I wish she would just get a band and be done with it.
-
My question is why is everyone SO surprised that she gained weight back? Hasn't she done this her entire life? Why all the surprise now? Everytime I turn on th tv, someone is mentioning how she's up to 200 pounds, like it's never happened before.

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?

luluc, I agree with you, I really had no idea until after I had my surgery either. I did my research before hand of course, but I don't think we really understand the changes until we actually have to DO them. I also agree with people having surgery with a BMI of 30. If their BMI is already at 30, it is highly unlikely that they are going to be able to lose the weight on their own without some type of help. And those that do lose it are more likely than not to gain it back. Didn't we all have a BMI of 30 at one time? I know I did, and it quickly became 41 before I had surgery. I was no more likely to lose the weight with a BMI of 30 than one of 41 without the band. We use all sorts if implants in the medical field to save lives, pacemakers, etc. The band shouldn't be looked at any differerently. I don't see it as unnatural. I see it as a life saver. Mine sure has been. -

I take offense at "the natural way." Who's to say what the natural way is? -

You can also try Dr. Rutledge in Chattanooga. I know he does quite a few different weight loss surgeries. His number is 423-265-6578 -

That is crazy. You can try calling the gastric band institute at 423-899-1000. I am not sure if they are also with Dr. Rose, but I don't think they are. I had my surgery done at Memorial, but it was with Dr. Paynter. I had to go through Memorial for the nutrition and psych evals though, so I don't know if they are connected. I have insurance that covered my surgery, but they required me to pay a $1000 "program fee" 1 week before my surgery. It is a big rip off and they should not be allowed to charge like that. Good luck. -
I will have to give that a try.

Ok, somebody tell me what the pouch test is.

That's neat that you are in chattanooga! Who is your surgeon?

I admit that I mostly wanted to lose weight for cosmetic reasons, and to have more energy. Those who say they don't do it for that, at least partly, are lying. I did like most others have done. I said I would try it once more on my own. Well, I did, and I lost some, but it just came back plus more. I was 254 on my surgey day and I would have been 300 very easily if I hadn't had the surgery. Everyone has their breaking points, and that was mine. I would not allow myself to get to 300 pounds. For others, their breaking point may be 200, and there's nothing wrong with that. -

I have actually met a lot of guys who don't like to give oral. But I think it is very selfish of them to want to receive it but not give it. -
why is he doing this to me?? WHY??? what did i do?

My husband doesn't want me to be skinny. He says I look fine just the way I am. I say that's sweet, but I still want to be skinny! -
Thanks Boo Boo. I was wondering where you were.

I think anyone with a BMI of 30 or more should be allowed to have surgery. Because, eventually, they are more than likely going to have a BMI of 40. Making them wait is just cruel. -
I have a small buldge where my port is too. The fat patch you are talking about is called a lipoma. If you search google images, you can see some pictures. I have one on my back.
-
It's been awhile for me too. I think the last time I weighed 200 was around 2000.
-
You should probably wait a week or so before you have any kind of sex because you will be sore. After that, you should be fine.

I would also like to know how you get your husband to go to the grocery store. LOL. -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!

Yea, I don't blame you! -
Well, I finally broke the plateau yesterday. But I have had to really kick up the exercise lately.
-
Thanks! I will just be glad to get under 200 pounds.
-
Yea, defintely take your measurements. You will see a difference there. I have actually lost almost 10 inches from my hips since surgery!
-
That makes no sense about the condom. I agree with everyone else, get some legal advise. Maybe there is something that can be done to protect you.

I just love this thread! It feels so good to vent! spudgirl, that's funny about the diet coke because my Mom was the same way, except with regular coke. If I had some while I was at her house she would say "if you would stop drinking that can of sugar, you would lose some weight." But yet she would drink it all day. Firedad, I think that's great what you did for your wife. There aren't many husbands who would do that. I say good riddance! Maggifer, that is so funny about picking you nose! I can't stop laughing! -
It's just something that I have always done. I have been in the medical profession since I was 16. I started out working in a nursing home. I have been a CNA and a phlebotomist and I have been a medical assistant since 2002. I just can't see myself doing anything else.
