    Torn to make a decision

I agree with everyone responses thus far. You must take control of your destiny. It's ok to talk to and confine in others of what you're going through. But optimally, the decision is yours. You have to live with whatever decision you make. I have respect that you have taken the first step to identify that you have work to do. You're concern about your health and weight. Just know that you're not alone. We're here to encourage and provide support. Little about me. I'm 58, 5'4 and 255lbs. I'm scheduled to have WLS on July 25th. I wish you the best in whatever decision you make. Keep your head up high!

    Surgery day fears

Let's not blast the spouse. Instead give support and encourage her through this time of need. You will be just fine. I'm sure you have made a decision that you won't regret later. And that matters the most. Keep your head up high and pray without ceasing. You got this one. I wish you the best on your new and exciting journey.

  12. You look absolutely GREAT! Congrats to you in this new journey.
  13. I've been going back and forth with my decision as well. Do I want the Sleeve or Bypass?????? The choices we have to make. I decided to go with the Gastric Bypass due to my current medical conditions...diabetic, high blood pressure and knee arthiritis. According to research, GB has the highest rate in improving these type of conditions. Some people even stop taking meds as soon as 2 days after GB surgery. This is awesome. So do your research, don't be afraid to talk to those who had the surgeries and most importantly discuss your concerns with your Doctor. Just remember, the choice is yours, you want to be able to make a sound decision and have no regrets aftewards. I wish you the best in your new journey.
  14. Has anyone been diagnose with liver disease during WLS or know of anyone who had liver problems prior to surgery? If so, what was the outcome? Is checking the function of the liver a requirement before WLS is preformed??? I'm just curious.
  15. I agree with Nyseness, I went back and forth on which procedure i wanted to go with. I'm 99.9% on Gastric Bypass. I did a ton of research via the web, books speaking with others whose been through both Sleeve and Bypass surgeries. My Dr. said that I am a good candidate for either. Due to my current conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure and artiritis in both knees, I decided that GB would be the best choice for me. I'm currently in the pre-op stage. I wish you the best in your decision.
  16. Thanks for sharing. That's nice to know.
  17. Wow that's great. Congrats on your weight loss. I'm just curious and I know each WL program is diffferent. But during my WLS orientation, we were told that pasta, rice and corn will no longer be a part of our diet after surgery.

    Just wondering

Girl you look GREAT! Keep melting those pounds away. Which surgery did you have? I'm still going through the process so I don't have a surgery date yet. But i'ts my understanding that weight loss is more rapid with the Gastic Bypass. Also, everyone is different when it comes to losing weight. Congrats to you and keep up the good work.

    Changed my surgeon

Congrats to you. Have you decided which surgery yet? Just curious because I'm also diabetic and have HP.
