My surgery was on a Monday and I went to work Tuesday of the following week. At the time I felt like it was a little too soon but if I dont go I dont get paid.. Even though I sit at a desk I was very tired. If I had it to do over again I would take two weeks.

I completely understand. I hated eating for probably the first three months after my surgery. I hated that I could only eat certain stuff, I hated that if I took one bite too many I would be in pain, I hated not knowing if it was going to upset my stomach, and I hated how long it took me to eat a small quantity. Now that I'm more familiar with my new stomach I know what to expect so it isn't so bad anymore. I still don't enjoy eating like I used to, but that's fine. I just want eat to live instead of the other way around. I'm now grateful for all of the restrictions.

It took me about 6 weeks.

Tijuana Mexico

yes. I feel like a major part of the reason I was overweight in the first place was from years of steroids for asthma. After a year of being off the steroids the weight didnt come down much so I had surgery. Now I'm always worried that i may have to go back on it for an extended period of time. So far since the surgery I've only had to take it for about a week at a time, but I'm always worried that it may cause me to gain again. Luckily that hasn't happened. Maybe it has slowed me down a little but I really can't say for sure. The good thing is that my asthma is much better now so hopefully I can avoid it going further, but it is definitely a concern of mine.

What questions did you ask?
MrsHTX replied to UndercoverDiet's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had done so much research in advance that I really didn't have any. I kept feeling like I should be asking something but I couldnt think of anything that I really didnt already know. I was just eager to get it done. -
I smoke and dont have any issues. But I think I waited about two months after surgery before I started again.

Fatigue & Weakness ....
MrsHTX replied to Karrina-D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having that issue so I increased my iron. Helped me tremendously. -
I live in Houston and had my surgery in Tijuana. For my return flight I booked my seat in the section with extra room in case I was uncomfortable. I was worried about blood clots so I wore compression socks and moved my legs and feet around often. I also had a plastic bag with me in case I got nauseous and could make it to the restroom. Turns out everything was fine. No trouble at all. Good luck to you!

3 months out and 65 pounds down another 40 to go, I hope to hit my goal weight by Christmas.
MrsHTX replied to Bbolin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! that's great progress! -
I was avoiding straws at first before I returned to work. When I got back I started drinking out of them just from habit. It was probably a week before I realized what I was doing. I haven't had any issues. I'm one month out.

I dont miss food but I miss being able to eat with no trouble. I don't mind not being able to eat a lot because I'm rarely hungry. I just miss not having to wait on it to go down, worrying about if I'm going to have one bit too many and be in pain, or having to watch the time to see when I an drink again, etc.

Incision Question: When to stop applying dressings
MrsHTX replied to AK_Bookworm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped applying dressing when there was no more fluid coming out. One of them wasnt completely scabbed but it seemed to speed up when I quit covering it. -
When will I feel the restriction?
MrsHTX replied to SouthJerseySleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way at first but then when I started chewing food I knew for sure my sleeve was working. -
What was the first food you ate when allowed soft foods?
MrsHTX replied to FatPharm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Scrambled eggs with a little shredded cheese and salsa at 3 weeks with no issues. -
Possibly traveling alone. Tell me your experience please.
MrsHTX replied to Here_I_Go_Again's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I traveled alone and didnt have a single issue. When I left the hotel I took my luggage with me. There was a safe in my hospital room but I ended up not locking anything up. Everything was right where I left it when I came out of surgery. The companions of the other people that had surgery the same day as me checked on me just as much as the staff did. Throughout the whole experience there was never once a time that I thought I should have brought someone with me. -
May 1st is my surgery date. This all happened very quickly for me. I started researching the sleeve about 3 months ago and now its a reality. I finally got my husband on board and the time off from work so I paid my deposit today. Even though I have researched endlessly and done a tone of planning as soon as I hit send on the deposit I got extremely nervous. Its a good thing I don't have too long to wait because my nerves couldn't handle it!

It went well. Actually Better then I expected. I'm sore but other than that I'm fine.

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
MrsHTX replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's terrible! I would be very upset. -
Who are you telling (pre-op)?
MrsHTX replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told my husband, my cousin, and a friend. It's not that is a secret, I just don't want to hear anyone's opinion, I have no problem with telling them after its done if the subject comes up. -
Flying to Mexico for Weight Loss Surgery
MrsHTX replied to mledbetter0511's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I paid extra for the seats with extra room and picked one near the restroom. I haven't gone yet so I don't know it this was necessary but I figure its better to be safe than sorry. -

MrsHTX replied to 1stNameMiranda's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm scheduled for May 1st. -
Might be a weird question....
MrsHTX replied to painish's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I first contacted the office on 3/19 and Im scheduled for 5/1. I probably could have gotten a sooner date but I had something already planned and I didnt want the pre op diet to interfere. -
It's almost time!

I tried Baritastic but I got frustrated with it because it wont sync correctly with my Garmin. Other than that it seems pretty good.
