I'll have to check that out. I don't go to the support groups because I live in Cleveland and it is too far. I wish someone would start one up here.

Does anyone else have this problem? It is very aggrevating. I just got off the treadmill not long ago and now my head is throbbing. Does anyone know what causes this and what can I do to prevent it?
-
My hairloss was slowing down, but it is starting to get really bad again. I don't know what is going on.

I know how you feel, I have lost all motivation. I was doing really well until the weather got cold.

When did the weight begin to come off?
Carrie_C replied to monicasf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should really start to come off now that you are feeling restriction. It did for me. It can take awhile for your body to start burning calories like it should because your metabolism has probably been messed up from being on liquid and soft diets. -
Any food off limits for life?
Carrie_C replied to AMLP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said no carbonation for a year. I don't really get why, but it doesn't bother me either way. I can live without it. You also aren't supposed to take any kind of over the counter pain meds except Tylenol. Anything else can cause ulcers and cause your band to errode. Also no stomach meds like Pepto or Alka Seltzer for the same reason mentioned above. Basically nothing with aspirin. You can have mylanta for a stomach ache. I have been lucky and can eat just about anything except bread. It is very painful. But it is bad for me anyway so I don't miss it. -
Yea, I agree, if anyone ever asks me if I had surgery, I won't lie about it. It may help someone else. There is a girl at work who is always complaining about her weight, and I want to tell her about the band, but no one at work knows I have it, so I haven't said anything. I also don't eat out much anymore. We are having thanksgiving dinner at work wednesday and it is at 11 am, I can't eat much that early in the day and I'm a little worried about what people may say.

It seems like a lot of us were molested.

I didn't know the Lap Band has online support now.
-
I chose the Lap Band just because it has been around longer. I think one of the main differences is with the Realize band, there is an online support group. You can pick a model and see what you will look like when you get to a certain weight. That would be neat, but I just decided to go with the Lap Band since there is more research on it. Slim, my husband would love you avatar!

CIGNA..Pre-Determination of Medical Necessities
Carrie_C replied to lilbit08's topic in Insurance & Financing
I did the 6 month diet before I submitted everything for approval. Once I had everything done, it only took 3 weeks to be approved. You have to have everything done before you even submit it to be approved, including the 6 month diet, and the psych and nutrition evals. It has to be 6 consecutive months, you will have to start all over. -
No emails for me either.

CIGNA..Pre-Determination of Medical Necessities
Carrie_C replied to lilbit08's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have the same type of insurance as you. You will have to do a six month diet if you haven't already. They now accept weight watchers, jenny craig, etc, they didn't when I was trying to get it approved. If you have done any of those diets, get the records. If you haven't had the 6 months, start on it now. You will need it before they will even consider it. You will also need a psy and nutrition eval. Your PCP will also have to write a letter of medical necessity. The doctor needs to put any comorbitites you have in the letter as well as how long you have been overweight. I think they require you to have been overweight for 2 years. As far as losing weight on the 6 month diet, they want you to lose so much percent, I can't remember the exact amount. I was lucky that my surgeons office helped a lot with the paper work. Once everything was submitted, it didn't take long for me to be approved, about 3 weeks. I haven't had any problems with them so far. Good luck! -
I haven't gotten email notifications in months. I emailed someone at the site a while back about it, but no one ever responded.

I have a really bad stomach flu. Any ideas about what to do abou the throwing up?
Carrie_C replied to saravalintine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, you really need to keep some phenergan on hand just in case. It lasts for a long time before it goes bad, so you can keep some in your medicine cabinet just in case. -

You're not supposed to take Pepto because it has aspirin in it. Take mylanta. Or if it is really bad, call the doctor and get a script for phenergan. -
That doesn't surprise me that Johnna isn't calling you back. The nurses are good at returning calls, but she's not.
-
slim, if you don't have any luck with Johnna, call the Dalton office. I think they handle most of the billing anyway.

My Mom never used tampons and she didn't know how to use them, so she couldn't tell me. I had no one else to ask. My Mom didn't have a problem with me using them, but I had to figure out how to put them in on my own. When I was 13, one of my friends gave me a box of tampons, but they were the OB kind that didn't have an applicator. I stayed in the bathroom FOREVER trying to figure out how to put it in!
-
I usually just order water too, and drink up until I eat. But I was at work and wasn't drinking anything when someone asked.
-
It seems like they break a lot, I guess from over use!!!

I know this sounds crazy, but I have squirted just from a cliteral orgasm. Not really squirt, but it is a very heavy stream. I do it all the time.
