  1. Well, mine is very curly and if I cut it, I would look like Orphan Annie!
  2. I can relate to those comments. I have long natural curly hair and everyone is always saying what beautiful hair I have, but not that I am beautiful anywhere else!

    How long.....

Since I can't orgasm from penetration anyway, it's no big deal to me. I have to have other stimulation and my husband is WONDERFUL at it. But he was a little worried about it.
  4. I didn't know exactly what to say! I just stared at her with a blank expression because I couldn't believe she said that. Afterwards, I thought of a few choice words that I could have said!
  5. I totally agree with you MacMadame. I was one of those people who ALWAYS felt hungry no matter what I did. The band has taken care of that.
  6. Yes, I got lucky and had mine done in May. I didn't have to take any classes in the summer, so I had all summer to recoperate. But I know what you mean, they don't want us doing ANYTHING either, even breathing, LOL. When is your surgery? If your school is like mine, we don't start clinicals until October. So if you are scheduled soon and don't have clinicals for awhile, you will probably be ok. Have you thought about talking to the instuctor? Maybe they will be a little sympathetic. (None of mine know yet). How long do you have left in school?
  7. Restlessmonkey, I am also in nursing school.

Restricted foods that you can't live without?

I have no problem at all with shrimp. It is actually easier for me to eat than any other kind of meat. I can eat just about anything I want, including steak, as long as I take small bites and chew well. The only thing that gives me a lot of problems is bread.

    Not so great news

I'm sorry to hear that. But you are right, some women have periods up until they deliver and it is normal for some. Keep us posted.
  10. I am very close to my coworkers too, but I didn't tell them about my surgery. It's not very hard to hide it. I just took a few days off for personal reasons and no one really questioned it. I didn't tell many people at all, mainly because I just didn't want to be judged.
  11. I don't see any problem with a young person getting this surgery. How many of us that are older wish we would have had it when we were younger? I am only 30, but I wish I had it done a long time ago. It is so much easier to lose weight when you are in your early 20's than when you get older. I think I would have lost the weight a lot quicker if I had been banded when I was 20 instead of 30. It has been a slow loss for me, but it is still one of the best decisions I ever made. I think anyone who is at least 30 pounds overweight, regardless of age, should be able to get this surgery.

HELP! A question im embarrased to bring up

I can totally sympathize with you. I have horrible stretch marks on the inside of my thighs and I am SO embarrassed when I go to the gyno. I feel like the stretch marks are all they see. I know that's not true, but I have thoughts of them laughing at me when I leave. (Totally irrational, I know). I would also suggest a female for the first time at least. I also see a nurse practitioner, and I feel like she provides better care than doctors and she takes more time with me. Not to be personal, but if you are not on some kind of birth control, maybe you should consider it because we get more fertile as we lose weight.
  13. One coworker (who was bigger than me) ask one day if my feet hurt. I said no. She said, "I'm surprised your feet don't hurt, you being such a big girl and all."
  14. I agree, it is not the easy way out. I hate when people say that.

    IBS with the band.

I don't know about the SSRI's. I took Celexa for a long time and it never seemed to help with my IBS.

    IBS with the band.

I've had IBS my entire life and I was also very scared it would make it worse. But it is so much better. I used to have a lot of nausea. I haven't had it since being banded. I used to have awful flare ups and even get fevers with the flare ups, but I haven't had one since surgery. (My surgery was May 22). I still do have some diarrhea, but not like before.

    My new WEBSITE!!!!

    The link doesn't work.
  18. The band does suppress my appetite pretty good. I have to make myself eat most of the time.
  19. Hi, I took phentermine a few years ago and lost weight too. I think the band is similar to it because you don't feel hungry. But the band doesn't have the side effects that the drugs do, which is great. The band is MUCH better!!

    Only 2 fills?

I had my surgury on 5/22. I have only had 2 fills. I am scheduled to have my 3rd next week. But my question is, is it normal to only need 2 fills? I feel restriction and I can only eat about a cup at a time. I don't get hungry for 5 or 6 hours. I am afraid if I get a 3rd fill, I am going to be too tight. Has anyone else only needed to get 2 fills?
  21. "If a woman goes through life without having children there are so many questions and assumptions. Like, why didn't she have kids, could she not physically have kids? Then to find out she CHOSE not to have kids she is looked at as a bitch or heartless!" I TOTALLY agree with you. That is what I was trying to say earlier. I don't have any kids and don't even think I want them. I have had no desire to be a mother. People think there is something majorly wrong with me in the head, especially my family. I get tired of defending my right not to have any.

    Only 2 fills?

kaytay, are you exercising at all? That would probably help. Maybe you need another fill. Some people need a lot of fills before they feel any difference.
  23. I agree with you. If a man doesn't want the child and has nothing to do with it, and doesn't pay support, how is that different than a woman not wanting it and having an abortion? You are right, women can't expect it to be all their decision, but only have half the responsibility. I never really thought about it that way. I also know what you mean about a crazy nut job coming after men. My husband has a 16 year old son and he has paid child support and health care (voluntarily) since he was born, even though the child doesn't want to have anything to do with him. The child's mother doesn't want my husband to have anything to do with him either, but she sure wants her support check every week.
  24. You need to get another one? That's terrible!!!
