My doctor has me start out by lying down. Then he accesses the port. After he has the needle in, I have to stand up in front of the flouro machine. Then I drink the barium and he looks at the picture to make sure everything is ok. Then he does the fill while I am still standing. It feels really weird to get up and stand with a needle in your stomach!

One of my coworkers is on yaz and she thinks she is pregnant. She is about 3 weeks late.

My doctor has me stand as well.

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
Carrie_C replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really think a lot of people believe that it is acceptable. -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?

My surgeon has the same requirements. -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
Carrie_C replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My rudest comments have also been from my mother. And she's never been skinny. She once said "are you just going to accept yourself like that or are you going to do something about it?" Or one that sticks with me that she said when I was younger, "You should be skinny." Or "What size are you up to now?" I told my Dad once that my sister had lost a lot of weight and I was afraid she was anorexic. He said "Well, when are you going to lose some?" -
I never had a problem remembering to take it either. I can't remember to take my vitamins or anything else, but I can remember that pill!

smartiegirl, I know what you mean. I work in a doctors office and most of the girls that work there are the same way. They talk about patients right at the window and the whole lobby can hear. The doctor has even done it. You are right, it is very unprofessional, not to mention illegal. -
No! Please don't stop commenting!

Yes, occasionally. Things have been pretty good lately.

Has anyone taken phen/fen who has also been banded?
Carrie_C replied to annecolorgreen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am afraid to take any diet pills too. The girls I work with pop them like candy. -
Just my 2 cent's, but I think the best guy friend definitely has feelings for you, other than friendship. He seemed very worried about how much you were drinking and who you were with.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

It wasn't just the video that made me think twice. I am a nursing student, and learning about fetal development and everything, there is no way I could think that a fetus is not living. There is no way I could not think it was wrong to end a little life, which is basically what a fetus is. In fact, I know of some students who were prochoice until we took those classes, then they changed their minds. The "procedure" may be simple, but what actually occurs inside the womb and after is not simple. Do you know that at a lot of places where abortions are done, even first trimester ones, the nurses have to reassemble the fetus to make sure all the parts are there and that none were left inside the woman? How would you like to have that job? That alone has turned many nurses and other medical personel against abortion. I am not saying that I am against abortion for women who may die having the child. That is a different situation. Either way, someone is going to die, either the mother or the child. I can't imagine having to make that choice. Again, with rape and incest, that is also a terrible thing, and I don't think a woman or young girl should have to be made to carry that child. But let's face it, most abortions are done on healthy women who got pregnant on their own, either using protection or not. I am not saying that I think abortion should be illegal, I am still on the fence. I just think more women need to be educated on what is actually going on in her body, and what an abortion actually does. I think most of all, unwanted pregnancy needs to be prevented in the first place. There needs to be more education about birth control and abstinence. Then we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now. Too many women use abortions as birth control, and that should not be happening. -

26 and facing a hysterectomy..please help
Carrie_C replied to bandster_1007's topic in The Gals' Room
I can't speak from personal experience, but my sister had to have a hysterectomy when she was 25. (She had cancer). She is now 38 and she hasn't had any problems. Her sex drive is as high as ever! That's all she talks about! -
I never tried yaz, but I tried yasmin, which is basically the same, except there are more active pills in yaz. I didn't do well with yasmin. It made my periods crazy. I was bleeding at least 2 weeks out of the month. I can't take the high dose pills because they make me sick. I am on loestrin right now, and my periods are finally back to normal. That ring gave me horrible cramps, plus it was hard to insert and I had a fear all the time that it wasn't in the right place.

Yea, we don't have sex very often either, so that's probably why he can't last long. Who has the time or energy these days?!

I was once prochoice, but after watching and learning how an abortion is actually preformed, how violent it is, I have to say, it has really made me think twice. Like I said in an earlier post, I think if more people actually saw it and knew how it was done, a lot more people would change their minds. And it has nothing to do with politics. -

I went to my aunt's 50th birthday party yesterday and she asked me how much have I lost since getting the band. I told her about 25 pounds. I had just gotten off work and still had my uniform on. My snobby cousin said "Well, I can't tell that you've lost anything in those scrubs." I was very offended. I felt like saying "Oh yea, well, at least I can lose the weight from my ass, you can't lose those big ears." -

I think no matter what help is available or not availabe, abortions are going to continue to happen, either legal or illegal. Some women just don't want babies. Plain and simple. No amount of help offered is going to change their minds. If they don't want it, they don't want it, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. -

I've straightened mine a few times, but I don't like it. It makes me look older. -
