and cheese (3- 4 oz) Just looking for some direction or what other people at this stage are doing?
  9. HI everyone! I am looking for some advice about getting support from my husband. I am almost 6 months post op and down 82 pounds. This has been an amazing journey so far and I don't regret it for a second. I am starting to struggle and looking for advice on what others have done. My husband is very supportive of me getting the surgery and will help me make my food but when it comes to his eating we have a big problem. I have asked him more times then I can count not to bring the bad food in the house and to make a change for his health and he just doesn't see a problem. I understand that we started our relationship having this type of culture but I am just not there anymore. I want to be healthy and I want my son to be healthy and unfortunately he is feeding our son the same garbage he eats. I understand I can't make him change but I want to be successful, I am motivated. I just wish my house wasn't filled with all of the junk food/ fast food because it gets a little harder each day. Has anyone else had similar struggles? What should I do?

    Spouse struggles, Supportive or not?

I completely understand what you are saying on one hand. When I didn't want to eat healthy I hated people telling me what to do. On the other hand, would you keep bottles of alcohol around an alcoholic? It's a thin line. I'm just wondering how other people handle it. I'm in therapy working on my relationship with food and I am just afraid that my son is developing the same habits he has. I want him to be healthy too but I know it's up to him. He eats candy and all that crap and it doesn't even effect me. I just wish he would avoid a few of my triggers or favorites. It's just hard.
  11. I was wondering what people saw for the first month/second month weight loss. I see a lot of amazing stories after 8 month, a year etc. it is very hard to be at the beginning of this journey. I am working so hard and following the diet but I am still large. I would really like to here what some people saw and how they got through the slow points. Thanks!
  12. I got the a wifi scale, YUNMAI and it does all the averages for you and gives you a lot of good information.
  13. Yes I stalked for two weeks then dropped 10 pounds. I stall like every two weeks and then lose 5+ pounds. I have most recently stopped weighing every day and focusing on the scale, I am learning that it comes off in no particular way!
  14. Hi all. I am 10 weeks post op and am really trying to work hard at dealing with my issues that brought me here. I would love to hear some stories about how people are dealing with their desires to eat? I am in counseling and I am understanding the causes of my over eating but I am scared that I am not making life long changes. I have followed everything and I plan to continue to do so for a long time. I am trying exercise for stress but I have a great deal of stress and food had always been the answer. I miss eating in volumes and I'm not sure what to do about that? I don't want this just to be another vicious cycle where I slowly slip back. I want to know what else I should be doing to deal with my issues and setting myself up for long term success. Any advice would be welcomed! Thank you for reading
  15. Hi all! I am 3 months post op as of yesterday and down 50 pounds woohoo. My biggest struggle right now is getting in the vitamins. I will admit I take them infrequently. The chewable made me sick to my stomach. My doctor advanced me to a pill but it tastes so terrible. I take Bariatric advantage. Does anyone have a multivitamin recommendation and a calcium? I really want to find something, preferably a one a day.

How to deal with food addiction??

Thank you for your response. It is so hard, I miss the volume and food is what I looked forward too. I was in an abusive marriage a few years back and coparenting with my ex is a huge source of stress for me. Counseling works a lot on dealing with that. My counselor has helped me recognize a lot of the why's but I haven't got to the what to do about it. I would love to find a group or activity but don't really know where to start. My weight has always held me back from being social like that. If you are looking to discover the "whys" behind your eating I really suggest counseling it's amazing what you can discover through just talking. I just never realized how much of my joy came from food.
  17. Man let me just say this is has been a roller coaster of emotions. I have gone weeks without losing weight and the stalls can get you really down. I finally compared side by side and I'm starting to see the difference. Can't wait to see what the next year holds! Hw:306 Sw: 300 3/29 Cw: 257 Left was day of surgery

    Doctor vs nutritionist

Thank you everyone. This is very helpful. It's good to hear that what I am doing aligns with what everyone else has done. :-)

    Premier Nutrition

I just found out today that my insurance doesn't cover it, I'm sad. I would have loved to have them covered!
  20. Don't do it!!! Avoid carbonation at all costs, it stretches your pouch. You went through all this, don't let soda derail you. It's more than just a soda it effects how much you eat too!

    Sleeve and PCOS

Me too! Doctor said I have to wait 18 months to start trying, 1 month down 17 more to go!
  22. I waited 5 weeks and only because my job was pressuring me, I would have taken the extra week as my doctor recommended 6. The first 4 weeks were hard and the fatigue got the best of me. You need some time to get used to your diet. Take as much time as you can afford.
  23. My doctor is doctor Chen at Banner Weight loss. Any doctor in the practice can do. They are fabulous!
  24. My surgeon in az said that they take out so many from Mexico, so I know they do it here.
  25. I am fed bcbs and my requirement was 3 month supervised weight loss. I was sleeved 3/29. I love bcbs mine was fully covered!
