Turkey Day Survival Poll
Carrie_C replied to HeatherO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It will be ok. Just up the exercise a little and it will come off again. -
I went to the doctor today and he is checking my thyroid. He gave me some vitamins, Juice Plus, to try. He wants me to take them for a month and see if they help. They are capsules so I have to break them up. They are supposed to be really good.

I have also been doing my measurements and I have also lost more inches than pounds. Bea1128, I start nursing school in August! I hope to be at goal or at least pretty close to it by then. I can't imagine having to wear all white at this size!

CIGNA..Pre-Determination of Medical Necessities
Carrie_C replied to lilbit08's topic in Insurance & Financing
They approved my surgery pretty quick, but my BMI was over 40. I think it is very hard to get them to approve it if your BMI is below that, even if you have several comorbidities. Good luck! -

I wouldn't reschedule. They usually only pay if you have 2 comorbidities with a low BMI. -

Well, I have gained and lost the same stupid pound for weeks now. I seem to be stuck.

Turkey Day Survival Poll
Carrie_C replied to HeatherO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't eat much because my band wouldn't let me. I did eat some ham, which I know is bad, and I ate a piece of chocolate pie. Other than that, I did really well. The best thing was everyone noticed my weight loss, especially an aunt I haven't seen in a very long time. So that was better to me than eating everything in sight. -
You have to do what is best for you and the band is not for everyone. Before I decided to get the band, I did like you. I told myself that I was going to give it one more good try and if it failed, I was getting banded. I lost about 20 pounds, but then my motivation went away and I started binging again and of course gained all the weight back plus more. But that has been the story of my life. Just because dieting and exercising without the band doesn't work for some of us, that doesn't mean that it won't work for you. Good luck!

My Mom made weight a big deal too. She was always on a diet and was constantly comparing herself to other women. I was pretty heavy when I was little and I remember her saying that I was going to be heavy just like her when I grew up. Everytime we were out somewhere, when she would see a heavy woman, she would always ask, "Am I as big as her?" It used to drive me nuts.

I have the same problem, no time.

I agree, I get plenty of protein. My surgeon has been really surprised that I am losing hair. I am going to see my family doctor on Monday just to make sure nothing is wrong.

Carrie_C replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 2 uncles who, every year at thanksgiving and christmas say something about my weight. They act like they are surprised that I am fat, even though I have been fat for over a decade. One, who is big himself, always graps my shoulders and says I'm as big as a bear. The other one always says "so what are you up to now, 300?" I really dread seeing them today. -
Should prostitution be legal?
Carrie_C replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yea, what's that old saying? Marriage is just legal prostitution? LOL -
I think I will!

Thanks. I couldn't even imagine if my Dad had did something like that. That has to be the worst thing. I know women who knew what was happeneing to their daughters and did nothing. I don't understand that. It happened to my cousin. Her step father was raping her and her mother knew about it and didn't do anything. She even walked in on him molesting her and she didn't say anything, just turned around and walked off. My cousin died a while back in a car accident, but I still have bad feelings toward my aunt.

When did the weight begin to come off?
Carrie_C replied to monicasf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try not to compair yourself with others weight loss. I had surgery in May not long before you and I haven't lost fast either. There are others who had surgery the same month as me who have lost 80 pounds. I really don't see how. I try not to let it discourage me. And yes, it is true that if you have a lower BMI, it takes longer to lose. -

Carrie_C replied to monicasf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't ususally lose any weight the week of my period and the week after. But I lose good the other weeks. -
I know what you mean. I have moved past it, but I still haven't told many people. Mostly because I don't want my Dad to know and think that it was his fault that it happened because it happened in his house. My uncle that did it is still alive and he still lives with my Dad, so it would cause all kinds of problems if people found out.
-
That's great if you can speak about it. I am not brave enough to even tell most of my family. Very few people know.
-
I want some toys!
-
Very weird. When I went for my psych eval, the counselor said most people that he sees that are overweight were abused or had alcoholic parents. I am lucky enough to have had both. Go figure.

I had surgery in May and I have been stuck for a few weeks too. But this time of year, it's very hard to lose. I would be happy just to maintain until after the holidays.
