    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hi Pigglet, I go for the confirmation scan at 9.15am this morning about the hernia but this is the 5th one and the doctor is certain anyway. I'll have to be opened up "again". Not looking forward to that!! I think it may have been forced through because of all the horrenous vomiting. Oh, by the way, the Mylanda didn't help at all last night, was up 6 times last night before my stomach was finally empty and could go to sleep. Don't know where it all comes from. Hope you are doing well. Hey Wade, How are you feeling? Best wishes to all.:grouphug:

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hi Pigglet, I'll add these to my shopping list and give them a go. It's all healthy stuff, so why not. :crying: Finally had success. The GP recommended Mylanta 3 times per day, plus anti nausea tablets but I really don't get nausea so I might give them a miss. Gotta go. :Dancing_biggrin:

Hi Wade, Nope, given nothing at all on leaving hospital. Saw a GP today, said "Hernia" the dreaded word. I have scans done tomorrow morning. Damn, damn, damn :Dancing_biggrin:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi winsprettywoman, I understand your feelings exactly. Before my banding I couldn't find the STOP button on anything, food or drink. I was an emotional eater. Maybe you could try what I did for quitting smoking 40 per day. I decided NO MORE!! Everytime I craved, I would take a deep breath of fresh air, count to ten and slowly sip a glass of Water. If I was at home, I'd get a good book to read or a difficult pattern to knit so that I'd have to concentrate hard. The brain wanted the cigarettes just like the food but I knew it was my health or else. It's been 12 years now and I can't stand the smell of cigarettes. Just a thought that may help. Best wishes.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi JoannMarie, Thank you for your kind words. Yes, we do have shops like that here. We call them Op Shops = Opportunity Shops. That is a great idea, as soon as I get some ME time, I'll have a look. I always intend to have some ME time but with looking after my folks and taking them to their physio appts etc (they've both had knee replacements recently) running a business from home and trying to clear their house so they are able to sell it, ME time is a few hours sleep in on a Sunday. At the moment I couldn't buy anything nice or fitted because the cricket ball that is protruding from my abdomen doesn't look very attractive and is getting bigger everyday. Most likely another hernia (5th one) or a bowel blockage ( haven't been able to go for over a week even with tablets). Going to insist my GP sends me for a CT Scan asap. Gosh you'll be a full bottle on all of this before you go in for your op. You'll be able to tell the surgeon a thing or two as well. Best wishes.

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hi Wade, What is the blue book? I wasn't given nausea tablets. Wasn't given anything to take home with me at all. Taking Panamex now though. Hoping to get some sleep tonight as last night was horrible. Best wishes.

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hi Pigglet, Which one would you recommend to start with? Haven't been for just over a week and even then not good. What a lovely discussion eh!! Tried another jar of baby food for lunch today, not as bad as the others thank goodness. Kept it down until I had a coffee an hour later, then up it all came. I'm willing to try anything at the moment because the GPs advice about Coloxal with Senna hasn't worked. Are these things available from the Health Food Shops? Many thanks,

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hi To Everyone, Forgot to tell you that I actually bought some jars of baby food thinking that might fix me up but "OH YUK" No thanks. The sweets weren't too bad but have only a tiny bit of flavour in them. Water seems to go down ok unless I gulp. Still trying to learn to drink before I'm thirsty. I would LOVE a beer.:tongue_smilie: Best wishes.

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hello Everyone, Thank you all for your concern and good wishes. I'm going to try to get an appointment with my GP this week and I also want a CT scan done on my abdomen because I have a solid cricket ball in my midriff on the right side. Could be another hernia (5th one) or could be a bowel obstruction, neither of which is good news. The reflux is ongoing and I sleep (when I can) propped up. Even coffee can have me feeling blocked. So sorry to hear about your brother Pigglet. I certainly will get it checked. My surgeon doesn't have a back up surgeon. I thought that was rather strange, found out when the wound opened up and let loose when I came home from hospital. I have a 24centinmetre scar down my abdomen. I had to go to my GP every day for 2 weeks for dressings and antibiotics. I really don't want to be opened up anymore. Still can't keep much down and don't seem to go at the other end either, even through I'm taking Coloxal with Senna. I'm now down to 84.5kilos. Hope you all are fighting fit and healthy. Have a great weekend. I'm going to sleep in till lunchtime. Yahoo!!!

