  1. I think you are being very biased. I think it depends on the person's attitude more than the age. I don't think I would have been successful if I would have had the band when I was younger because of my mindset. But that doesn't mean other people who are younger than me won't succeed just because I might not have. Yes, it is true that your metabolism slows the older you get, but there are ways to speed metabolism up, especially with exercise. And the part about younger people being more active is not always true. I know plenty of people younger than me who sit around on video games all day. So success depends on more than just someone's age.

Were is all my Chattanoogians at?

Also, if you're not PBing or getting stuck, it sounds like you have hit your sweet spot!

slim, if you have really good restriction, it should take you at least 30 minutes to eat. I know it seems like a long time, but you will get used to it.

slim, do you know how many cc's are in your band? It doesn't sound like you are too tight. Are you PBing at all?

    Racism Is Alive and Well

I don't understand the white bashing either. You even see it in moves a lot. Another thing too, is skinny bashing. I'm sure everyone here has been talked about for being too fat, but my husband has experienced it from the other side as well. He is very tall and naturally very thin. I can't tell you how many people tell him how skinny he is and make jokes about it. He hates it. It hurts him just as much to be made fun of for being thin as it does for us to be made fun of for being fat.

I know what you mean. When we all go out with my brother who is mixed, we get dirty looks too. It is really funny when my mom and stepdad, who are both white, are with him out somewhere. You can imagine what people are thinking! Sometimes it is quite funny!

I have had to have about 5 or 6 unfills. No, I didn't stay on a liquid diet afterwards. There was really no need to because once they take some of the fluid out, you automatically feel better and things can go through the band a lot easier. But everyone is probably different. Also, it is not uncommon to need another fill a few weeks after having an unfill because once the swelling goes down from being too tight, you may not feel as much restriction as you should.

slim, it's the bands on the braces that come in colors. You can change them each month. That's part of the monthly adjustments, they change the bands out too and you can pick the colors.

I just saw the doctor and she upped the dose on my pills, so I will see what happens. Why did you go off your pills?

I am thinking maybe my birth control pill needs to be changed. I am on a very low dose one, but with the weight loss, maybe I need to be on a higher dose.

It probably is. On another note, this is TMI I know, especially for the guys, but my periods are all crazy now that I have lost weight. Is anyone else having problems? I have an appointment today with my GYN.

That's good. I know for me, it usually takes a few days before I can feel restriction after a fill. It seems to not take affect for a few days.

I wouldn't say it really hurt, just very uncomfortable. But it was worse on me because I am an adult. It takes a lot more pressure to make an adult's teeth move and it hurts more because our bones aren't still soft like a teenager's bones are. So it may not be as bad on your son as it was me. I just had them on the top to close a huge gap I had between my 2 front teeth. I didn't have braces on the bottom. The first few days after they adjust them were the worst for me.

I hope your son does well with the braces. I just had them removed in December.

Thanks plain. That was getting WAY out of hand, not to mention it was totally unnecessary.

    Racism Is Alive and Well

True, but we don't know that it was racism either, so we can't really say. I just know from personal experience that racism is still a huge problem.

    Racism Is Alive and Well

Well, I think the OP was just stating her feelings and her opinion about the situations. I don't think she was looking for anyone to prove that it was racism!

    Racism Is Alive and Well

I think the OP said that it had happened several times, not just twice. Regardless, this had gotten way out of hand.

    Racism Is Alive and Well

True. What really bothers me is when other white people make racist remarks or tell me racist jokes. It's like it's ok to say things like that to me just because I am white too.

I couldn't agree with you more. Discrimination is discrimination, no matter what it's based on.

    Racism Is Alive and Well

I just think racism is just as bad today as it has ever been. No, we don't have segregation anymore, but it is still bad. I once had an exboyfriend break up with me when he found out I had a mixed brother. For no other reason, he said he couldn't handle it. I work with a black doctor. He's one of the nicest people I have ever met. But I can't tell you how many patients don't want to see him and wish to be moved to another provider's schedule just because he is black. And I am not assuming that, I have actually had patients tell me that. For some reason, they seem to think it's ok to tell me that since I am white.

    Racism Is Alive and Well

That may be true in some parts of the country, but you couldn't tell it in the south where I live. I can't tell you how many times I have heard the n word since Obama got elected, or how many racist jokes I've heard since he took office.
