Average age of a Bandster?
Carrie_C replied to Kellster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 30 and was banded in May. I would have done it sooner if I could. I had the option of doing it back a few years ago, but didn't do it. -
In fact, I think most movies are stupid now, and tv shows. I have no interest in any of them.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Carrie_C replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't lost anything either this week. I go for a fill on Wdenesday and hopefully things will get moving again. -
Yea, it's stupid.
-
Yea, it is hard at first until you start getting a few fills. I was at the sweet spot when I had my second fill. Now I can't seem to get right. I didn't have to do a preop diet. Hang in there and it will get better.
-
slim, you've lost 25 pounds, that's great! I am losing slow, but if I could get right with my fills, I know I could lose more. I have had 3 fills, but the last one was too tight and I had to go have some let out. I go Wednesday for another fill, so hopefully things will get moving again.

Congrats on the 100 pounds!! I am losing slow, but if I could get right with my fills, I know I would lose more. I have had 3 fills, but the last one was too tight so I had to have some let out. I go Wednesday for another fill, so hopefully things will be moving again. -
You will probably have to have an EKG. That should be it. I had to have blood work, upper GI, and an EKG.

That's a good idea about the FMLA, I never thought of that.

Maybe they should ask those same students again after a few years of experiencing real life and see if their answers change. -

Carrie_C replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why did they ask high school students?? High school students don't know a thing about the real world. Give me a break. As far as informed consent, I do agree that we need to know the facts about fetal development and human biology. But there also comes a thing called personal responsibilty. Meaning that we have a responsibility ourselves to know this stuff and do our own research. It is not all the responsibility of health care workers to supply this information. I can not imagine going in for surgery, let along an abortion, without finding out all the facts for myself. -
I don't understand Johnna either. It is really stupid. I have never even met Dr Ponce! I haven't seen my surgeon, Dr Paynter since my surgery in May. Dr Fromm has done most of my fills. He is very nice, and very good looking!!

I don't know how some are losing so much either. Are you all eating at all??!!!! -
I don't know slim, that's stupid. They still haven't even gotten my insurance straightened out. Johnna was supposed to appeal mine from where they denied it. All she had to do was send in the appeal form, and then Cigna would pay them. Instead of sending in the form, she resubmitted the old charges. So of course they denied it again. It has been over 5 months since my surgery and she still has not did it right. I swear, I don't think she knows what she is doing. I went in a few weeks ago and had an unfill becasue I was too tight. Brooke did it, and she looks totally different. She looks like she has gained a lot of weight back.

That doctor sounds really mean! I wouldn't like being talked to like that. My doctor told me that they don't really expect you to lose a whole lot until after a few fills. I think his behavior was uncalled for. -

I agree, he's not afraid to say what he believes. -
Poll: Question For Pro-choicers?.
Carrie_C replied to ELENATION's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your welcome, green. That is why I posted the speech, so others could read what else he said. That being said, I don't really care, I am still voting for him. There are a lot more important issues in this country other than abortion. We are at war, our economy is terrible, so many people are losing their homes, millions don't have health insurance. I think Obama could make a change, especially when it comes to women's health. I don't really agree with late term abortions, but what is the alternative? Vote for Mccain, just because he is prolife? No thanks. -
Poll: Question For Pro-choicers?.
Carrie_C replied to ELENATION's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, I never said it was inaccurate. I was just posting his full speech. You make it sound like his whole speech was about that, and it wasn't. It was also about making birth control and health care available and affordabe to women. Are you against that as well? -
Poll: Question For Pro-choicers?.
Carrie_C replied to ELENATION's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Actually this is what he said. "Thirty-five years after the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, it's never been more important to protect a woman's right to choose. Last year, the Supreme Court decided by a vote of 5-4 to uphold the Federal Abortion Ban, and in doing so undermined an important principle of Roe v. Wade: that we must always protect women's health. With one more vacancy on the Supreme Court, we could be looking at a majority hostile to a women's fundamental right to choose for the first time since Roe v. Wade. The next president may be asked to nominate that Supreme Court justice. That is what is at stake in this election. "Throughout my career, I've been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America. "When South Dakota passed a law banning all abortions in a direct effort to have Roe overruled, I was the only candidate for President to raise money to help the citizens of South Dakota repeal that law. When anti-choice protesters blocked the opening of an Illinois Planned Parenthood clinic in a community where affordable health care is in short supply, I was the only candidate for President who spoke out against it. And I will continue to defend this right by passing the Freedom of Choice Act as president. "Moreover, I believe in and have supported common-sense solutions like increasing access to affordable birth control to help prevent unintended pregnancies. In the Illinois state Senate, when Congress failed to require insurance plans to cover FDA-approved contraceptives, I made sure those contraceptives were covered for women in Illinois. In the U.S. Senate, I've worked with Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) on a bill that would make birth control more affordable for low-income and college women, and introduced the Senate version of Representative Hilda Solis' bill to reduce unintended pregnancies in communities of color. As President, I will improve access to affordable health care and work to ensure that our teens are getting the information and services they need to stay safe and healthy. "But we also know that Roe v. Wade is about more than a woman's right to choose; it's about equality. It's about whether our daughters are going to have the same opportunities as our sons. And so to truly honor that decision, we need to update the social contract so that women can free themselves, and their children, from violent relationships; so that a mom can stay home with a sick child without getting a pink slip; so that she can go to work knowing that there's affordable, quality childcare for her children; and so that the American dream is within reach for every family in this country. This anniversary reminds us that it's not enough to protect the gains of the past – we have to build a future that's filled with hope and possibility for all Americans." Sounds like a good plan to me. -

Should prostitution be legal?

I also think if it were legal, drug use would be even higher than it is now. -

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
Carrie_C replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My goal is 150, but I can't wait to get to 200 too. I am 5'7, and when I weighed 200 (a million years ago) I thought I looked pretty good.