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

Hiya Pigglet, I sure will, as soon as I get them. I was suffering so badly with gas etc last night that I saw an advert for "Reflux Cure" on one of the Lapbandtalk US threads and jumped in and bought it for $20.00 US. It is honey and cider vinegar with about 15 pages of unecessary printing of testamonials from so called other buyers. I tried it and was still up all ruddy night. I guess I was at a point that I'd grab anything for relief. Waste of money. Come in sucker! I'm still interested in the food combinations though, especially as it's worked so well for the lady at IGA. My scales told me that I've lost another 1/2 kilo this morning, = 85kgs. No wonder, can't keep anything down. If it doesn't come up after dinner, it sure will as soon as I get up in the morning, if not both. Sorry, on a bit of a downer because of the discomfort lately. I'll try to be more positive.

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

How awful to have those problems when you were on holidays. I find it really strange that after all the years banding has been done that GPs still don't know much at all about it. How on earth can they refer patients without knowing something!! My GP admited that he knows nothing about it either. He's not the one I was refered by but I still would feel better if he had some idea about it when I needed help and can't see the surgeon. I've been having bad, bad, reflux and gas= heavy, loud, painful burps that go on and on as well as throwing up everyday. Rang surgeon this morning to try to put forward my appt (29th) but he's operating in Karatha so I'll just have to suffer it out. Not very nice.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I've finally been able to convert kilos into pounds. My pre-lapband weight on the 9th June '08 was 112kilos = 246.4lbs As of this morning, I weigh 85 kilos = 187lbs. That makes a total of 27kilos = 59.4lbs lost. No wonder my clothes are baggy. It hasn't been a totally fun experience but at least the results are worth it.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Are the liquid probiotics = Yakult, in the dairy section of the supermarkets any good? I've been having to walk to the shops for the past two weeks as my car is still in the smash repairers, and I'm quite enjoying it now, except when I get carried away and have to lug lots of shopping home. This morning I had a wonderful surprise, the scales said 85.5kg (down from 112kg) so I've lost another 1.5kg. I thought the ruddy scales were never going to move again. Yabbadabbadoo!!!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thankyou for your kind comments JoannMarie. I keep thinking that it's something I'm doing wrong to cause it. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week so I'm going to lay it on him rather heavily that this is not right and see what he says. He is very hard to get in to see. He suggested that no more abdominal operations be done after the last op because of the state of my innards, so I know he's not keen to go in again. Thanks again.

Hi Everyone, Has anyone heard from Wade? I've been sending him good vibes all the time, especially the day of his op, as I'm sure you all have been too. How is everyone going? Best wishes to all.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

My doctor said the same thing about the acid reflux and I thought " If only you could feel what it's like you wouldn't be so blas'e about it". I've been reading on Google about Wrong Food Combinations being a cause of severe reflux and have asked on this thread if anyone has any information about this but no one has replied.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Flowers, I have felt the same way, so it's not only you. I suffer quite often with a rash under my belly, especially in the summertime. My doctor has given me a cream called Bactroban 2% Cream 15G to use 3 times a day, plus another Elocon Cream 0.1% to use at night. Surprisingly, results started straight away and I've been very pleased. The Bactroban cost $20.95 for the small tube but for the relief has been well worth it. Can't remember how much the other one cost. Not sure if they're under the same names over there though as I'm in Western Australia. Best wishes.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I think you're right phyllser, couldn't stop throwing up and burping last night. Don't know where it all comes from. I'm worried that the band may have slipped like last time. The stomach slipped through, fell over the band cutting the blood supply and turned necrotic. 16 days in intensive care. Not a well girl. Four years later, tried again with a different surgeon who stitches the stomach over the band so it's not supposed to move. Hope it hasn't as this was my last chance to lose weight. All other avenues had failed. I've had four abdominal hernias repaired since the first band was removed but this is the worst the reflux has been. I've just read that the wrong food combinations can cause bad reflux, so I might look into that at well. Know anything about that?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Lizalee, Thanks for the information. I had and edoscopy a few months before the 2nd banding to check for ulcers = none. Didn't have a problem with reflux till after the banding, now it's continual and so very wearing. I mentioned it to my surgeon last visit nearly two months ago but all he said was not to eat or drink anything after 6.30pm. Problem is that it is all day long and through the night. Can't take much more of this. I see the surgeon again at the end of the month. Thanks again for your concern and advice.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I really feel for you as I had the pain in my left shoulder after the operation and it was cruel. Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to get rid of it either, it just eased off after a few days, thank goodness. I still suffer from wind and embarrasingly loud burping. I hope you have better luck.
