I have never heard of that before. -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Carrie_C replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't understand how some have lost so much and others like me haven't. -
who supports right to choose

Plenty of women who have had an abortion don't regret it. Just because someone is prochoice doesn't mean that they've had an abortion. I don't personally think I could ever have one, but I can certainly understand why someone would have one. And if I were ever raped and needed to have one, or if my 12 year old daughter were raped and needed one, it is good to know the choice is there for us to make. It is no one else's business. -

But not everyone feels the same as you. -

I don't think most women who have abortions decide it easily. I think it is a very hard choice to make. There are many reasons why women have abortions. I don't think we have the right to judge unless we have been in their shoes. -
Poll: Question For Pro-choicers?.
Carrie_C replied to ELENATION's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only support second or third trimester abortions if the mother's life is in danger or if there is something wrong with the baby and it would suffer greatly if it were born. By the second trimester, a woman should know if she wants to abort or not. Abortion in my state is only legal up to 12 weeks. I knew one girl who had to go out of state to have an abortion because she was late into her second trimester. She was just lazy and kept putting it off. But she had like 5 abortions before, so I guess it was no big deal to her. I think that is so wrong. Abortion is also a lot more dangerous after the first trimester. I don't really see why a woman would need to have an abortion during the third trimester if her life was in danger. There are so many medical advances today. A lot of babies born very early in the third trimester live and do just fine. I have a friend who had twins early, like 8 weeks early, and they are normal 3 year olds now. -
That's a good idea about the prunes. I hadn't thought of that.

I think a woman that is pregnant from rape should be able to make her own decision about continuing a pregnancy or not. It is really no one else's business. She should not be forced to carry a child of rape. For people against abortion in this case, I just wonder how they would feel if they themselves, or their wives or girlfriends, were to become pregnant by rape. None of us know how we would feel or what we would decide unless we were in that situation. I don't think it's fair to say it is wrong unless we know what it is like. -
You can buy boxes of Splenda (not in packs) and it measures just like sugar. I use about a cup for 3 quarts. It works really well.

How did you decide your goal weight?
Carrie_C replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would like to get below 200 too. The day that happens, I will really celebrate!! -
I just bought some Nioxin. A girl at work swears by it. I really hope it helps.

My port is right in the middle of my chest, in between my breasts. I like it there. The big scar is hidden by my bra. And if I ever want to wear a bikini top, it will cover the scar as well. I haven't had any problems with underwire bras.

Yes, I agree, it is very hard to get in all the water when you can't drink at meals. That has been my biggest problem.

How did you decide your goal weight?
Carrie_C replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think a BMI between 20 and 26 is considered normal anyway. -
I had my surgery in May too, and I have had the same problem. Nothing has seemed to help.

I thought I looked pretty good at 150, and weighing that, my BMI would be in the healthy range. So that's why I chose it. -
Ok, someone tell me what a protein bullet is.
-
slim, when do you go for your first fill?
-
I have been taking Biotin, and it is not helping. Dr Fromm said I should make sure I am getting 60 grams of protein a day. I'm probably not getting that. So I got a protein mix at walmart. I am going to try it. If it doesn't help I don't know what I will do.

I think she just cut her hair last week. It does not look good at all. When I went to the preop class, they told me my hair wouldn't fall out, that it only happens to gastric bypass patients. They were so wrong.

My husband was worried about a lot of the things you are. But it is not bad. She will have to eat slow, so you will probably finish eating at the same time. It is no big deal once you get used to it.

I didn't feel anything from the actual needle. But a few seconds later it felt like a really bad bee sting. But I had actually forgotten about it until now.

It's nice to hear you are excited about turning 40! I freaked when I turned 30!

That's good that they owe you some money for a change. I think they will owe me some money too, if they ever get with the program and appeal my insurance. Anyway, I went in Wednesday for my 3rd fill. They didn't charge me anything for it. I don't know why, and I didn't ask. I didn't have any money to pay anyway. Dr Fromm did the fill. I waited forever, and I was the only one there. Everytime I go, I wait at least an hour. You are right about Johnna, she has lost a lot. But I saw Brooke and I didn't even recognize her. She cut all of her hair off, like really really short. It looks terrible. And I am not saying this to be mean, but she looked like she had gained at least 50 pounds. She looked awful. I don't know if it was her hair (or lack of) making her look heavier or what. I tried talking to Dr Fromm about my hair, it is really falling out. He didn't really have any advice. He acted like it is not normal, but I know a lot of people here that it has happened to. He didn't really seem interested.
