    Good idea or naw?

I'm in the same situation, and I had my op March 27. There's not a lot of point to going liquids so early because consumption just feels so different after surgery, but you CAN help your future self adjust a lot by upping your exercise if you can.

    40 pounds down

That's a huge change! Congratulations, and good luck with the rest!
  3. NSV! Four inches off my waist since pre-op! I HAVE a waist again!

That is awesome! I haven't measured myself but I'm thinking I should. I start pre-op diet in a little over a week!

      Keep up the great work!

  4. Scum of the earth or not, past poor decisions or not, and regardless of her timeline, you're on a forum for people who had the same surgery, probably countless of whom many of your barbs at Mama June apply to. We're here primarily to be supportive of each other's journey. Now, feeling she's the scum of the earth is your right. But framing it in terms of her looks and the success or not of her surgery is shallow and ultimately harmful to others' success in this environment. That is my point. P.S. We all "*****" ourselves out for money. It's called having a job. If her job is in entertainment, so be it.

All I can do is sleep

So totally normal. You just had major surgery, and that will take enormous energy to heal from. I'm almost 2 weeks out and my energy is just starting to come back. Spurts of activity still wear me out, too. Focus on hydration and healing. That's what my dr said, and it's been good advice.

Smart Ones for Soft Food Stage

It's going to vary from Dr to Dr. Mine said no meats unless I've put them through a blender for soft foods stage. Having had Smart Ones, I'd advise against. The meat is pretty tough. Google Eggface for lots of things you can eat. She's a great resource. If you're in a situation where you can't cook for yourself (it happens), it seems that canned chicken, canned tuna, and canned corned beef hash are the more common choices at that stage (especially turned into a "salad" version with yogurt or mayo, etc.)

    Scared to Eat

Tiny, tiny bites. Acid is going to vary from person to person. I've been eating spicy foods and acidic things since my Dr. okayed me for full soft foods 10 days out. No problem. But if you've had acid issues, it might not be the best choice. Always smartest to contact your Dr or his team if you're worried.
  8. This is absolutely the last place I would have expected to see people being body-critical of someone else, reality star or otherwise. I Think how you'd feel with comments about the things you can't change. "Legs like tree trunks" "inflated" fat feet, "just like Carnie Wilson." Everyone has a different body type, heck, my own legs have never been and will never be anything but "sturdy, like big oak," (thanks for the judgey comment about big legs in this thread I really appreciated it. Made my day.) It's also essential to point out that the woman has had (imo) far too much surgery in too brief a time, because it is her JOB. And before the 11 months you are on TV, she spent a year or two on her own dropping significant weight pre-surgery She's still swollen from all of that surgery and won't see the final results for a while yet. Also, lymphatic problems don't necessarily clear up after surgery. Sometimes they get worse. I didn't follow the family through the Honey Boo Boo stage, but What I saw in this show was a woman struggling to do something DAMN hard and succeeding. Im personally disappointed in a lot of people here today.

    When does this get easier?

I'm five days out today, and I can confirm water and walking do wonders. Ive also found the pain is less if I remind myself to relax through any kind of hiccup or belch (swallowing too). I've nicely banned my family from bringing any stress to me until I'm healed a bit more, too. When im just feeling sore and uncomfortable around the incisions, I've found relaxing with a heating pad over my stomach really helps. (I used ice the first few days). Itll get a lot better once we're more healed up.

    Coffee?

I'll chime in with another recommendation for decaf. My surgeon said coffee/tea are something I could have right away, but he recommended staying away from caffeine because it tends to dehydrate, and that's the last thing we need after bariatric surgery.

    Getting sleeved on 3/27

Like everyone else, I had heparin shots in the hospital along with many bags of antibiotics. We were surprised that none has to be sent home with us. My dr has his own rules for each stage. He calls this one "food that goes easily through a straw". So I've been able to have a bit of strained creamed corn soup, miso, etc along with juice/water mix, G2, and premier protein shakes. And hopefully not TMI for this forum, but I've been passing gas since my discharge. At this point, only the dogs really notice. My big bugaboo is turning over in bed at night. Oh my god, OW. That really pulls my bigger incision (next to the belly button). I didn't even manage it last night.

    Getting sleeved on 3/27

No BM yet here but considering my diet for the past 8 days, that's not surprising. The best thing I've found for that tight feeling is to deliberately relax. The more relaxed I am, the easier it is to get my needed liquids. Protein? Eh, I'm working my way up on it. 35g today. It would be easier if I didn't have to "savor" the shakes. good luck with the Unjury. I have some unflavored and my only complaint is how long you have to stir to get rid of all the clumps or how foamy it gets when you use a blender. Foamy protein is not a favorite texture.
  13. I'm doing great after surgery with getting liquids and meds down, but every time I get stressed, wicked heartburn. Ommmmmm

  14. That made such a difference for me, focusing not just on why I'm doing this (we'll be adopting soon, and I want to be there for our kiddos and wife) but also making sure I focus on the positive stories there are are a lot of bloggers out there with negative or cynical styles and that was making me more depressed and anxious. I didn't want to have surgery only to become joyless. Now I'm convinced a lot of it is attitudinal and reminding myself that has also been helping because I want to get better as quickly as I can and get back to doing the things I love to do.

    Getting sleeved on 3/27

My day was 3/27, too. How'd yours go? Like you, my doctor recommended super hydration before surgery, and I'm so glad. I had a near miss with needing IV top up at the ER but drinking is getting easier so it looks like I dodged that one. Just.
  16. My Surgeon explained that gummy vitamins have a higher risk of getting stuck when you're healing, and that's the last thing you want. Other than that, get the right amounts, and you're in good shape. Both the nutritionist and the Dr. agreed that the only true advantage of the bariatric vitamins is convenience.
  17. Three days post-op with a near miss on dehydration.  The first day or two out of the hospital were the worst for keeping liquids down. But I seem to be healing quickly now. Just waiting for post-op swelling to go away. Ugh.

    What to tell people?

You don't have to go into details with anyone. If someone notices, you can just say "thank you" or even add that you're working closely with your doctors to improve your health. Share only as much as you're comfortable with and don't stress too much.

    A little worried

My surgeon is adamant that the most important thing you can do for a good outcome is to choose an experienced VSG surgeon and follow his or her instructions to the letter. My my surgery went well with relatively little pain, so there might be something to it.
