When I waited tables, I didn't have to pay a percentage of sales. I did have to report all my tips and they were taxed. The taxes were taken out of my check, so my check was usually only a few dollars since I only worked for $2.13 an hour.

I'm glad you said something, because I was thinking the same thing! I used to fake ALL the time with one of my exboyfriend's. I just couldn't have an orgasm and he would get mad. So I just started faking it. But now I see how bad that was. I have never faked with my husband. If I can't do it, then I just can't.

Lap band - don't do it!! Scarred for life
Carrie_C replied to LAPBANDFREE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are right about the junk food, it does go straight through. I can also eat anything crunchy with no problem. People who are thinking about being banded need to really know that, because it does take a total lifestyle change. I have found that I can eat a huge order of nachos from taco bell with no problem. I have had to learn to say no to all of that kind of food. I agree that people aren't told about all the problems up front. I wasn't told about the hair loss. In fact, I was told the opposite, that it wouldn't fall out. But it is, majorly. I have long hair and I am going to have to get it cut because it has gotten so thin. The doctor's and everyone else at the seminar and nutrition classes made it all sound so easy and so great. While I am glad I got the band and I wouldn't want it removed, I think it is wrong for people not to be told the truth up front. There are a lot of things I wasn't told. It was glamourized by everyone I talked to before I got it. -
That's funny because everyone's posts are looking HUGE on my computer. Must be something going on.

Lap band - don't do it!! Scarred for life

I am sorry for everyone that is having, or has had, problems with the band. I know it is possibe to follow all the rules and still have problems. But I still don't believe the OP. I think she was a troll. She hasn't even been back on to respond to any of this. -
I don't have a problem with tipping. But what bothers me is, people expect a big tip no matter how good the service is. To me, tipping is given to people who do a good job, if it's a waitress or a hairdresser, or whoever. But if I go into a restaurant and get bad service, I am not going to leave a tip. That offends some people. The last few times my husband and I have eaten out, we have had terrible service. At one restaurant, we waited a long time for our drinks to be refilled. The restaurant was not busy and our waitress was in with a group of other waitresses talking and laughing, and just having a good time. I finally had to go up to her myself and ask if we could have refills. Guess what? We didn't leave a tip. So if I get good service, I will leave at least 20%, but I'm not going to leave a tip when the service is bad just because it is expected.

You've lost 120 pounds! That's great! Try not to beat yourself up so much, especially since this is the first time you have gained since being banded. But I do understant how you feel. I gained 2 pounds this week and I was very unhappy. I am going for a fill next week.

"Most waiters/waitresses only make $2.01 an hour" This is why I quit waiting tables a long time ago. Tips, no matter how much, could never make up for the difference.

I've never had one, but I was approched in a resturant by a girl who was looking to have one with her boyfriend. She said I was just his type. She said they have them all the time. It was a really weird feeling to be asked that in a resturant by a complete stranger!
-
I think tipping has gotten out of hand too. If I get bad service in a resturant, I don't tip at all. When I go for a massage, which usually costs anywhere from $30-$60 depending on how long it is, I only give $5. That is all I can afford.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Carrie_C replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't go by the doctor's scale if I were you. They are seldom right. I work at a doctor's office and ours is almost 10 pounds off, they weigh everyone 10 pounds more than what they actually weigh. Most of them are just old. I know ours is. I would get a good decent digital scale and weigh on it everytime, and go by what it says. -

I really don't like you people. LOL -
One of my bosses once told me that my hair looked nice that day. I took it as a compliment, but his boss overheard him say it and he got into trouble, because it was considered harrassment. I didn't take it that way. I think some of these things get taken way out of hand.

I believe in the fat gene too.

I agree, it's not that hard to hide it from people. I was banded in May, and the people I work with still don't know. Everyone is always on some kind of diet anyway, so no one really notices how I eat now.

I take 2000 mcg of Biotin a day, plus multivitamins, plus calcium, plus I get a lot of protein. So I just don't get it. -

I love my band, but I also wasn't told about the hair loss. I was in fact told the opposite, that it only falls out if you have gastric bypass. Well, 4 months later, my hair is now very thin. Even if I would have know about it, I still would have gotten the band. But if they would have told me about it, at least I would know to expect it and not be so devastated when it started thinning. -
I don't see it as sexism. If he would have said, "Look at her nice tits" then it would be!!!

I think that's a great idea! But I have heard that Oprah is against any type of WLS, so she might not want us there! -

Are you measuring your inches? I do mine once a month. I haven't lost much pound wise, but I have lost inches. -
I take chewable calcium from Walgreens. It is only $10 for 75.
