I had to stop premier protein, and drink only muscle milk. Muscle milk is lactose free and this is not an uncommon issue. Mine is improving. I also use Lactaid when I drink premier protein, and it helps. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am a rare case. It's not unusual to get hives after a major body trauma like surgery. I developed idiopathic urticaria (hives and itching) after my c section in 1991. Most people it's short term, but I've itched every single day since then. Every day! All over. Using a comb, leaves whelp a on my head. Toweling off triggers an itching attack. Been on various meds over the years, but currently taking Zyrtec. Benadryl and benadryl cream is also good. If it keeps up or you can write on your skin and it gets raised and red, see a dermatologist. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

I didn't have a preop diet due to my Bmi. If I did, it would have been lean protein/leafy green veggie based. Not all Dr's are super strict. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

If you're having all over itching, Zyrtec is the ticket! Mine cleared up with steroid cream. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Pre-op
GassyGurl replied to dawnwhite_65@hotmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to arrive 2 hours ahead of time and it flew by. I woke up 2 hours later with no pain, only mild discomfort. I helped myself switch hospital beds and was getting up by myself to walk and pee. It wasn't graceful, but as long as I went slow, I was OK. I would rate my worst surgical pain a 2. Gas pain a 5, and IV medication burning a 7. Totally tolerable! On my way to the hospital

Yes! You will be OK. I used to do the same. Tonight, after I ate my two ounces, I took another taste from the pan as I walked by, and it was my first experience over stuffing my pouch. It went from fine, to OMG I AM GOING TO DIE. Lesson learned! I hope. Just get back on track and you'll be fine. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Well, it was a custom blend of venison and wild hog, but turkey sausage works OK too [emoji4] Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

I did consults with 5 surgeons, and cutting caffeine was on the 'things to start now' list. They told us once we are able to meet our 64 Oz fluid goal after surgery, we can add it back. I'm day 10 post op, having my first cup and we will see how it goes. I might be bouncing off the walls soon one of my favorite things to do make a protein shake with cup of decaf, scoop of vanilla protein powder, a little milk and a little Splenda and blend in the magic bullet. 20g of protein, 15oz of liquid and a lot of frothy yumminess. They will only help once the gas is in your bowels. It will not help when the gas is in your body cavity. Walk, walk, walk, and the gas x could come in handy at some point. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Is Constant Vomiting Normal ☹️?
GassyGurl replied to ILOVETEXAS210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No! I am on day 8 and haven't even come close to vomiting. I'm sure if I overeat, I might, but I am sticking to my plan. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
If you can manage to lay on your left side, it could change your life. I had a 10 car car ride home 3 days after surgery and was so miserable. Once I got home, I laid down on my left side and quickly began farting like there was no tomorrow. Not ladylike, but I felt so much better in like 20 minutes! I went with isopure, because I found a 1 lb bag on amazon for like $15. I didn't want to spend $45 for 3 pounds of something and potentially not like it. (plus, I'm self pay and just spent $9k!) Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Many surgeons use the 'pee test' to know if you're drinking enough. Your urine should be very light by mid day. If not, drink more. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Gastric Bypass versus Sleeve- right after surgery
GassyGurl replied to zallykatz16's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my surgeon, it's pretty much all the same, except post op vitamin requirements and maybe 1 less night in the hospital with the sleeve. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hiatal Hernia! Help please!
GassyGurl replied to She_red_dee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I actually had a type II hiatal hernia (stomach and esophagus bulging up) and I had it fixed and the sleeve at the same time. Prior to surgery, I had heartburn daily, slept with a Wedge pillow and tool ppi's twice a day. Since surgery, not a shred of heartburn! I feel better than I have felt in a long time. I did consults with Dr's, and they all told me the sleeve would be OK. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Pain when taking in liquids
GassyGurl replied to mpolyard's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I was drinking too fast. If I drink, then wait 30 seconds, then drink again, it's mostly pain free. It stinks to sit here and watch the clock, but if I glance up and drink when the big hand hits 0, then again at :30,i seem to be handling it better. I guess I was just being too confident in my abilities. -
I have always been grossed out by eggs. But we have chickens, so I feel like I need to eat them. The corned beef hash trick is my favorite! Before surgery, I used to do a little grits, then a little egg, then hash. Yum! I've also had luck with sausage. More sausage and a dry scrambled egg. Too much egg makes me gag, but if I get the ratio right, it's hard to tell. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

How much leave time are you taking?
GassyGurl replied to Seerae3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a type II hernia repair and the sleeve. I'm not able to get all of my fluids nor protein in yet, but I feel OK (so far). -
Anxiety and people knowing about surgery
GassyGurl replied to pp11150330's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does your company have a 3rd party handle its disability? I called a company, talked to a stranger, told them I had morbid obesity, and that was pretty much it. I was worried about my boss, because he's a jerk. But I had also kept a bottle of antacid on my desk and made sure he knew I suffered gastric problems over the past few weeks. So he pretty much assumed something to fix that and I never said a word. His business is to make sure there is coverage of my job, benefit administratiors do the rest. And if your Dr says it's medically necessary, it's not elective. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app -
